I just want to see the BTS referral system in action. Feels like forever ago since we heard about it, but have yet to see how awesome it is or isn't gonna be.

Yes, it means that when people over at /r/bitcoin rationalize Coinbase (a centralized company) and Coinbase referrals (a centralized marketing scheme) because it is in the best interest of Bitcoin adoption (read: price appreciation), then they cannot reasonably accuse BTS (decentralized autonomous company) later of having a referral system (decentralized marketing scheme). In time they should learn to recognize what's what, and why BTS/Referrals is infinitely more "Satoshi spirit" than Coinbase/Referrals.
