I think it is important that the white papers are prominently displayed on the website. It seems to me that a lot of people interested in bitshares primarily do not understand the concept and it takes too much searching for them to understand how it is achievable from a technical standpoint. In terms of marketing to the bitcoin community, it needs to be made evident why tapos is better than pow, in the same way that the website clearly explains why bitshares conceptually is better than bitcoin or traditional banks. I really think that major part of the problem with bitshares marketing is that people still think the concept is either a scam or delusional. It is just as important to market the lower level concepts as it is to market the higher level ones. There is good content on the website, but none of the content really explains how bitshares DAC's work.

I agree. I think they are working on it : https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3837.msg48147#msg48147

A minor point: I've seen "bitshares", "BitShares", and "bitShares" in different areas on the forum and website and in the logo. Which capitalization scheme is the optimal one, and should it be used consistently everywhere?

Unfortunately all variants are used on the new website. It would probably be best to choose a standardized version, while still trademarking, registering, domain squatting or whatever needs to be done, all of them.

BitShares is brand (when not part of the logo)
bitShares is logo... (only when used in the logo)
bitshares refers to individual shares.

I agree it is confusing.

I think it makes most sense to stick with the branding "bitShares" which matches the logo. You don't see anyone anywhere write IPhone or EBay. Although in this texting/blogging/facebook generation people tend to write things in all lowercase when having casual conversation. To this extent many companies are rebranding to use only lowercase. Check out the newest logos of macy's, jcpenny, and sears. There are also plenty of companies that have been all lowercase for a while: amazon, intel, adidas.

I found a random blog post that mentions this trend directly: http://www.duetsblog.com/2011/04/articles/branding/lower-case-branding-visual-identity/

So ultimately "BitShares" is unnecessary if the logo branding is "bitShares", and "bitshares" should be fine for casual conversation but not in any formal paper or on the main website. When you refer to individual shares I would think you should just say "shares".

From reddit. I think for us here it is very clear and nice but here are a view for a reddit guy. I think he has a few good points there :
"The website makes absolutely no sense to me. I haven't a clue what Bitshares is.
According to the video, it gets rid of desks, rent, utilities, salaries and equipment and pays all of the money saved to shareholders. And it allows you to transfer shares for free but only for digital companies which exist entirely in software (which don't yet exist).
The best explanation of what bitshares is is hidden on the FAQ page:
BitShares is a free open source software platform that can be used to launch Distributed Autonomous Companies (DAC).
Ok, so where is this open source platform? Or is BitShares a company, it seems to be employing people.
So your website claims BitShares is an open source platform, things you can trade like shares, a digital autonomous company and also a regular company? I'm confused.
Overall opinion: lots of words that mean very little and claim to make lots of money. Is it a scam: no, they aren't asking for my money. Is it an advertisment: no, it's open source. I have literally no idea what the point of this website is other than a design exercise for The Creative momentum"

We need a better presence on Reddit with more informed participants answering questions and addressing concerns. I think this is absolutely imperative actually.

Team Viral will likely be working in this area.  I have seen conversations begin to pick up around bitShares and "protoshares" lately...but these things will take time.
