The wallet will not open for me on Windows....it crashes every single time
\
what is the error?

See my post history. I'm sure it's the same problem I've had.

yes it is the same problem....have you been able to find a remedy?

Does not work for me.

I get the same issue on windows, the wallet software appears to install ok but when you run it, it shuts down almost instantly.

Mine was working fine all day but now it shuts down almost instantly as well.  maybe they are working on some issues.
GALT, are you using win7? or what version?

I am facing the same problem. The wallet crashes instantly. I tried it on win8 64 bit and win7 64 bit as well but to no avail. Are their any prerequisites for installing the wallet?

+5% I would pimp the S*** out this wallet if I could open & use it.

Win 7 64 bit for me.
If you have windows7 (32,64) Please make sure you uninstall any virtual or removable USB flash drives on your machine.
If you use flash drives Win7 keeps them installed when you remove the flash drive. Just uninstall them(it).
then run exe

Great tip! Thanks for that. I had Daemon Tools on my machine which created two virtual drives; after deleting them BTSX loaded up on my machine.

Now, can somebody tell me how I can import a backup of my wallet onto a different machine running the BTSX software? The Import Wallet function is grayed out for me.

Thanks in advance.

Go to the console and type wallet_create_from_json <json_filename> <wallet_name> <imported_wallet_passphrase>

>> help wallet_create_from_json

Usage:
wallet_create_from_json <json_filename> <wallet_name> <imported_wallet_passphrase>                    Creates a new wallet from an exported JSON file
Creates a new wallet from an exported JSON file

Parameters:
json_filename (filename, required): the full path and filename of JSON wallet to import
wallet_name (wallet_name, required): name of the wallet to create
imported_wallet_passphrase (passphrase, required): passphrase of the imported wallet

Returns:
  void

That worked perfectly...thanks so much!

I found a serious bug.

I  closed bts wallet by using Task Manager  ,

then I reopened it, everything is gone , no accounts, no transactions.

Please help me .. I have lots of BTSX in it...
Have you registered your account and have a copy/backup of you wallet?

reboot and try again .. maybe windows did not correctly kill it ..
afaik wallets are stored in a robust database

I didn't backup wallet.
Still nothing after reboot, Is it possible to recover the wallet?

1) When you re-open your wallet can you login with your original password?
2) Check for a folder in your APP_DATA directory BitShares X/wallets/default
3) Always backup.

Yes, I can login with my password, but no accounts, transactions.

checked APP_DATA  , it has two directories  (default and my account name)

I didn't export wallet , because I thought BTSX also has a wallet.dat file like bitcoin...

Ok. I think you will be fine,  we just need to try a few things.

1.  Close wallet.
2.   Backup wallets directory
3.  Rename default to old default
4.  Rename youraccontname to default
5.  Start wallet.

this may sound stupid: I have been all over the wallet, but i cannot find the deposit address for receiving BTSX funds.
can someone please advise?

Go to accounts.

Select your account.

Select the advanced tab.

Your key will begin with BTSX

Alternately you can go to the console page and type
Code: [Select]
wallet_list_my_accounts

I'm not sure if this is a solution to some of the problems being addressed in this thread, but earlier I couldn't open the windows client because of an empty disk drive. I would get the error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive F:." This error would prevent me from opening the BitShareX program. I believe someone else was having the problem before and I found the solution today although I am not sure if it was solved elsewhere on the forum. You have to right click on the start button and then left click "Computer Management". Once under Computer Management click "Disk Management" under the Storage category. Find the disk that is giving the program trouble, right click it and select "Properties". Once under Properties click Driver and then Disable. Now the client should be able to open normal. Hopefully this helps someone.

Thanks for the help raleit2014.

I don't think I have any USB flash drives installed. My keyboard is connected via wireless USB. Which I assume is fine.

Windows says the problem event name is 'BEX' & gives me some other info I can post if that helps.
