Of course. Now is the best time to discuss, before the hard fork. my point was no matter what the community brainstorms it will be on Dan and team to find what is the best way to integrate such solution in the existing project. So I understand them being reluctant to changes.

Well we have to keep in mind any change takes engineering effort to do and could introduce other issues, so I understand where Bytemaster is coming from, he wants to keep it simple and efficient. But I thought that since they are planning on a hard fork we take these things into consideration

we have nothing to loose discusing about these topics...
some times good ideas come out, our at least we can inspire bytemaster to come with something better out...

It would be nice if setting production off, releases your slot temporarily to others who are eager to produce blocks.

+1 +1 +1

thats a very good idea!!!
It should help for maintenance periods,  or to deactivate them due knowing problems and give the opportunity to stand-by delegates to participate!!!

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=6013.msg80682#msg80682

I think I got a better idea here.

Yep I like the way you think... In fact I made a proposal in past, that has similaritys with your idea :)
Please check the first link  .... Now we are 2 with identical ideas... lets convince the community... so we can pressure bytemaster  :)

Bloody hell - I had turned off production, because of the wallet transfer issue. I got elected in the meantime  I've set production to on now, but my stats are terrible just because of that.

I should have close to 100% reliability from here on now. It would be nice if setting production off, releases your slot temporarily to others who are eager to produce blocks.

From this list all but slavix and scroodge have not get into the top 101 list.

From those who were voted in ninja and betax haven't produced a single block.

Can you, BTSX whale, reconsider your support and vote for scroodge, who has successfully participated in Dry Runs?

Yes, I have my doubts about starting this too early, but hopefully I'm wrong. :)

I promise, that if I make some money out of this (more than to cover bills to run a delegate),
I'll translate and publish on a webpage some articles in order to attract polish investors.

And I will do some give-away actions for the readers to try it out themselves.

Due to a misunderstanding of the deterministic nature of TITAN I had to recreate my dedicated delegate server wallet.

If you had voted for riverheaddelserv1 already please recast your vote for riverhead-del-server-1 (still at 5% pay rate).

Thanks!

Because he can and obviously want to .. or maybe "just because" .. it's like an act of freedom!?

Great, I get it.
All we need is ... $$$ and we have the freedom to get them.
Understandable!

I will personally try to never vote for 'Delegate vote swaps' participant, but feel free to do so!

This is the story of a fisherman who walked every day by the sea, casting a net and asking the Lord for a good catch. One day he took out their networks and what to see - a human eye. The fisherman took the eye and took it to the king, showed their catches and announced that he wanted to sell it. The king asked him the price of the eye, and the fisherman replied that it would cost as much gold as it weighs eye. Put the eye on the instrument, and the other began to put gold - Put kg, two, three, five, ten, but the scale of the eye never risen. The eye stayed still heavier. King wondered what to do and called a wise man to advise him. The sage gave the following advice to resolve the situation in which a human eye weighs more than all the gold of the king "should be put on the eye a little dust." By eye threw dust, then squinted and then journeyed up.
All gasped, and the sage said, "Sometimes you have to help yourself, dear pollen mesh to satisfy, or what you want, what you want ... It's nice to do, but one is loaded with unnecessary desires. Every moment of life is an opportunity to achieve our human desires, but in a moment we need very little.

Personally I would prefer a delegate with 100% pay who has a solid targeted plan to use that income wisely, rather than one with 0% pay who is essentially targeting everyone equally.

I do not know where you live, but in this country we have seen a lot of politicians claiming to know how to spend our money better than us.

Most of the time the money not spend for themselves/given to friends are used for starting a war or two with random country.
So, I personally am not voting for any delegate with over about 15% pay rate, period.
There are a couple of people I might trust with a 100% rake,  but that's gonna be few and far between.   Other than that I agree with Simeon, and his parallel with politics.   I say lower taxes is the solution.

Pay rate is an interesting topic.
The delegates that I and other two forum members are running destroy 20% of the fees for each, more over we will  give back 30% of the fees to the community.

Any suggestion ?

That's fine, I don't blame you.  That is a perfectly reasonable stance. I would not vote for a delegate who proposes to start wars either.

What I'm saying is, my vote for a delegate who chooses to donate 85% of his 100% income towards something I would be interested in donating to anyways, like say the bitshares development team, serves my interest more than a delegate who donates their 85% equally to everyone, people i don't support included.

No just I feel too lazy to explain the effect of destroying transaction fees…
If you do not want to figure it yourself out, the topic should be discussed (in this forum including).

Offline Riverhead

From what I've read the pay rate percentage isn't how much you keep vs return to the market it's how much you keep vs "destroy to reduce supply".  So it's not like if you're at 50% you're being less greedy (in the short term).  You're just reducing the number of BTSX by destroying half the transaction fees you earned.  This will likely increase the value of each BTSX in a classic supply/demand sense I guess.

Someone correct me if I've misunderstood this.

Corrected as requested!

Not to mention, not one of us currently has a single delegate in the top 101.

my delegate is on second slot currently

And the ONLY one with less then 100% fee...

so I missed one, gratz jabbajabba

I'd be willing to bet that the 50% pay rate has little to nothing to do with his placement.

In fact I've change my delegate xeldal to 50%. Lets see if it has any effect.

I don't expect this to change anything, but I'd be delighted to be wrong.

I haven't seen any comments from you about the more than 60% of current delegates seeming controlled by 1 individual or group with the same 100% fee collection.  There's at least another 2 that control another 20% again at the same 100% fee collection.

Your comment is perhaps a little miss guided?

You presume to know what we intend to do with collect fees.

Only one of my delegates will spend income on coke and hookers.   :o

Let me guess… it would be the sole owner of them!

I suggest not voting now but when the delegate list is complete, everyone will make a big transaction with all their BTSX at the same time.

Now the threshold for entering in the first 101 is 0.3271075597%, I think in this way we will be able to become all active delegates.

Remember to make a transaction with all your BTSX after the wallet_approve_delegate commands like this (otherwise you aren't voting):

Lets trade votes. You vote for my delegate and I will vote for yours.  8)
Reply to this thread with your delegate name.

This sounds good. I'm game.

If I understand correctly, you can vote for 33 delegates before your votes become essentially diluted.  Is that correct? Edit: Evidently the limit is 101

I put together a list of 33 spots and I've added at least 1 delegate for everyone who has replyed to this tread.  I will be voting the following list and will update with any new replys who hopefully honor at least part of the same voting list.   Until I get 33 individuals to fill up the list, I've added upto 5 of some delegates multiple accounts.

Let me know if I'm confused about the 33 votes, or if I've missed you etc. Edit: I was confused

I can't tell if my votes for other count or not... I have a decent size BTSX, yet, when I vote for someone, they barely move.

However I noticed that if I send BTSX directly to my actual delegate account - it suddenly has a lot of votes (but still not nearly enough!)

Seems unfair advantage that init delegates start with more than 3% votings. Other ideas and businesses have to do it the hard way. >:(

Sounds good!

I don't understand... who is behind those initXX delegates?

We need to diversify, to strengthen the network. I did pretty much 100% reliability during the test network. Yet I get almost no votes on the live one. Am I doing something wrong?

clout - I like you, but is it really necessary to run 5 delegates? It is giving the impression that this is a VERY centralized effort to the outsiders/newcomers.

I know it's early days, but this needs to be adjusted.

Cheers!
