Does multisig and 2FA solve anything? No, because the multisig is provided by the web wallet server and if that is compromised then the multisig is also compromised and useless.

Can this be solved by having one or more of the multisig providers reside on another unknown server, or possibly from some or all of the delegates themselves?

In terms of finding a name, what's the main benefit this client has to the user over the full client?

Speed?

BitShares Swift
(or 'Swift', or 'the Swift client')

BitShares Bolt
(or 'Bolt', or 'the Bolt client')

BitShares Go
(or 'Go', or 'the Go client')

BitShares Express
(or 'Express', or 'the Express client')

Small size?

BitShares Blade
(or 'Blade', or 'the Blade client')

BitShares Mini
(or 'Mini', or 'the Mini client')

Simplicity?

BitShares Zen
(or 'Zen', or 'the Zen client')

BitShares Basic
(or 'Basic', or 'the Basic client')

Pretaining to 'light'?

BitShares Lux
(or 'Lux', or 'the Lux client')

BitShares Photon
(or 'Photon', or 'the Photon client')

One suggestion from the chinese community: the content of app.js.map is in plain text,  it can be compressed and cached locally to save the bandwidth.

On the other hand,  I also think the identicon is great,  and I wonder whether the identicon can be used in reverse: input the identicon figure and it can be reversed into an account name? I found some discussion elsewhere and guess it is possible right? I think it could be great if we can use mobile wallet to scan identicon and complete transaction.

Identicons were not built with internal verification systems, so obtaining the wrong data from an imperfect picture is very possible, even likely. In other words, this is a bad idea. If we want this functionality, QR codes already accomplish this and have all the verification safegaurds in place.

Ok, I'm glad that BitShares Exchange is getting a resounding '+5%' :)

I would go as far to say that we should never refer to the application as 'wallet' ever again. If you need a generic term, you can use 'client'.

So for example, you can say,

"Within the client, you can..."
"Download the client"
"The new client version is out!"
"The desktop client has the benefit of higher security, while the web client has the benefits of accessibility and speed"

Additionally, you can replace the term 'address' with 'account'. These changes may seem small, but if we are all consistent about it, it will set our product apart from our competition. It will be hard to break the habits, but it will be way worth it.

You can track the supply inflation here: https://bitsharesblocks.com/charts/supply

Current annual inflation is edging up towards 2%, well below the current maximum value of 6.3%

Some nice stats you could add:

1. The theoretical max, taking into account the BTS that has already been burned
2. The projected max, taking into account the current rate of inflation

What is the benefit of having Trade.BTC over BitBTC?

Also, I'm glad that Dan N. is putting those vanity username squats to good use :P

cn-members came on Mumble and we talked about all this. We agreed there needs to be a happy medium between massive censorship, and devs being careless with their words.

I proposed to him a very simple solution:

1. Statements, Proposals, blogs, and posts should be peer-reviewed by the dev team before publishing. Their collective social intelligence should be much greater than the sum of their parts, and sufficient for anything blatantly bad PR.

2. The finalized text should be given to a dedicated Chinese community member to translate, to post along-side the text simultaneously.

To this, cn-members told me that they asked for this exactly, many many times over the past year. He said that the problem has come down to habits, and that the dev team needs to be proactive in changing their habits.

Can a dev comment on the above proposal? Are you aware the Chinese has been asking for this? Is there any reason why this cannot be implemented into your communications?

Bitcoiners know BitBTC isn't real BTC.  It doesn't have the same appeal as having a wallet that holds real BTC.  It just can't be sold as a bitcoin wallet without holding real BTC.

It won't be sold as a bitcoin wallet. It will be sold as an exchange. Just as you know the BTC you hold in the exchange is not actually BTC, BitBTC also is not BTC. Except, you own the private keys and it is not exposed to counterparty risk.

Nice!  +5%  I was able to register a new account as well as send and receive funds without any problems.  It's not quite as fast as the full client but damn fast!   8)
Question- whys the transaction fee set to 1+ BTS by default?

If you consider blockchain downloading / processing / replaying, this is MUCH faster than the full client.

Furthermore, once the website version of BitShares Exchange is running smoothly, they won't even have to download anything!

Then, maybe we should rebrand the 'wallet' part of the name of the GUI to 'exchange'.

Go to bitshares.org and download BitShares Exchange.

After all, I think 'wallet' doesn't really describe what the GUI does anymore, and 'exchange' is a much better fit.

Then, they would see this not as installing an 'alt coin wallet', but installing something that will let them trade in the same way they deposit their money into a traditional exchange-- except we have the advantage of marketing that it is decentralized.

You can deposit BTS into the BitShares Exchange (this is just another way of saying that you purchased BTS from somewhere and transferred them to your account), or you can deposit BTC into the BitShares Exchange (this is another way of saying that the GUI client has a built in system that interfaces with 3rd party bridge services to trade BTC for BitBTC, giving minimal risk exposure). You can then trade your BitBTC for BitUSD.

Let's try that again without all the cruft:

Install BitShares Exchange.
Deposit BTC.
Trade for USD.

That's it! They don't even have to buy bitshares, just as when I use Cryptsy I don't have to invest in their company shares.

...Add Bitcoin to the BitShares wallet!

I'm imagining a tab that says "Deposit BTC", which opens up to a page showing the best rate from either metaexchange.info or shapeshift, showing your current BitBTC balance.

This should be simple to implement, yes??

With the new web wallet, this could be the easiest path to giving accessible trust-free decentralized BitUSD hedging!

For those who read this before cn-members remove this post,

This is getting way out of hand. Dozens of threads over the past few weeks have been deleted by 'cn-members', and is making others and myself feel like we are being silenced unjustly, even violated.

Micromanaging voices does not go unnoticed, and if your intention is to have better PR, there are better methods than following the footsteps of your own government. I should not have to worry about what I can or cannot say here, and if I'm getting a sock shoved in my mouth, don't expect me to not fight back.

Have you forgotten the principles of freedom and liberty that hold BitShares together?

I'm thinking of starting another forum if this keeps up.

Btw, the auto-scrolling instruction text is very annoying. Just display all the info I need to read at once...
