Certain kinds of surveillance probably shouldn't be so cheap. If the surveillance is being abused politically, then it's too cheap.

cheap surveillance allows little bro to spy on big bro. when surveillance was expensive this was not possible before. i welcome a world where everyone can see what everyone else is doing. control is derived from scarcity of something u want and only i have
Cheap surveillance allows the illusion that the little bro is able to spy on the big bro. Big bro will always out spend, out man, out innovate the little bro before little bro ever smells what's going on. Your statement suggests that you don't respect or care for privacy and look forward to a world where complete transparency rules all.

With that said....
Can I have the passwords to everyone of your personal email addresses?  I promise I won't use it, I'll only browse. If you welcome transparency and got nothing to hide, I don't see what your hold up would be. Someone's gotta be the first. Why not ye who encourages this brave new world? I intend to search you personal correspondences, any financial statements that are sent, see all the email lists you belong to, who sends you messages on FB etc. etc. etc.

Toast is just following the money.   When his paycheck ran out, he went to work for music, and then went to google.   It is better for him to earn $$$ and invest than to work for BTS.

I thought he burned the google bridge by choosing to work for BTS.

If blockchains could operate on something like a mesh network , it has a chance of being completely distributed.

I have stated here and over on BTT over the past years that bitcoin and the likes are not decentralized as they are beholden to the laws of the land. Either through control of the ISP's or downright outlawing exchange and possession.

I really don't get it...Who on earth is selling BTS at these prices? How is that even possible..
I can partially understand selling btc due to the whole confusion with XT maybe but why whould someone sell BTS now? I mean even CNX never comes out how is it possible that BTS is valued so low? We have a working platform with various bitassets and yet BTS is falling..I simply don't get this..

It really is preservation of capital.

With the stock markets dropping 5-10% in a day and bitcoin losing 30% in a few weeks, people are preserving capital and exiting the risky "investments" because fear is high.

Couple that with the complete uncertainty of Cryptonomex future alignments, aka the bank talk, and you have a recipe for stagnation. Let's also not forget about all the broken promises, failed deadlines, unusable current product and hints of grandiose things that never came to. People are rightfully skeptical and price has definitely reflected that.

There really is no mystery why.  There have been other good ideas by companies who were better run that failed too. Timing, marketing, competition are all categories that could cause failure and Bitshares whatever is failing with all three and more.

You could've just said "typical software development".

What is very unfortunate about the small holders that have been spooked by people like you (especially you) is that most of them have most probably never been involved in a software development project before and don't understand that these kind of delays are not only completely normal, but should be expected and planned for.

Pro tip: If any software developer promises delivery in 2 months, expect 4. 8 months? Expect 16.
Add extra cushion for degree of difficulty.

How many crypto decentralized exchanges had been built before Bitshares?
Yeah.

What's more interesting about Bitshares is that there actually exists a functioning client and blockchain that has been operating for over a year (with a functioning GUI  :o !!!) - and is about to release with a rewritten, more functional and streamlined version within the next 2-3 months (any somewhat experienced investor should not flinch if it were to take longer). The funny thing here is that you are probably the single most responsible one here at shaking out the weak hands (ie - making the poor, poorer and the rich, richer)

But keep at it, by all means - Mr. Numine - you have certainly helped people like me obtain far more BTS than I would have thought possible last year at this time. What you have been doing might be very good for you and the people that can easily see through you, but you are hurting those that can't - and you know what you are doing.

I just can't believe so many here let you slide with it until now.

It's one thing to take advantage of personal knowledge for personal gain - it's completely different to bait those lacking knowledge with FUD.

Monty

 ;)
Hey Munty, whatever makes you feel nice and toasty inside with your poor investment decisions.

You should visit the technical help threads if you really think the current client/GUI is working fine.

As for shitty Ethereum, according to your qualifications for Bitshares, ETH meets them too.  They have a functioning blockchain.

And why is that? Been here the whole time barely posting and this thing has dropped like Skylab.

You just confirmed your role on this forum one more time.  :)

The end of the upturn or downturn?

And why is that? Been here the whole time barely posting and this thing has dropped like Skylab.

Dear bears, please hold it down for another month so I can get a bunch more money in that I have coming. :P

Noooooooooooo!

You may have a gambling problem.

Did you drop on Brownies? Or just BTS, besides the others?

Anyway,

It's great that you dropped shares/coins. Unfortunately most people can't access them as the client continues to crash, especially when accessing the market. Since this version is completely unsupported, don't expect any crazy trading of your shares on the Bitshares DEx.

General Discussion / Re: No Sommer Announcements for the week?
« on: August 29, 2015, 02:51:09 pm »
I will admit I thought the price would move based on the announcements but I am more convinced now that big money is driving the price down in preparation of what's coming for bigger gains then what can be realized in this speculative market.

I am not sure if that is the dumbest or the most funny thing I have heard on the forum.

Just the picture of Institutional funds losing money to push down the price of a sub-penny cryptocurrency with a 7 figure marketcap in which nobody outside of this forum has ever heard of, is just outright stupid thinking. On the other hand, thinking anyone beyond your little pow wow of 15-30 people, there esists some elusive "Big Money" player, is hilarious.

I agree with newmine on something!

Yes, whenever anyone insist that the price of something is being pushed down in order for someone big to accumulate, I roll my eyes a bit. :)  Its a standard way to avoid admitting to yourself that you were wrong about where the price was going.  ("I'm not wrong *the market* is wrong!")

If any whale out there cared about Bitshares they would just buy a ton of it currently while its cheap.  There is no need to play elaborate games with the price, they could simply buy it at 1/3 of a cent.

Poor newmine.. needs to go back a week to dig up something to fud with.

Ander buying into the low.

It's actually not my idea.. but one that was presented by someone who is far more involved in the markets than myself. It was presented here in forums.. I don't just watch bitshares... it holds true for the tiny little crypto world in which we live. Any trader with a tiny little slush fund could play all the markets at the same time except for the bigger ones.. the smaller volume ones though are well within reach.

You got a better theory Ander for why since the June 8th announcement it has been on a constant downward pressure? You really think a $50-$100k daily volume cannot be easily played by a handful if not just one trader at a bank with a $100m slush who has chosen to follow cryptos as part of his earnings?

That is far more likely than a 'market of 15-30 people here' as newmine like to put it.
i am going to wait a week to respond to this appropriately.

Could this be an effort on the part of a few whales to destroy BitShares b/c those whales are shifting their investment into other projects and those projects would benefit if BitShares went away? Or perhaps the start of a hostile takeover designed to reduce the value of BitShares so much (the high stakes shareholders being the target) shares and thus power or influence over the BitShares ecosystem can be further consolidated?

If the whales are shifting their investments, How the fuck are they voting?

I made this post months ago and still think this list is accurate for who should update or be voted out

-market.cn.group101
-sollywood.sollars-com
-dev0.nikolai
-tradbts.gulu
-media.bitscape
-www.bts-hk
-dev-metaexhange.monsterer.  Are you guys making enough money in fees to lower your delegate pay?
-media.bitscape
-fund.bitsharesbreakout
-delegate.rgcrypto
-dev.sidhujag
-dev-trial.misc.nikolai
-dev-pc.bitcube
-dacx.baozou
-provisional.bitscape

This must be the 3rd or 4th post addressing this issue. I even started a thread months ago that came to the conclusion that these guys needed to be ousted along with every delegate who refuses to update their progress. Here is my thread and even though I did and do recommend outing all 100%ers, I did agree that a few of them were doing actual work that could warrant staying. However there was a short list compiled by others if who to oust and all these names were on it: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,15497.msg199511.html#msg199511
Liquid democracy is working wonders here. You guys should ponder on why it's not working. I'll tell my thoughts: either too much of the float is controlled by such a small number of voters, or a majority of voters are related to the elected and a "don't rock the boat"/self preservation stance is being taken.

I feel part of the bitshares community now when I have a comment from @newmine in one of my threds, thanks so much :)

Truly you shouldn't even post this if you are "in the know" and "part of the Bitshares community". Ak aka Adam K. Ernest is the marketing guy and the one who is being paid through vesting shares of BTS to do exactly what you are asking for. Talk to Bytemaster and ak.

Honestly, you shouldn't be hearing this from me and it is quite sad.  :(

30 million BTS AK gets for marketing duties and this guy here is canvassing the community for volunteers to do,AK's job.
