If the goal is to show ongoing profitability stats, then that is useful. If the goal is to show the world how profitable BitShares has suddenly become, then I don't think that's worthwhile. Why? Because this burn rate is artificially high due to everyone registering new accounts in the 2.0 software. Over time, we want to see a slow and steady increase in profitability -- that will be much more sustainable.

General Discussion / Re: Buyer and seller not matching up

That's pretty standard for any exchange. Take a look at other exchanges and usually you'll see a similar gap in orders. The ones that do match are filled quickly, so they are a lot less visible. The ones you see are holding out for the price level they want.

We definitely need something more automatic than OPENx and TRADEx. That system is still built for nerds (I mean 'nerds' in a good way, but it's a finite market). This needs to be "click, click, click" easy for the average user.

BTC38 just claimed their cold wallet balance!!!

https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/block/577336

"btc38-public-for-bts-cold claimed a balance of 228,449,248.32348 BTS from balance ID #42386"

Too bad dele-puppy didn't make a commission on that block.

Brownies are a joke. I would much rather just use BTS. Somebody buy up the Brownies and burn them.

Thanks for getting this running! Time to promote!

Even if the core team does not participate, I would think that once we have referral system going, this might be a pretty good avenue for some of you to use in promotions.

Technical Support / Re: No Affiliate System at launch
« on: November 02, 2015, 04:39:06 pm »
i think the affiliate systems already works (look at dacplay), but openledge gives nothing back.

Yea I am aware of that, and it is truly disappointing. That wasn't what was 'planned' from the June announcement, it wasn't what was told to us by Bytemaster or valzav and it is surely should be a concern for the community as the referral system was supposed to be the springboard to get more users and a reward to those who use their energy to promote the system. DacPlay was somehow able to figure out how to get referral links credited correctly in a matter of days after seeing the new system, it is a wonder why the developers chose not to have had it implemented from the get go or at the least have it implemented it in a timely manner. With all the link and banner traffic I am sending to OpenLedger, feels more like a money grab than a referral system.

I'm sure they're working on it. But the wallet and GUI issues probably have taken first priority. No real point in referring folks until we are 100% ready for them. Getting pretty close (we all hope!).

I'm having the same problem as unsoindovo but with the bitshares light wallet:  when I import my bitcoin-qt private key I get the white/blank screen.  My key also begins with L and is 52 characters long.  Can someone verify that the the private key to be in WIF has to begin with 5?  xeroc seems to imply that it doesn't based on his steps below.

how to import NOTES buyed in IPO with BTC????
there isn't a function do do this!
You use the import key tool and put the wif private key for the address you used to buy NOTES in the pre-sale
hi xeroc!
i don't understand.
how to generate "wif private key" from my bitcoin QT-Wallet and then use it to import in my MUSE wallet.
can you explain better?

many thanx!
Can you figure out FROM WHICH address(es) you have donated to the MUSE pre-sale?
you should be able to figure that out from your transaction history in the QT-wallet.

once you know your addresses you can dump their corresponding private keys as described here:
http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/4203/how-can-i-export-the-private-key-for-an-address-from-the-satoshi-client

That string of characters can be imported into muse with the key import tool and afterwards you can claim your pre-sale tokens

Ditto. Still missing most of my balances, so I tried this. I'm also using an "L" key and getting the blank page of death.

General Discussion / Economist article: The promise of the blockchain

This is a short piece from The Economist. It mentions a public ledger for banks. Most importantly, it looks beyond Bitcoin.

Sadly, I don't have time to read 19 pages of posts to see if this has been covered. So I'll just mention (and sorry if it's redundant): the "Wallets" button does not look like a button and is not even intuitive as a link. Please make that more prominent, and more obvious as the means for importing keys.
