General Discussion / Re: March Newsletter
« on: March 24, 2014, 07:56:51 pm »
Please get a high-school English teacher or some other really nitpicky type to review the newsletter for things like its/it's. You guys have been pretty consistently bad about those kinds of basic spelling/grammar things. A huge portion of the population really cares, and will immediately write you off for making these kinds of mistakes. In official Invictus communications, it's just completely inexcusable to be making these kinds of errors. Please please please have someone who knows all the rules proofread it!

Really? What really matters is the transmission of ideas from their brains to our brains. I already read the newsletter think it is great and am very happy to have read an entertaining informative piece. We have better things to do than bicker over every grammatical mistake.

I agree that from a professional perspective, having things reviewed for grammar errors would be better.   It just means the cost of producing the news letter would go up and additional delays on it being published.

I'm quite good (and quick) at finding grammatical errors and rephrasing sentences to better convey an idea.  I would be happy to proofread these before going out.  I always think it's best to have someone review it who had no part it writing it.  :)

lol, bee watching the price drop wide eyed, people are so afraid that rather than chance it for after  the snapshot, they are selling high now.

Or may be selling for BTC to donate to get Angelshares.

YAM is for mining with a pool.  As far as I know solo mining is pretty much pointless, you will never find a block before a large pool does.

I was testing this on my laptop (I tested on my desktop and it worked good).  I have the Radeon HD6490 but I get this error with any options choose.  Error: creating bitmapBuffer.  Any ideas?  Again just trying to see if I can get it to work.

Done! Launch as soon as I get access to a computer with AMD GPU

Do you need access for yourself or are you looking for someone to test out more?

New M7i version of PTS miner is available and named yam - Yet Another Miner. Works with ypool.net and other pools that support XPT proto, including PTSPool.

yam M7i is complete rewrite of yvg1900 miner and has new cmd line and config options. Check readme.txt and yam.cfg for details.
It is faster on all supported platforms, including Win64, Linux64 and MacOS X 64.
PTS miner re-engineered for better support of different CPUs and now supports large pages on Windows. Check docs for more details.

yam M7i supports config files, backup pool connections, proxy and multiple connection handling improvements that reduce share rejections.
PTS miner now has better fine tuning, more precise stats and supports specifying per-thread memory size as configurable parameter.

yvg1900

P.S. M7h version will be available for Chinese users for some time at Baidu, but will be removed later on.

Do you have a link?

Immediately after I start the miner it works for about 2 minutes.  Here's an example:

submit: 020d527e6d7ae2dbe41fdcb2ac1892ed349ef426356a2680fbac1d5ff371d2ea
[MASTER] submitted share -> SHARE

It submits a couple of shares within the first minute or 2 then seems to get disconnected.  After that it will submit more shares, but won't receive any response, and won't work until I start again.  Checking if anyone else has this issue.

numbers of threads can put 4,5-... or like in memorycoin wallet only 2,4,8 .... ?

like the memorycoin wallet, 2, 4, or 8, or 16, or 32, or 64 :)
I set the genproclimit to 8, but when I start it says this:

spawning the worker
[WORKER0] Hello, World!
[WORKER0] GoGoGo!
connecting to 162.243.216.74:1339

Shouldn't it show WORKER0, WORKER1 etc being spawned?  I'm not sure it's using more than one process.  Thanks.

Are we getting killed by other pools when finding blocks (ie. ypool)?  I'm wondering if they just have a lot more workers than us, they are finding about 122 blocks per day.  The payout is good when we do find one, but when it's only 2-3 per day now it doesn't add up to much.

So we have not found a single block since 06:50:44 today?

Yeah it seems like the blocks are coming quite a bit slower.
