I don't even know what the heck Synereo is ... >:(
http://www.synereo.com/learn-more/

To be simple it's a decentralized Facebook that pays you to contribute content to it and use it. Your attention has value and you can get paid for it also because advertisers want to buy your attention the bigger the network gets. This means you can make money from the network effects if you're an early adopter.

This crowdsale could be a big deal.

It would be nice if they accepted BitUSD. Why don't one of you mention it to them? Otherwise it might be too late.

today's drop is due to BTC38's new price setting policy .  a price like 0.043 CNY changed to 0.0435 CNY .... then buy order move out from the big ones and into small buy orders  .... caused panic for no reason .....
Once the policy out , 10 minutes later the price crashed .
nothing to do with the what what what IPO project I can't even spell .....

This is so incredibly ridiculous.  I didn't believe it last night but it is starting to make sense.  The buy orders were spread out across the new digit making the buy walls look smaller and either silly speculators or bots could not adapt to this and went with dumping instead?

Just bought more bitshares... Started with a deposit of $500 and by the time my bitshares moved to my wallet, the overall value was $411.  That is a crazy ridiculous amount of fees and a lot of hassle.  A low cost gateway would make a killing if they are brave enough to work with bitshares.

Granted I did use a credit card to buy the bitcoin, so there was a 6% fee for that...

I'm not sure why you pay 18% or whatever it was. (Well remove 6% for CC... 12%)

It would be interesting to see you list out all the fees you paid.

I wouldn't even know how to lose 12% or 18% without doing it intentionally.

I hate to be right about these things but I think we are almost exactly at bottom. $15 million is the floor and from there I predict we'll go up in price eventually or fluctuate between $15-18 million for the next few months.

I hope people took my advice and bought some BitUSD prior to the most recent price drop. I would say now the price reflects the uncertainty around Ethereum's launch. Now is not the time to buy BitUSD so if you haven't bought it then it's probably too late.

But I could be wrong. Make your own decisions and don't consider anything from me to be investment advice only my own opinions as a complete stranger on the Internet.

You and your predictions.  You are also the guy who used to push to no end that we partner with Blackcoin.

I guessed likely 15 million too but it could easily go lower. It doesn't take some savy market guy to realize that our bitasset adoption has never really got there and competition in that realm is picking up. These new guys will understand marketing, even if we have the better technical solution.  BitAssets are too technical.  Dan was never able to find anyone to do marketing or even explain BitAssets which are still largely misunderstood in the crypto-world.  Who cares about bitUSD over tether/nubits or whatever else?  So few understand the difference and most of them are already in our camp.

Honestly the reason we pick 15 million is because it is a nice round number.

The tricky part for BitUSD is not marketing , but the cost to build the gateway for it .
Unless you use Bitcoin:BitUSD , you'll not be easily expand BitUSD in the US without paying legal and regulatory cost . That's millions of dollars .
Even if we have a killer marketing , we'll still need to pay for those millions of dollars in order to build the bridge .

BitCNY is well promoted and have fiat gateway , but the wallet is still not suitable for massive scale usage even it's easy to promote it in China .

Tether:BitUSD   RippleIOU_USD:BitUSD has been on my mind lately ..... They already paid for the high cost for accessing to banks .... and we could have just pick it up as a portal , just like using OKpay or Paypal ...

At this point in adoption curve, if people believe in bitAssets then they don't need gateways.  We could have gateways and still have the same result. There isn't demand that is prevented from being fulfilled by a lack of gateways.

If the early adopters types are not ready to invest, then gateways will not help late adopters.

I really hope I'm wrong because I still have a decent stake in BTS, albeit considerably smaller than what it once was.

I finished it, then had problems with the wallet crashing.  I think manually unlocking and leaving the wallet unlocked is a better solution which may enable it to work.  I also now need to remove the robohashes from the code now.  Then once that is done, Bitsapphire can install it if they wish.  I planned on finishing this out this week, regardless of whether the wallet crashes or not.

SMF has a hack of a plugin system.  Literally there are just places in the code where you hook into.  You add buttons by regular-expressions, etc.  Things like Drupal etc would likely be much simpler as they're a lot more architected with plugins in mind.

The problem in this thread seemed to disappear, so I am not sure what was going on.

Yup it was pretty fun to do... now I got loginradius who's thinking about integration of bitshares login... talking to CEO, got myself an unlimited development license :P we'll see how it goes.

Idea is that you would install a loginradius plugin for your system (hopefully one for SMF) and off you go.

Yea Drupal is my go to CMS and what I base projects off.  Wordpress is meh.  Problem with Drupal is trying to figure out what version you wish to install... 6,7 or 8.

SMF literally has you add functions that are called at certain points in the code.  Thats where you modify things.  The registration system is very monolithic.  Long functions that do a ton of things.  If you replace the function you are risking breaking things in security updates or version upgrades.

If nothing is done NOW, it's impossible to short, the market peg won't hold, and it's over for us all. But nobody seems to really care... lol. Worst crisis handling ever.
Please have a bit of empathy for the stupid ones who have kept shorting all the way down.

Cannot agree with you more!!!
Comes to show what giant pile of smoking BS the new [now abandoned? - do not know.does not seem that way...] PR is...

So we received a "PR" plan which was the last straw for me. PR meant 'gag-order'. It dwindled my interest to near 0.

But what is really sad is that during this whole mess there has not been a unified front/PR spokesperson.  sigh

Are the two wiki's the same content?.. Is there duplicate detail and then some difference in detail for example installing?

https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/wiki
cf
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Main_Page

I've already wondered the github is the more reliable one.

No, totally different content.  github is almost entirely produced by devs.  wiki.bitshares.org was 98% community 2% devs.

At one point I had stuff of a technical nature but I removed it as it wasn't working..

+5% to everyone.  The wiki is fairly high page ranked etc now. It needs to be saved.  For the end user, AFAIK it is still the best resource.

324
Fix the questions portion.. or just remove the link ?

Design is a definite improvement.

What do you mean period of validity ?

I agree that we should refactor the bitshares wiki and overall documentation into a gitbook format!

What if I told you I've been strategizing a Bitshares project to serve a purpose very similar to that described by  Ethereum Builders? https://blog.ethereum.org/2015/03/20/ethereum-builders-experiment/

@gamey I think he means something anyone can easily send a contribution to via gitbooks, like http://ethereumbuilders.gitbooks.io/guide/content/design_rationale.html

Bitshares Institute will include peer to peer community driven learning in a cMOOC format on p2pu.org, to contribute to the set of learning materials and beginner documentation and foster a strong open source community of collaborators and create materials to help on board new comers to the bitshares ecosystem.

Anyone who wants to be involved with "The Redocumenting" please PM me.  8) I've been getting heads together in Detroit to work on this but would love to expand Bitshares Institute to other locales and it sounds like you would be a great contributor to the effort Ken!

Bitshares Institute is currently working on:
-finishing the Wikipedia.org initial draft
-Syllabus
-Glossary of terms
-Launching website MVP
-Delegate proposal

Other ideas
-Organize community proposals in one place until it can happen on the blockchain
-Evolve the technical documentation of the codebase where we can.
-Support the p2pU course with video material explaining for concepts and practical use cases.
-Work on materials other embassies can use to educate their local communities about Bitshares.

I've been trying to keep this under wraps but as you can tell the bitshares community is in dire need of more educational materials, updated documentation and filling in the gaps, tutorials (video or otherwise). There has been some great work in this area by Max, Riverhead, Xeroc, Cass, and many others. The goal of bitshares institute is to expand on that and help fill in gaps of understanding / reduce the barrier to entry, cognitively and practically!

edit: here's an outline of the topics I wanted to cover at the last meetup- it starts to describe the role I see a Bitshares embassy like Bitshares Institute taking. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OZMwEbDLn5WaxISweAXgdtlJoARhyXgFFS4Z0cI5Tb4/edit

+5%  This has been a huge problem with bitshares for some time.  At one point I was really into trying to push this, even offered to work cheaply in VA but changed my mind over pursuing this because of certain people/decisions involved.  Keep up the good work.

I'm not sure what you are getting at.  The community wiki just needs an account to edit (wiki.bitshares.org).  However, there are 2, the other by the developers that has very technically oriented documentation.  Usually I create accounts for wiki.bitshares.org, on request but some others can do it.  If you wish to edit the wiki on wiki.bitshares.org tell me and I'll create you an account.
Honestly I don't know what you mean by syndicated?

Gamey, I'm not attacking you in any way.
I know tech docs and user docs are totally different but both need to be in a place where we can all pitch in. The job of building and maintaining just the docs alone is going to get way too big for one person to handle. I'd like to help with both the DNS and wiki stuff, but both need to be (dare i say) centralized someplace like github for this. Gitbook would be a major plus.

Doesn't github allow you to syndicate your content from their site to wiki.bitshares.org? I'm sorry, I thought they allowed that. Even the bts website could be hosted from github too.

Rob, I can help you out with just about everything you listed below too.

I sent fuzzy all my personal info if you guys wanna hangout/skype at some point.

By helping Bitshares, I am helping our ePlug project. Of course I have an agenda. I'm also financially vested in Bitshares now and as I can afford it and my trust is earned I am dumping more and more into Bitshares as time goes on. I will do whatever it takes to make my investments succeed.
I'm with ya.

I didn't think you were attacking me in any way, I'm just not understanding why gitbooks is any better than the wikimedia software for collaboration, so I am confused.  I have no ego tied into wiki.bitshares.org, except that it still has a lot of value.

Seems easier to just update wiki.bitshares.org.  If you want to research how to dump wikimedia to a gitbook then feel free, I can get you access or run the process myself.  I actually have been wanting to do a database backup of the site.  Just get the community to agree they think it is a good idea.  I am not sure if the Chinese wiki has been updated lately, I'd need to check the logs.

I don't know what you mean regarding "DNS stuff"...  Are the guys who tried to resurrect it still working on it ?

I'm just lost why you think it is needed to move it all to github.  Just more work that IMO doesn't help with the underlying problem - out of date documentation.

329
The wiki.bitshares.org site is really out of date and as Bitshares progresses it's only gonna get worse.
I'm trying to learn everything I can about BTS before dumping much more money into this. Oh, and yes, I plan on dumping a lot more into this :)

I'd like to help with the wiki but it needs to be syndicated from github first.
Heck, once it's up to date you could even publish it to gitbook so we can all download it as an [always-up-to-date] eBook (pdf, mobi, epub, etc).
A Bitshares 101 second edition if you will.

The Bitshares Toolkit Wiki should move to:
github.com/BitShares/bitshares/toolkit/wiki (or something like that.)

I'd like to contribute to the DNS (.p2p, .dac) stuff too, but it will need to be up on github as well.

Can someone please make the mods on github and get the wiki syndicated so we can start helping out, learn about BTS much faster, and never see outdated docs again?
Please and thanx :)

Wow this thread is lolz. The snowflakes are an improvement but I really truly feel for Cylon.  I hope a chain comes one day that that honors the robohashes.   :'( Improvement can be sad.
