General Discussion / Re: short / medium term price speculation for BTSX
« on: November 05, 2014, 05:24:54 pm »
BTSX had become massively oversold, and momentum indicators were showing a divergence.

We were due for this rise, both in terms of technicals, as well as fundamentals, as the selloff happened due to fear and uncertainty, not due to anything actually wrong with BTSX.

We should now rally hard, for weeks, imo.
1 day MACD is about to give a buy signal unless the price collapses again.  The last time we got a buy signal on the 1 day MACD was in mid august, before the huge rise.

General Discussion / Re: BitUSD is failing HARD

Bter literally has zero liquidity for bitUSD.

According to coinmarketcap, bitUSD is trading at $1.02 right now on the Bitshares asset exchange, which is where you should trade bitUSD if you want to trade it, because there is nowhere else that has any liquidity.

Dollar --- simply reads "Dol" , and "刀" also reads "Dol" in Chinese , so it's a slang for dollar .   The real meaning for "刀" is knife. So if you use a google translator to translate the Chinese slang for  USD , you would end up with "knife" .

Ah!  That makes sense.

I thought that the $500 had been changed into 500 knives because they all felt betrayed or something.   Glad to know that not it.

3124
500 knives properly properly !!

Can someone explain what this means?

Whenever I translate the chat on btc38 they are always saying '500 knives'

I've been silently freaking out about the whole dilution thing.

I'm still hodling because hey, maybe I don't know everything, but I think the community/it's leaders should clearly define a supply cap and stick to it.

I was also silently freaking out until I understood the process and did the math, and realized that actually the dilution rate is not going to be very high.

While the max amount is 6.3% a year, this is reduced by:

* We wont actually be electing 101 paid delegates all the time.  In general, it will be way less.  And if we ARE electing 101 paid delegates, we are probably growing very fast.

* Burn from transaction fees will help offset the inflation.

I figured out that dilution will probably be under 2% a year, and then I stopped worrying about it.

A hard cap would be meaningless because it could be changed at any time. If stakeholders find it more profitable to continue paying employees they will just hard fork the cap away.

Its not meaningless if it requires a lot of effort to change (getting people on board with a hard cap).
Sure, it wouldnt be impossible to change, but it would require effort, and that would give some confidence to investors.

3127
I propose that the hard cap be 2^32 - 1, or 4294967295.

There is almost no chance that this amount would ever actually be reached.  (It would require max dilution for about a decade).

However, I think this might be misleading, because it would indicate that there would 'eventually' be over 4 billion BTS.  I find it unlikely that we ever go much over 3 billion.

I agree that a max supply is useful, and helps to give confidence to investors.

Everyone please go pull your BTSX out of Bter so that I get more interest for keeping it there. :P

General Discussion / Re: More marketing material...

"The Centralized Bitcoin exchanges seem to coordinate their prices across continental divides. "

Its called ARBITRAGE.  Has the author of this article never heard of it?
Its also called: traders watching the price on all exchanges and using that to make decisions.

In general, when someone says: "X is manipulated", you should read that as "I have lost money because I don't know what I am doing, and need something to blame other than myself".  The thought is: "I SHOULD have made money, but some evil sinister force is manipulating the market so that I don't!"

All the things that people like to call "manipulation" are just standard market forces.

Any delegate who has been spreading FUD with the goal of crashing the price for their personal profit should be voted out of all delegate positions as soon as it is clear they are guilty.

It makes me very angry to think that this price crash couldve been caused by a delegate profiding false info to the chinese community.

I think the reason PTS is worth more is that it will stay around and people expect some value of of 3rd party DACs from it in the future.  Someone proposed a plan to make a DPoS currency and sharedrop it to PTS, and since hten the value of PTS has been a bit above the value of the BTS you get from it.

Only way we go below DOGE is if DOGE has a huge rally imo.

General Discussion / Re: Advice wanted: Pay rate for developer delegate
« on: November 03, 2014, 05:37:29 pm »
I agree, while the market cap is low go for full pay.  If you keep showing us good things that you are creating we will keep voting for you.

If the market cap goes up a lot later then you could reduce pay or burn.
