Technical Support / Re: 0.9.0 Still carnt access my wallet
« on: April 24, 2015, 07:55:27 pm »

Few questions:

1) What OS are you on?

2) What are the stats of the wallet machine?

3) When you say, "Uninstalled everything" do you also mean your data directory (location based on OS).

4) How many accounts do you have in your wallet (rough number will do 1 or 2, 10 - 20, 50+)

1. Win8.1 64bit
2. i5-3337U @ 1.80GHz, 5.89GB usable RAM
3. I've deleted the directory and redownloaded the blockchain multiple times last was at 0.8.1, but I have capped internet so I cannot do this often.
4. about 10

I have the same problem with you! (coincidence? I don't think so)
I have version 0.8.0 installed on a linux system....

something weird!
I have the gui version 0.8.0 installed (linux mint)
and today was the first time I couldn't login to my wallet using my password !!!

nothing happens after clicking the button unlock... even not a error/warning message as a result!
And second after I tried to export the wallet, it crashed/disappeared exactly after I selected a backup name and clicked the button save....    :-[

PS going to "Go to my accounts" didn't helped either.

Same problem for me. I had the problem with 0.8.1, and nothing changed with 0.9.0.

Just downloaded 0.9.0 and i still cant get access to my wallet. When i put the password it just keeps looking like its about to unlock.

This is getting frustrating now. I have uninstalled everything and re installed.

Please advise, with simple instructions please.

I am in the same position.

hi,
I have installed BitShares-v0.9.0
I type my password and can not enter the program.
I have this problem since March 2015.
I do not know what to do.
I want to recover my BTS.
What I can do?
Thank you.

It seems that a few other people, myself included, have been having this issue. Windows 8, 64 bit, I'm still running v0.8.1, I'll update if 0.9.0 works for me!

That did not work Xeroc. :(

I've spent too much time on it, I'll update if I find a fix.
version 0.9.0 was released yesterday .. you should try that one .. it fixes ALOT of bugs

Okay, I think I'll give that a shot then, thanks!

The second row gives the age of the last block synced ... Once you see something that is rather small (in the seconds or minutes) you can type "quit" and start the GUI again.

Okay thanks, I will give it a shot and update.

I have been having this same issue. I am on 0.8.1 using a windows. I have successfully used this version multiple times, but this is the first attempts in about a week. As Omgurindanger wrote, some sort of transparent gray box pops up on top of my password (not all the time), but then it goes away. The times that it doesn't pop up, it seems like the unlock button is unresponsive.

You also might have luck trying "use the Go to My Accounts menu item and enter your password in the pop-up dialog".

When I tried this, a dialog box did not pop up.

you are running the latest version 0.8.1?
which Operating system?
If you are on windows, can you try and open the console version in the install directory, called "bitshares_client.exe" and wait for it to show the command prompt ">>>"
or just let the console version run for a few hours to catch up with the network (2.5M blocks)

I'm not sure what you are wanting me to do once the ">>>" pops up, but I did that. It seems like I'm syncing at about 543 blocks/sec. I'll update if anything changes.

General Discussion / Re: Thoughts on this POS criticism?

Thank you Ander for your well thought out commentary. You bring up very good points and some information that was new to me about bitshares. I did not even realize the 101 block snapshot mechanism was in place. No system is perfect, I guess that's the main take away from this. It's plenty easy to critique the current ecosystem with Bitcoin's POW blockchain.

One of his main points is that it is cheap to virtually recreate a new blockchain. I'm somewhat confident that the Bitshares voting system should prevent an attack like this on our POS network?

This is a criticism of proof of stake (POS). I believe he brings up some interesting thoughts to the discussion. What do you think?

I'm on win 8. It's been crashing when I go into the exchange and try to view charts and place orders. Either it crashes or the charts take extremely long time to load.

When I upgraded to .8 I somehow ended up on the forked chain. I've resynced my blockchain and now the client works and can stay synced as long as I don't try to do anything.

Well, I'm glad to have received most my notes. I'm hoping to get a few from BTER, but we'll see. 8)

Now, if only the .8,.8.1 clients were more stable. It's crashing for me more than bitshares ever has. :-\

But that's what you get. Rome wasn't built in a day, not even a Mcdonald's hamburger is.

Okay, thanks.  It worked. +5% Too bad since I'm on a capped internet, but that's the way new software goes. Thank you both for your hard work and strong presence both in the forums and software development.
