Also a low payrate for development delegates is counter productive... How do you expect them to generate ROI if you hamstring their start up funds?  Currently it takes a 100% delagate at least a month to earn enough BTS to do something productive.

If you don't like their payrate then don't vote for them... If enough people agree with you then they will be voted out and have to change their payrate or business plan. Let the open market work

Random Discussion / Re: Ketogenic (Very Low Carbohydrate) Diet
« on: November 26, 2014, 03:54:35 pm »
I plan to stay on the diet the rest of my life.  There are days that I cheat and have a fish fry or beer, but the core of my diet is low carb (<50 per day).

The biggest positive I have noticed is that I havn't gotten sick in the last year.  I use to get sick 3-4 times a year when I was eating a standard western diet.  Also most of my aches and pains have gone away as well.  From what I have read this is because of reduced inflamation.

The one negative I have noticed is that when doing cardio intensive excersise, my energy level is lower if I havn't had any carbs before excersing.

I've done the paleo diet for the last year and it does make a tremendous difference.

You will melt weight away faster than you ever thought and you do it all while eating fat and protein.

The carb flu sucks though as you go through withdrawals.  Only lasts about 3 days though

General Discussion / How to clean up this forum
« on: November 25, 2014, 07:46:55 pm »
As many of you know, this forum is almost impossible to keep up with.  Be it from duplicate threads to posts that are just too damn long...

My proposal is this

-Allow responses/replies up to 200 characters to be free; don't allow back to back posting
-If the response is over 200 characters then charge a BTS fee of 5 bts
-A new thread costs 10 BTS to open
-Threads/Posts that are in incorrect sub-forums can be moved by mods to there correct forums for a 2 BTS Reward
-The remaining collected bts after every 30 day period is burned

I don't know how to run a delegate, but this seems like a job that would be a perfect fit

This would really cut down on the unnecessarily long posts and flame wars that pop up on here and get in the way of the productive threads

should bm consider again to give more power to the free market instead of the feeds?  like he did in the first place? is the market depth not helping right now?at least for bitUSD...

Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 997D

Feeds are required for the time being... at least until we have moved to 1.0 and have an order book 100X as big as it is now.

Without feed restrictions, the market will be manipulated until it blows up

General Discussion / New Marketing Opportunity
« on: November 19, 2014, 02:39:51 pm »
I'm a member of the FXStreet.com Live Analysis room.  We are an online forex trading room that meets 9:00-11:00Am Eastern US time.  We currently have around 100-200 viewers daily. We have had a few crypto currency interviews about bitcoin and one about frankocoin.  People in there seem interested in learning about crypto.

I'm wondering if someone from the marketing team or development team would like to come in an give a presentation on bitshares.  Usually the interviews are at 10:15 eastern and last around 15-30 minutes.

I think this would be a great opportunity to spread the word about bitshares.  I know many are busy leading up to the 1.0 release but maybe something can be planned early next year?

General Discussion / Re: Why BTS is falling like this?
« on: November 18, 2014, 02:14:56 pm »
Considering Bitcoin has had another failing rally and is probably headed sub 300 again... We should see a market cap on BTS near $20 billion before the end of the year.  I think it will maintain its position as the 4th overall market cap crypto as all the other cryptos will fall with bitcoin.

The pain is far from over in the crypto currency space, and we won't hit bottom until everyone who is saying "I bought more" or "I bought all I can and am holding" has panicked and sold.  Only then will we get the turn and a sustained bull market.  Markets are an evil beast designed to prey on your emotions, and make the fewest amount of people money.

A good quote from Paul Tudor Jones "Do the trade that makes you wan't to puke"...  I havn't seen many BTS bulls looking for the barf bags lately

Sounds like your looking for someone to tell you everything is going to be OK with your investment...

I'll give you a tip.  Go in with a plan for your investments.  Know what criteria will get you out of the trade (i.e. Price level break, fundamental shift, regulation...). This way you can sleep easy and relax with your decisions.  Asking us if you should hold on to your investment is just a form of confirmation bias.  Answer this question for yourself, "What did you think we would say?"  Obviously on this forum 99% will tell you to hold and this thing is going to the moon, but that will be of little solace if the price crash's and you lose 50% or more of your investment.  A very likely possiblity.

You arent trading on interbank which is real market.. ask yourself where your trade goes.. Lots of ppl made money but odds are stacked against u sooner or later you will see.

Maybe some shady eastern european brokers manipulate and restrict withdrawals, but no regulated US brokers do that.

Your order would take forever to get filled if it was put right on the interbank because there aren't orders always sitting right on the bid/ask.  If your order is large enough the broker passes it on to the interbank market, otherwise they match it in their own pool of funds.  Plus interbank ECN trading is more expensive because of the commisions charged to put the order on the interbank.

The broker is required to provide liquidity and match orders.  BTS will need something like this to succeed as a trading instrument.  Liquidity is king.

Thanks guys.

I should have pre-empted this in my original post.  My bad.   Better late than never.

If there was liquidity in the bit asset markets would it be a desirable place to for short, medium or long term traders? How would the fees compare?

Fees in Forex are charged by commision and/or spread. When bitAssets become more liquid i'm guessing the spread will be about the same as a regular stock, 1-3 cents.  The interface has to change, but I think that will come with liquidity.  Look up MT4 and that is what will be needed for a minimum for traders to consider trading bitAssets.

BTW... the vast majority of forex brokers have no interest trading against their clients.  That's just an myth spread by people who have not had success trading.  I've made thousands trading forex and have withdrawn thousands as well... never had a problem getting my money

IMO the real advantage that crypto provides over forex trading is transparency. In forex, depending on the broker, you can be trading against a feed price and have absolutely no influence on the market whatsoever because your orders are never hitting the real order book (on the ECN network) where the feed comes from.

If your order is big enough, a dealing desk broker will put that order into the main market.  99% of all currency traders couldn't move the market 2 pips even if they leveraged their entire portfolio 20X
