.bts is good but we should take .dac too

remember bts will trade all over the internet on exchanges, so the letters "bts" will come to mean "bitshares" pretty fast

Most shops in the US can accept bitAssets just with their phones, unfortunately they aren't doing enough volume to really need a better solution.

and so I think what CrazyCripple is saying is if there is a really simple wallet that doesn't really having trading or complex features

a wallet actually geared at non-crypto users.

I think a lot of the population that HATES bitcoin today, will accept bitAssets tomorrow

that could be a powerful adoption tool

So as far as I understand Bitshares the real value of the system will be trading BitAssets. Shorting and longing Bitshares will be much too complicated for the standard user. There has to be an interface for this user where he can buy bitUSD or any other asset and send it to another user. This way I can go to my local store which accepts BitAssets to buy my coffee directly in my currency. Marketing should concentrate on BitAssets then right? BitAsset users won't care how the price is being tracked as long as it is the same or close to the real world asset.

Are we going in that direction?

Answer to this would be much appreciated as I now cannot sleep because I think I finally understand the huge potential of this system. :D

After really taking time to understand your post,

I do believe that BitAssets could be marketed very successfully.  In fact success could be immense.
(the strength of bitAssets is that you don't have to believe bitcoin is money, or any such thing.  You just have to believe the blockchain is mathematically sound, which even hardcore bitcoin skeptics will admit)

I think we should start brainstorming about a POS system.  If I can add this to my register I can accepts bit assets, like BitUSD or BitGold, a "petro dollar"  whatever.

Problem is, all the POS systems out there won't let you just add some hardware or code to it.'

Any solutions?

I think we should do whatever we can to get all the alt-coiners to come here.  It will probably kill the alt-coin bubble too, when they can swap it for BitGold or BitUSD.

Look, you do not have to be a good salesman to "convince" a business to take BitUSD.

I just pondered today what this project is doing.

Any business in America has to be slightly crazy to NOT take BitUSD.

And that is incredible.

But because BitUSD will be a function of Bitshares, do we know how fast transactions can confirm and if a POS system is viable?  I really think this is a knockout slam dunk grand slam if we could expect good transaction speeds.

Although I will say I still don't know how to get a wallet.dat out of blockchain.info

but they have plenty of export methods, so I'm sure it will be fine and it was already listed an acceptable wallet to donate from

You can just import the private key to a Qt-Wallet or a blockchain.info wallet
And when Bitshares are available just import the wallet.dat

Thank you jabba,
at one time I did believe my donation was gone forever.

I haven't responded to this thread, but I have now made the time to do what you suggested and it worked flawlessly.  I have my wallet under my control with blockchain.info now.   8)

Did you donate from a wallet you control?  If so Invictus will have a wallet that we import our private key into, then in that wallet the shares can be granted.

Until then you just have to keep it safe.

Don't donate from an exchange or from Coinbase.

~130,000 shares should be available when the market opens (sellers willing to sell between $1-5)

I thought opening price will be $1,000  8)

jk, or... maybe?

OH WOW, that's a relief.

I have everything backed up, you can back up KryptoKit, I used it on a whim, its not good for this kind of thing

Maybe for spending a few milibits here and there

Thanks for you help, I will probably still need help again when it is time to export it to Bitshares wallet...  If that is possible, but I take this as a good sign that I will be OK

:'(  It doesn't let me have the private key.  The support didn't answer my email 'would I ever be able to export the wallet'

How screwed am I?  Can I export a Krypto-Kit wallet?  Can I hijack my own broswer?  I think the private key is encrypted.  :'(

BitShares AGS / Re: Today the last day to get AGS? 27/02
« on: March 01, 2014, 03:45:04 am »
I contributed Bitcoin on the 27th and it seems to have registered on the 28th. Any guidance before I jump to conclusions?

sometimes it takes a while for the network to find a block, and/or the timestamp is off, so the donation may be counted on the next day if you donate late in the day.

The 28th yielded more AGS than the 27th but if you want to switch send me a msg   ;)

and if I don't really like it later I am sure I can get a new handle, but we'll see, I hope Ethereum is good
