Use like so - for block 32000 - don't forget to add 1.

   for(int i=0;i<32001;i++){
      processNextBlockIntoGrantDatabase();
   }

yay, you finally came around. check your inbox.

Of course the answers to the rhetorical questions you ask are obvious. Also, the ideas I have presented are naturally outrageous in that they have probably never been tried. But that something has not been tried does not necessarily make it impractical. Nobody may ever know whether it's practical unless they try it.

My expectations about how people would respond to a Public Domain development kit are based on what I think my personal responses would be: I think I would be thunderstruck, and that it would win over my good will even more, and I would want to use the tools in the context which those who release it ask (yet do not demand). But my expected personal response isn't necessarily a predictor for how others would respond.

I do think the general guidelines bytemaster outlined in his OP would work very well, and I'll happily support whatever the community/Invictus decides is best.

The reason your argument is failing to truly engage me is you keep skirting past the Business concerns and elaborate so much on giving it out for free, reliance on good will and trying something new. Copyfarleft is new, well relatively.

And you expect investors to be happy about this? do try explaining all this to someone who bought 5k PTS and bought 1k PTS worth of AGS. Most of what you speak of is ideological with no Business vector, we do not feed on ideas alone. This is a capitalist world and we intend to capitalize on our ideas.

Just who do you think is paying for the development kit you intend to use on said DAC you are ruminating on? As one of the guys helping out in that area i totally reject your ideas, we wanna get rich that's why wer are here, not some noble cause. I create a dev kit and am paid 10k PTS, who do you think paid the 10k? You expect that person to just giveaway that tool without trying to guarantee personal benefits from it?

Welcome to capitalist decentralization, the first fluid mix of capitalist and collective principles that encourages business but upholds privacy. Here we innovate and develop with global talent unrestricted in our creativity. We encourage those who wish to use our ideas and material to join and work with us for a better more decentralized future.

When i am done with the coin-control version of PTS i will pay attention to this, i have already talked to the original dev.

These are all great points. When thinking about the other side of the argument I have visions of FUD in the form of

"centralized"

"they changed what they originally sold shares for"

"they can't be trusted"

Just for reference what are we talking about here Dan? Like an MVP in Feb as opposed to a full product at the end of march? Where do you guys think our competitors will be along this timeline?

Our competitors haven't even realized the problems they have to overcome.  Anything based upon mining will be destroyed in the market because mining is an expense that eats the profitability of the DACs and ultimately centralizes control.   This means that everyone will end up having to change their designs to replace mining to stay competitive.   Mining also slows block production and is not viable for blockchains with markets built in because the 'miner' has the power to control what transactions get in the block.

Our competitors are all based upon 'one blockchain to rule them all' mentality which is a side effect of the mining mentality.  These systems will not scale in the end.  They may spring up quickly, but will die once reality hits that a 'market' is different than a 'currency' in terms of transaction volume.

Mastercoin has so many inefficiencies, and baggage from being layered on top of Bitcoin and the original designer isn't even working on the project any more.  I wish them well, but they too will end up having to move to their own blockchain and this will set them back in development.

In other words, I am not aware of any competitor that actually understands the nuances of DACs, blockchains, and the like at the level I do today and their lack of understanding is going to set them back dramatically in the long run.

I am sure I have things I do not yet fully appreciate or grasp, but what I do get shows me that the competition is far behind.

The FUD and legal risk arguments are the primary argument against MVP.   However, FUD is just a profit opportunity for those who can see through it because in the end FUD has no substance.

I believe that a MVP that is command line / JSON-RPC based where the 'consensus' algorithm as a Unique Node List of 1 will be viable especially once I lay the mental framework that demolishes the false decentralization offered by Bitcoin, Ripple, and other mining based systems.    Bitcoin is effectively centralized in GigaHash + 1,  Ripple is centralized in the inner circle cartel that makes up the Unique Node List.   The only thing that is required to eliminate the need to 'trust' is to eliminate the potential of cheating and getting away with it.  The only thing required to be decentralized is market competition and elimination of barriers of entry.

I think our marketing will begin to shape the narrative in a way that our competitors will have a hard time escaping from.

In conclusion I think a MVP may be the best way to go as a stepping stone to realizing the final goal.   When can such a MVP be available, I cannot say for certain but probably sooner than may think and later than I would estimate.

I think if we use a token system we can solve this problem.

1000 encrypted tokens are passed around and whichever machine has the "active" token, destroys it and creates another encyprtes token and passes it along. In the even a machine with the active token goes offline, one of the other tokens goes active and that machine creates two tokens, one to pass on and another to replace the lost one. machines trust level with token is based on time online and how many token passed around successfully. The higher the trust, the more "fees" it earns.

I worked on a lot of issues along these lines when i began laying ground work for some of my ideas, and i was always told that it seemed as though the authorities would be making an exception, which they never like to do.

So, i have been working on a crafting the Articles of Decentralization, similar to Articles of Association which are used to define and govern how companies operate, If we have such a document then we have begun laying the foundation that Legalizes DACs.

If we have Bitshares on Board as well as 3 other DACs based in different parts of the world we can then support the "international" part of it. We will then set out to create frameworks similar to how authorities regulate normal companies, but ours will keep in mind the decentralization and privacy parts.

All this gives us a conversation point when we try to pitch our businesses to authorities and even when a bank does their KYC, we'll have structures recognizable for them to interact with. Some lucky guys in less restrictive countries will get ahead first and thier fame will help our cause in restrictive territories.

I have PTS client v4.8.5 that I am trying to run on windows7.
I have tried adding every node I can find on the forum without any luck   ???

Any suggestions?
Thanks

you have tried the one i linked in this thread?
Just tried it. The PC says its missing ddl file libgcc_s_dw2-1. But I have downloaded this file.

edit: I have now got the client to work and added a bunch of nodes, but still nothing. Its fine though, I will just keep using the mac version.

Thanks

this is worrisome, i'll speak with the other guys in charge of this and we'll try figure out what is going on.

Its 0xb8 (184). Figured out comparing Litecoin version numbers.

what you wanna use it for if you dont mind my asking?

A paperwallet generator.

https://github.com/donSchoe/ptsaddress

If you could write that in C++ we would then they to integrate it into the client to allow people to just have a hard copy of their wallets, perfect for cold storage and back up.

Just dump private key and send it to your printer. There is not much code to add. :)

having the option in the GUI allowing splitting the funds into multiple wallets and dumping the collective keys onto seperate sheets sounds nice. anyway i already added coin-control to the source code. I'll work on it in my spare time.

Individuals might be able to violate it if they are willing to ignore the law, but businesses cannot.

Considering the money and support behind PTS most individuals that have at least a basic understanding of the crypto-world will jump at the chance of having a ready user/customer base.

Even a copy-paste idiot will see the immeasurable advantage, we can now deploy pools, explorers and we are working on new tech that is based of the PTS code. Why take an unnecessary risk of going it alone, when they have all that at their disposal for free?

I should be able to follow your instructions with the script/tool to produce said CSV file for any given block.   So yes, a if a tool is required to follow the instructions then that will be required.  Notice, that simply saying how to build the tool is not sufficient.

Bottom line, when I can follow your instructions and produce the desired CSV file with less than 10 minutes of time then we will have a good result.

Now trying to simplify

wow much comment!!! very word!! lol

It's great to see that people are showing more interest in this document. I'd like to start by asking, do you understand what AGS is, not only the name but what it represents? A lot of people have made some donations and taken some risks to form a collective that shall be the Genesis of Decentralized Autonomous Companies. Just like Bitcoin changed how people think of money in a way, DACs are a revolutionary idea for how to conduct eCommerce.

I hope you are not offended but your speech has deep roots in anarchism, which frankly does not work for any business model. Note, i say BUSINESS. This community is not actively seeking to circumvent traditional systems, we have a vision, that of decentralized enterprises that function completely virtually and benefit us. We intend to at some point interact with businesses that operate in the physical world and as a result wee must take that into account. The idea of decentralization and anonymity may have relevance to anarchism, but that is another conversation.

Digital currency is not illegal, it is just unregulated tender. In the event that it's acceptance becomes wider, as you say the Big Boys will want in. We are not blocking them, we are saying, let them bring their ideas, money and join the collective so that we all benefit. Should such an entity exist and wish to use our ideas and software, which as you said come from nothing, they should not have a problem giving us 10% of nothing.

DACs are not a snub at other organizations, They are business and as such the property should be treated thus. I have invested a certain amount and so have many others, and we would like to protect our investment, not by completely making our product inaccessible, but by making it accessible to those who wish to create value with us. That is what copyfarleft is about. It benefits the community, and not on an obscene scale.

Another things is, should one of the "Big boys" want in, they can easily go make their own, even as far as making it from scratch, they benefit nothing except possible litigation by coming here. You seem very interested in the workings of large companies, i work for one, and i can tell you that if they become interested in PTS 50 million is an amount they would easily shell out to buy all the shares out there. Hell, they would just post a standing offer that would entice all holders to sell without a noticeable dent in their account.

My point is, we want to protect the investments of time money and labour, an just as it states in the license, if you wanna use the software 10% is a pittance if your business model is good. And along with that 10% comes a large amount of free marketing, experienced programmers to consult, infrastructure and the added caveat that the PTS you hold will entitle you to a % of other DACs.

The only person loosing out here is copy-paste profiteers and those who would take the ideas out of the community without paying royalties. So no, i do not believe your idea is applicable on investors funds and ideas.

I talked with Andy last night and he said he is about 75% done tweaking the work barwizi started with.  I suspect he will be posting his edits soon.

I'll be waiting to see. This document is a priority, already it's absence is causing problems.

He has been sending me questions from time to time, so I know he is actively working on it.  Just got a question a minute ago.

lol, didnt we agree on public development  :D
