I sometimes have the opposite feeling, that bitUSD is more shiny than and old farty USD, but that's just me lol.

Its possible that the bitassets could carry a premium over the real asset because bitshares offers a yield.

+ better transferability (if the other person can receive it, as in global, can send it to a name rather than a bank account) + privacy.

+5% Some other good points Matt.

It was an IPO, with promises of all great things. They atracted quit Some btc.
The only impressive thing was that they went from 0 to 40 terraflop hash in à day.
But since gaw miners is behind it, it should raise a couple of flags.

They sell pay coin on their website for 20 usd, and this is somehow going to guaranty their marketcap.
So all idiots aboard, last call to lose your money.

Honestly I don't understand how people can still fall for this crap.

This shows you how undervalued Bitshares is right now. That some scam coin can raise a $50 million dollar market cap in such a short period of time.

General Discussion / Re: Can BTS be used for website authentication?
« on: December 21, 2014, 07:58:00 pm »
While looking for updates on Keyhotee (and ultimately, a compelling alternative to gpgAuth), I came across this post:

Secure mail and IDs will be built into Bitshares.

Is BTS at a point where somebody could build a website and/or browser plugin that uses BTS for website authentication?

IIRC the Bitshares DNS will do this and get rid of man in the middle attacks.

Looks like it is centralized by "USD reserves":

Proof Of Reserve
PayCoin™ is backed by a fiat-based reserve of USD that shields early adopters from risk and increases acceptance by large institutions.

It's moments like these when I wish I could easily short these pump and dump coins.

Yes, I really wish there was a way to short scam coins. BTS should eventually trade altcoins at some point, right?

DevShares / Re: How to increase the value of Devshares
« on: December 21, 2014, 07:29:01 pm »
Keeping PTS + AGS alive makes explaining BitShares more complicated, that's a reason not to drop on them.  When you get to the part about explaining about the occasional sharedrops you have to then explain PTS + AGS.  Admittedly this isn't a major part of BTS due its massive feature set, but still, it confuses an already very complex message and will inevitably cause some BTS buyers to give up.  Better to nip it in the bud or the squabbling will happen every time.

All else I can say is BTS drop does incentive PTS + AGS due to the BTS drops on those chains, so PTS + AGS are being over-incentivized, and pure BTS holders under-incentivized.  If a truly even drop on all 3 groups was desired then it would be more like 20/20/60 or 15/15/70.

 +5% I agree.

General Discussion / Re: What's the realistic BTS potential?
« on: December 18, 2014, 02:33:20 am »
Just interested to know what people realistically think BTS price could achieve. $1 seems to me to be  very achievable for such a technology, probably much more.

Thanks
M

A trillion dollar market cap would push the price per share into the hundreds. If Bitshares delivers on what it promises a trillion dollars is possible. Most brokerage firms worth their salt manage a few trillion.

It may seem crazy but if I posted on Bitcointalk in 2009-2010 that Bitcoin would go from $0.10 to $1200 people would laugh at me. The trick is to hold on and not sell out otherwise you will end up like thise people who sold bitcoin at $1 instead of holding. In my opinion Bitshares will either change finance or it will fail, no in between.

Realistically I think $10 is acheivable. (roughly 30 billion)  I am curious on what other people think.I might be crazy but I see huge potential if Bitshares works.

When will we have a stable client where there will not be an update every 24 hours? I may just wait to update my personal wallet until 1.0 is released.
