Technical Support / Re: Bitshares 0.9.3 wont sync
« on: October 05, 2015, 09:36:46 am »
I have a similar problem.

I updated the windows desktop client to 0.9.3c and it stopped syncing at 99% , block 3701575 .

However the client is updating the current existing blocks.. Any ideas what to do? I got my backups for 2.0 already.

I think we need to delete the chain folder and start over. I have the same problem so I was wondering if there is a solution to this without deleting the whole chain and start over since this will take days...

Technical Support / Re: Can we have some lawyers advising on this?
« on: October 04, 2015, 08:21:48 am »
I see that a lot of people looked at this post already and no one cared to answer..

No one has any opinion about the legality of things and no one cares to protect others from doing something they might regret later on?

If we want bitshares to succeed we need to have clear responses about why bitshares and the referral program is legal at least in the US and EU.

When I speak to serious investors of the current financial world I need to have clear responses to be able to explain them the legality of things..

So I will ask again:
if I advise people to register in bitshares under my name so I can earn the referral fees will I be breaking the law? If not why?
Do I need to have a disclaimer in my website?
Do I need a licence for doing this?
I assume that once I convert biteur to euro I will have to pay taxes but if I keep them in biteur no taxes are applicable correct?

How do I reply to questions like:
You can not exchange anything without getting taxed. Even if I exchange meat for bread you need to disclose somewhere this exchange or else it is illegal.
Bitcoin, biteur, bitusd are not the official Government money therefore they are illegal
Biteur is a financial derivative and a swap for euro and therefore are illegal and you need to have a licence to trade.
etc etc..

We need to be specific with these things.

Technical Support / Can we have some lawyers advising on this?

Can we have some lawyers involved in cryptos advise about this and how this affects bitshares and more specifically with the referrals?

Specifically I would like to know:
if I advise people to register in bitshares under my name so I can earn the referral fees will I be breaking the law?
Do I need to have a disclaimer?
Do I need a licence for doing this?
If we speak about the price of a crypto are we breaking the laws now because people can see this as an advice?

I am trying to save my backup file json using fav's instructions and 0.9.3c. Apparently I am doing something wrong...

1. First of all I am stuck synching @ 3711503.. Does this matter? Can I still create the necessary JSON file backup or do I need to synch first? (i.e. delete everything in bitshares folder except chain and wallet and try again?)

2. I typed in the console wallet_export keys <a name> I got a message ok. I am looking for that name in my pc and I can't find it. I have looked at %appdata%bitshares and it is not there...

I knew I am going to have problems with this.Any help is appreciated. Please very very stupid instructions...

Bytemaster is contacting exchanges the coming week ..

+5% +5% +5% that is what I have been waiting ti hear!

412
we haven't seen any official announcement from any exchange that will honor the upgrade or what it will do in terms of trading bts1 bts2 or both..

in the past there were always announcements from the exchanges that they will honor the snapshot or not. This is the first time. So I guess that no one from the devs has contacted them officially. This is something that I not any other member can do I think. The devs have to do it. I cannot contact an exchange and tell them how to upgrade and what they should do if things are not ready yet..Devs do these things..

I am starting to lose my patience after 2 years of long bagholding..
Why is that? What has changed? Do you see BitShares fail out of sudden?

My guess would be that you are just in a bad mood and maybe depressed because of recent manipulations. That or you are trying to FUD (which I doubt)

You are right xeroc I am sorry...I am just in a bad move today because I get pissed off when i see the price plummeting like that for no reason...
But some answers to the below questions are needed though..People and exchanges do not know what to do with the transition and what they should do with bts 1 and this creates unnecessary risk to the whole project.

414
1) The Devs haven't yet approached exchanges trading bts to clarify the transition
2) We don't know if BTS2 will be actually traded on exchanges
3) We don't know if exchanges and which exchanges will honor the upgrade
4) Now we have a question about the launch date?

suddenly $13 mil of bts market cap starts to look very expensive..lol..

we need to start acting more professionally. Don't expect people to get on board with bts2 if they are completely burned with bts1 due to manipulation of pre bts2 price and if bts market cap is at these levels pre snapshot how high do you expect this to be after launch? And I mean real value of market cap and manipulated pumps to attract some attention..

I am starting to lose my patience after 2 years of long bagholding..

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares price discussion
« on: October 02, 2015, 11:03:53 am »
the problem with bts is that long term supporters of the project are bagholders who lost 90% of their money by irrational and bad decisions of the past and don't have anymore to invest.
so i think that these fluctuations are due to new people who don't really care about holding bts but only day trade.
If the old investors of bts who dumped a year ago do not come back to re invest massively or we do not attract any new serious whales who want to hold for some time and invest in bts then the price will never go up.
i have done my part for over 2 years buying at any level and unfortunately i don't have absolutely nothing to invest anymore in any crypto. I don't have even a single 0.1btc to invest..that is just sad.. :(

+5% +5% to luckybit for discovering these things!!

I will speak with liondani and contact them.

In the meantime I want to play the devils advocate a little bit:

1) Why would this specific company be interested in bitshares and use biteur? They have already their monetary system 1TP = 1 euro. Simple and easy and no technical skills whatsoever.

2) Why a LETS company would want to use bitshares and not just a simple trading  point system? Please list a couple of arguments..

3) How can no technical guys who don't know and don't want to know about shorting biteur to themselves would be able to find biteuros?
How the liquidity problem of bitassets can be solved?
They will need external partners providing the biteur liquidity right? Do we have anyone in mind?

4) What can we offer as a community to technically help a company like this or any other LETS company?

These are the questions that we need to have answers I think in order to present bitshares and bitassets to any company..

@mf-tzo when you create account in web wallet, faucet will send you 1000 CORE on testnet, not 10000.  I guess you might mistakenly thought it's 10k.  This is probably where the 'missing' 9k goes.  Anyway, you can check out the recent transactions to verify.

lol..i am an idiot..
