General Discussion / Re: BTS gateway for altcoins?
« on: February 06, 2015, 07:36:29 pm »
Shapeshift.io is already an awesome gateway from all the major coins into BTS and bitUSD.
More gateways of this type could be good but don't do anything we can't do already.

A gateway from fiat directly into bitAssets would be what we want to add the most.

As someone pointed out shapeshift is really a bridge. It relies on other exchanges for price discovery, which could take place inside Bitshares if someone issued UIAs for altcoins.

The price will probably have to change

What about that proposal that theoretical (I think) made a while back, for all 4 letter names to be available and come into existence when delegates agree on a pegged asset description? Did that go anywhere?

General Discussion / BTS gateway for altcoins?
« on: February 06, 2015, 07:18:31 pm »
Would we like to see a gateway site that takes deposits of altcoins (Bitcoin, Dogecoin etc) and issues UIAs to trade on the blockchain (i.e. a BTS gateway version of Cryptsy)? Or do we only want to see a gateway for fiat currency?

General Discussion / Re: BitGold Added To Bter- Buy Now
« on: February 05, 2015, 08:28:34 pm »
but all the exchanges that have added bitassets so far have called them bitXYZ not bXYZ.  Making them switch might annoy them.

Better to do it now then rather than put it off for later when it could be even more annoying.

I say stick with bitXYZ. Lets reinforce our bitGLD and bitUSD brand names.

General Discussion / Re: Help get BitGold on every BTS exchange!
« on: February 03, 2015, 11:22:12 pm »
aren't our top 2 delegates from yunbi?

Yep, and I'm sure they will implement bitgold, bitUSD, bitsilver as soon as we start asking for it :) They currently have CNY/bitCNY but it's getting zero volume because bitCNY isn't that interesting a product when coming from fiat.

Toast said they're the best bet for bitgold so I'm optimistic!

Can we also ask them to accept BitCNY as equivalent to CNY just like btc38 does?

Seeing as that BM realises BTS is about to fail and is putting it in as a desperate step, everybody should vote yes.

I agree to the extent it looks a bit desperate that we cant think of other ways of getting people to use the wallet than by putting tacky bingo games into it.

spoiler alert : BTS is gonna go viral in several months due to some major promotion effort in China , unless we do something to drag their feet . A crowd funding company already got millions of USD of VC to operate their operation on BTS . That's once in a life time opportunity for BTS .

As a matter of fact , all they want is no more surprises , a stable wallet and protocol ,  everything will work out eventually .

Lol I think we need a bit of NewMine.

General Discussion / Re: when can BTSX mail GUI release?

As I understand it the mail system is still used for light wallets under the hood. Is that correct?

General Discussion / Re: Consensus on the list of delegates
« on: February 01, 2015, 04:20:46 pm »
Do the shareholders have the same list of the delegates? If they do then how the consensus is achieved?

Yes all shareholders see the same list directly from the blockchain, which you can also see here: http://bitsharesblocks.com/delegates

Votes are added up and the top 101 get in. For example from the client I can see that the top delegate is yunbi with 18.64% of all BTS voting to approve them, i.e. 465,995,430 BTS.

550
Is the site still going to show market charts from the internal exchange?

551
Max its a great explanation, but its still too long for most people to casually read, even though youve condensed it to a minimum amount possible to get all the important details.

I think all the details could be conveyed in a short cartoon video in the style of the "What is Bitcoin" video. Youve basically got the script for it right there. This would be more watchable than reading several paragraphs of text.

General Discussion / Re: Decentraliced Dice Game is a awsome idea!

As soon as scripting is added to BitShares, you can code any kind of gambling game you want into the blockchain, and no regulations apply.

General Discussion / Re: Will gateways actually catch on?
« on: January 30, 2015, 11:33:10 pm »
There is actually a huge advantage of the gateway/IOU system - issuing an IOU on the blockchain means that the set of users who can potentially trade it automatically becomes the entire set of BitShares users, not just the small set of customers of an exchange.

554
Yeah you titled that perfectly :)

555
Real question is: how many years do we estimate it will take for us to become profitable and earn more income than what is being spent on payed delegates?
