Why moved from Sticky?

Actually people ignore sticky posts.

So we should change basic forum functionalities that serve purpose for nearly 2 decades millions just because of dozens of ignorant users ?

e.g. If there is no activity on the post, it will drop to bottom of the 1st pagination page or even move to 2nd. If its set to sticky, it remains on top forever.

It's true a lot of people ignore sticky posts.....IF the subject is irrelevant to their needs or interests or they have read it all before.. but I assumed that BitShares Marketing would be relevant to all, (except Spam bots) and would last until

a)  the end of the Internet
b) the end of BitShares (purchased by Facebook?)
c) the end of Oil  or
d) the end of money   (i.e when everything is free !)

Dinwiddie To Securitize NBA Contract

https://www.ccn.com/dinwiddie-leads-crypto-charge-tokenizes-his-nba-contract/

[EXCERPT...]

A New Kind of Contract
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the NBA player will convert his contract, worth $34 million over three years, into a digital token.
He plans to start his own company which will "securitize" his contract into digital form and allow him to receive a lump sum payment. Charania said Dinwiddie will likely receive less than the total amount upfront.

By securitizing his contract, Dinwiddie loses out on some future income in exchange for the lump-sum payment. However, he would have more money to invest immediately.

Charania explains in The Athletic,
"A token is a digital currency term. The bond exists in the digital currency world. Instead of buying the bond from a broker, it is through a token.
According to sources, this Dinwiddie bond would pay investors principal back and interest, which would be covered by what the Nets owe him."

If anyone was going to tokenize an NBA contract, it would be the guy who describes himself on his Instagram page as "just a tech guy with a jumper." Dinwiddie has a history of investing in bitcoin. He even said his shoe brand would accept the flagship crypto.

Not long after he retweeted a video of Draymond Green praising LeBron James for showing athletes how to take control of their future, he simply tweeted out "$btc." It got a cute response from crypto exchange Binance BitShares. {if only this were true}

He's not the only professional sports player who's touted bitcoin. Chargers tackle Russell Okung recently changed his Twitter handle to "Pay Me in Bitcoin."
NFL quarterback Matt Barkley has requested payment in bitcoin from several teams.

Could Brooklyn Nets Go Full Crypto?

As more players get serious about investing, the hype about bitcoin and tokenized contracts will likely only grow. In fact, don't be shocked if Dinwiddie gets his new superstar teammates onboard.
All-star Kyrie Irving and former MVP Kevin Durant both landed in Brooklyn this summer. Durant, who just signed a four-year contract worth $164 million, owns an investment company, Thirty Five Ventures. Surely, Dinwiddie will be in
his ear about crypto. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving, who just signed a four-year/ $136 million deal, is a no stranger to counter-culture. He once announced that the Earth was flat. It probably won't take much to convince him that our centralized monetary system is flawed and bitcoin is the answer.

[Excerpt..]

Bitcoin and its blockchain technology are not only dramatically changing the FinTech industry, but they are also disrupting other industries sectors, including sports.

For example, a soccer team bought a player using a digital asset. In effect, in 2018, one of the first transactions using cryptocurrencies in soccer, occurred when the Turkish team Harunustaspor bought a 22-year old footballer named Omer Faruk Kıroglu. Harunustaspor completed this transaction using Bitcoin.

On the other hand, cryptocurrency-based betting platforms are becoming popular in sports. As Bitcoinist reported earlier, Decibet is a platform that enables people to bet on several soccer leagues from all over the world. Decibet platform accepts major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dash

Maybe Committee and CN-Vote China and Peerplays can join forces to kickstart to fund development and promotion of  BTSBet a platform that enables people to bet on several soccer leagues from all over the world, and accept major cryptocurrencies and bitCNY, bitUSD, bitEUR, bitGBP, bitKRW, bitYEN, etc., and then allow other investors to buy in to fund continued growth?

Topic: [Draft][Worker Proposal] Global Marketing Board

The proposal outlines a really good structure and scalable framework for future growth..

It could also be a model to allow for a lot more of the community's input and energy to be channeled in a considered and deliberative way and to continue long term, proactive development rather than always reflexively reacting to events or price volatility.  {Sometimes yes it's appropriate to react quickly but not as a SOP (standard operating procedure).}

Instead of  "worker"  I agree it should be called Council or Board or as I've suggested before....DeCEO and apply it to different functional and strategic areas...since its purpose is directorial and not advisory in nature and language is important to convey unambiguous meaning.

DeCEO Marketing  -
Board Level -   decisions/recommendations on conferences, budgets, individual worker proposals approval, branding
Manager level - News and PR, Advertising,  Regional or Country marketing initiatives, social media and promotions management
Supervisor level -  e.g where to dedicate language resources or coordinate translation volunteer efforts for smaller markets..

DeCEO - Technology :  - tech evolution and potential adoption, network security issues, user experience enhancements e.g hardware wallets, prioritizing feature development, incorporation of mobile, stealth, etc

DeCEO  -  Strategic Business Cooperation --  partnerships, collaborations, etc. -  e.g. consurmer goods retailers, distributors,  service providers, Wirex, BEOS, Citadel [https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=26310.0], Wirex, etc.,

DeCEO   -  Research projects -  e.g. UCCS BioPhil's,  Norns, Hackathons, new BitShares products, etc., DEX competitors pros/cons and future competition,

DeCEO - Financial Engineering..-  liquidity enhancement, Price Feeds, financial ratio adjustments, smartcoin produciton & diversity, etc,  proposals -- . DEXBot bitUSD:OPEN.USDT Market Making,
bitshares.finance --https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=29339.0

DeCEO -  Finances -  Network budgeting,  worker proposal expenditure audits, Captial Expenditures,  reserve and commitee funds managment,

DeCEO -  Legal and Regulatoy,

More efficient and effective system than depending on the larger community needing to vote on every worker proposal without the benefit of subject matter expertise or background, esoteric knowledge, latest developments, etc., in a variety of areas.   It also would distribute the workload and effort among a wider group of people and foster more comprehensive participation.

Voters could choose to focus their vote on matters appropriate to their knowledge/background/interest and maybe provide their proxy to others  who they feel are better suited to make judgements in other areas  or simply follow their recommendations.

Each DeCEO could have rotating appointees to participate on joint boards/councils to collaborate on coordinated efforts and to ensure that they're not working at duplicate or cross purposes.

Thanks for taking time to write these, I believe "Global Marketing Board" as term should be replaced with "Global Management Board".

Global Management Board will submit workers for (Infrastructure, marketing etc...) that would be specific and in details when it comes to for example "Annual Marketing Plan" which will have a marketing plan and it's down budget.

"Global Management Board" budget must be segregated from "Annual Marketing Plan" budget.

"Global Management Board" must be OpEx.
"Annual Marketing Plan" must be CapEx and budget should consider the BTS value.

What is the domain of the Global Management Board?     How would anyone who is not familiar with BitShares infer what the "function" of the GMB is from the title?
is it a Board of directors?   is it an Executive committee?     Is it something else?

Generally, the goal is to first design the (organizational)l structure to support the (business) strategy

Why does a marketing plan have to be Annual?
Any plan should allow the organization to adapt to changing and unpredictable market conditions.

Marketing Strategy is the process of aligning core capabilities with emerging or existing opportunities...i.e.  just identify the core business goals that need to be achieved...
It creates long-term effectiveness too but in its absence will only lead to continued BitShares marketing inertia..

The goal of structure is to create clarity of authority and responsibility for the core organizational functions that must be performed.
(So money is not wasted on incompetence or fraudulent activities)
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=27328.msg335231#msg335231

There is of course an inherent tension that emerges when planning for short-run and long-run objectives, and between decentralization and centralized control...
So to whatever extent is achievable in a decentralized environment,  it would be beneficial if the structure design can control the clash and redirect that "conflict energy" ..

If a misaligned structure is adopted an entity will simply roll along..

>> with gradually decreasing market (share) momentum,
>> rising internal friction,
>> continued impairment to its ability to scale and
>> inability to unleash its creative potential..

BitShares is pioneering in many ways and it's on a turbulent path right now...but..there is an old quote,

"A bad system will defeat a good person every time."

I think there are many good persons in the BitShares community...so we just need to design a system to meet a standard worthy of them..

Nearly 50,000 fans attend USWNT friendly against Portugal, breaking attendance record

{excerpt}

Nearly 50,000 fans attended the USWNT's friendly against Portugal on Thursday night in Philadelphia, setting a new team record.

Even months after the U.S. women's national team's win at the World Cup in France, the team is still drawing massive crowds.

There were 49,504 fans at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Thursday night for the USWNT's friendly against Portugal, breaking the record for the largest crowd for a standalone friendly in team history.

Thursday's match in Philadelphia was the second of the USWNT's victory tour. More than 37,000 fans attended their match against Ireland at the Rose Bowl in Southern California earlier this month.

....The United States has three games left, one in Minnesota next week, one in Charlotte in October and the final one in Chicago.

Isn't that the STEEM business model....get paid for posting articles instead of giving free content to Facebook?

I have been saying for months & months now....BitShares needs to position itself to benefit from a positive Black Swan..!!

If it is even moderately successful...then REFINE, MODIFY & REPEAT in other regions and countries that will be participating in the 2020 Olympics...A lot of people are looking for jobs and making money in their spare time instead of watching TV..!

Thanks for the encouragement, please share with us your vision: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=29379.0

Thanks for your reply...

As a result of my numerous thread posts and replies over the past months.."my vision", if you want to call it that has been pretty clear..

Focus marketing to average people and SHOW them how BitShares can help them...
Get at least one or two consumer goods retailer / distributor to accept BTS or bitAssets..
Position BTS to benefit from inevitable Black Swan events...

Don't chase the "investor class"... grow the BitShares network... and then the investor class will freely chase BitShares

In my last post I said I was believer in "the Black Swan"  and why...https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=29367.0

In my opinion a key factor for bitshares to stop these dumps and create real price support.

Frequency of purchase:              weekly,  biweekly, monthly

@ 20190831
e.g.        10k  purchase  average of 100 bts  per week : 1 million BTS  / week. (current cost per participant  ~$3.50 /wk)

50k/bi-wkly       5 milliion BTS every couple of weeks..

In other words a small but growing group of BTS advocates in each country/region...who use social media and their own informal networks to raise the BitShares profile can make a world of difference.
And maybe a regional Marketing worker to provide language support/technical resources/information updates, etc., with one deliverable metric  --- # of new ACTIVE accounts opened on average per day/week/month leading up to the "20 Olympics

BitPay Under Fire For Rejecting $100K Bitcoin Amazon Rainforest Donation

A blocked Bitcoin donation to help the fight against the Amazon Rainforest fires has become the latest publicity headache for BitPay.
According to a social media exchange on August 23, the embattled cryptocurrency payment processor is facing fresh criticism after it failed to allow a $100,000 Bitcoin donation to go through.

Steffen Seibert, a spokesman for the German chancellor, told journalists in Berlin on Friday: "The extent of the fires in the Amazon area is shocking and threatening, not only for Brazil and the other affected countries, but also for the whole world.

The Amazon rainforest lies in nine South American countries: Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Guyana, Bolivia, Suriname and French Guiana//
The Amazon rainforest contains approximately 10 percent of all animal species on Earth and 20 percent of the world's birds.
Thousands of insects live within the borders of the Amazon as do larger mammals and reptiles, such as jaguars, anacondas and cougars..

currently the key task is to guarantee the bitCNY supply.

No, that is your claim. Its a reason why some people don't borrow currently.I'm  fully in stablecoin and observing some bigger players who do borrow i also saw they exchanged part of their debt to stablecoins.

I agree that main focus should be now to provide supply of stable coins but we have also to accept that current stable coins can be mainly only used to buy directly BTS.
First goal should be to make stable coins more attractiv to be able to buy other major coins anytime at market prices and giving holders of stable coins the possibility to use it on diffrent exchanges with small spread in prices.

QuoteFrankly ..I don't put too much weight behind TA (technical analysis)...because at then end of the day..it's all a reflection of mass psychology... that's why $billions are spent on advertising every day..

how else does one explain the valuation of Dogecoin(#29) while BTS is (#51).... or CryptoKitties..

I think social, economic, financial and politcal events will impact price more than anything else...

1.Leverage via stablecoins which makes BTS more volatile. It also means that BTS will rise way quicker in an uptrend than dodgecoin .
2.Way better marketing and adoption of dodgecoin. For me it currently seems bitshares oversleept marketing and adoption compared to other coins which it needs now to catch up quickly.

A good refference point is DAI.
How does it come that DAI is already listed everywhere where bitshares or its stablecoins try to get implemented?

Since you don't care about major TA signals what event is bitshares going to produce in next 30 days which in your opinion will impact the price more than major trends ?
I'm asking cause i do also belive that some events are stronger than market trends.

https://kryptografen.com/news/bitcoins-reported-market-dominance-is-approaching-70-but-in-reality-it-is-above-90/

Bitcoin's reported market dominance is approaching 70%, but in reality it is above 90%

What does BitShares need most right now..?

The answer is clear in the excerpt of this article.

(Although I don't agree with every point the author makes because he doesn't seem to consider e.g.>

https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/03/25/bitcoin-blockchain-costs-approx-7-million-a-day-to-stay-secure/
and what if it were to scale to handle consumer payments?)

[EXCERPT..]

Still, history has shown us that network effects often trump specialisation. General platforms with wide adoption might be used for "everything", like the internet. Nowhere are the network effects stronger than for money, where liquidity is everything.

Every day bitcoin stays ahead, it becomes less likely that any other cryptocurrency can compete as a money. That is important to understand not only for investors and those building out payment infrastructure, but also those building out solutions leveraging the security of a public blockchain. The value of bitcoin [as] is what makes its blockchain the most secure and makes users take good care of their private keys.

https://www.bitcointradevolume.com/

Obviously a black swan event can have the network effect needed

Marketing: Can a young Chinese female club soccer player, who is on a popular team, and will be on the Olympic 2020  team
be educated in the basics of BitShares and how to trade and hold, etc.,and if she agrees to advocate for BTS among her friends and team and sign up at least ..20 -25 players including from OTHER local teams ...then along with the referral fees she will earn..also generous BTS shareholders will donate enough BTS to secure her LTM...?

Topic: To illustrate the absurdity of Black Swan Events
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=28518.msg333097#msg333097

Young women and girls "talk a lot"...they generate more "buzz"  than anyone else...if they figure out a way to make a little money ...i.e get paid for what they already do...!

Isn't that the STEEM business model....get paid for posting articles instead of giving free content to Facebook?

I have been saying for months & months now....BitShares needs to position itself to benefit from a positive Black Swan..!!

If it is even moderately successful...then REFINE, MODIFY & REPEAT in other regions and countries that will be participating in the 2020 Olympics...A lot of people are looking for jobs and making money in their spare time instead of watching TV..!

......................Regarding bitBTC
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=29259.msg333903#msg333903

So how to short BTC on the DEX against stablecoins, or other cyrpto assets given difficulties associated with bitBTC?

Solving the dolphin (and minnow) problems...i.e. also generate lots of smaller trades on the DEX and bring in more transaction, contract and referral fees, etc..revenue to PAY WORKERS and alleviate some INVESTOR BTS inflation concerns..(BTC may be trading within a narrow range for a while...i.e sideways.. In the meantime give incentive to newbies to learn how to trade without taking big risks, and non-LTM's to earn income from referrals, spread the word about BitShares..(Poloniex has reduced a lot of there available Margin trading pairs and..especially XMR..Hint: they have a trollbox..)

PREPO # 622

Trader wants to short 0.1 BTC   using either stablecoins or ETH as collateral...

Market Maker (e.g OMO Fund) is counterparty using either stablecoins or BTS as collateral...

INSWAP  HTLC 1    TRADER swaps 1k bitUSD (or USDT or equivalent bitCNY)   for 0.1 BTC

HTLC 1A      MARKET MAKER sends 0.1 BTC for 1k bitUSD  (or USDT or equivalent bitCNY)

Parameters:     Duration: 7 days  (w/Rollovers)      Daily Interest rate: 0.0010755%

Reduced STARTING COLLATERAL REQUIREMENTS

EXSWAP   HTLC  2          TRADER can allocate any amount -- 1k, 0.5k, 0.33k, 0.25k, 0.2k USDT as collateral

HTLC  2A        MARKET MAKER allocates 30k BTS as collateral

Set Margin Call ratio = [1.1]    and assume BTC = $US 10k

Starting SWAP Ratio =   {Collateral + Short Sale proceeds} / Debt (INSWAP asset owed)

TRADER starting position Day 1 depends on how much is allocated for collateral..

   if 1k  then SWAP Ratio = 2.0     {1k + 1k} / 1k = 2

    0.5k   SR = 1.5     0.33k   SR = 1.33      0.25k   SR = 1.25     0.2k   SR = 1.2

So the less collateral allocated the smaller the buffer against volatility...

e.g      Swap Ratio - Margin Call ratio =  1.5 - 1.1 = 0.4 =   40% Buffer Ratio..

Rule:   If BR is less than ~ 5%   this could be considered similar to the function of the TCR (Target Collateral Ratio)
and recommend to or notify trader to increase collateral...

If BR is < 1%  this initiates PMC procedures...

Obviously with crypto the variables are lot more dynamic but it's the same basic calculation and The Market Maker in this example would have 1k bitUSD to engage in further trading activities,

e.g. buy more BTS, or altcoins, or produce other bitAssets, or open other short positions via PREPO..

It doesn't load for me.. Can you upload it somewhere else please? I saw some bits of text, this is some kind of HTLC proposal?

OK..I have emailed it to you..

but also try the link again, the web preview is working

Please host it somewhere and link it in here

The pdf download link where it is currently hosted is working..

CASCADING PREPOS   Pseudo-REPO

Buterin Ethereum blockchain is full..
https://cointelegraph.com/news/vitalik-buterin-talks-scalability-ethereum-blockchain-is-almost-full

Environment:             ETH   High Market Value       High transaction fees    (Blocktivity congestion)

BTS         Undervalued Market     Low transaction fees     (Blocktivity abundance)

Solving the (mini) Whale problems...

Suppose portfolio asset:   Blue (ETH) Whale - 5100 ETH       Grey (BTS) Whaele -  25m BTS

Motivation:              Blue needs to pay for a child's college tution and also wants to buy Gold for that child for the long term because he's currently engaged in divorce proceedings.

Grey needs a binder deposit in seven days or less to secure a purchase contract for a coveted piece of real  estate bid on at auction or lose out to a rival bidder.

Problem:      Blue has a limitation on his ability to liquidate assets until the financial and tax due diligence is completed by his spouse's law firm.

Grey has very little time and does not want to be forced to liquidate his holdings at such an undervalued
price which will certainly undergo slippage and may even cause a price plunge.

Neither Blue nor Grey wants to pay unnecessary high ETH transaction fees and both have high blood pressure.!

Pseudo REPO = PREPO #442

HTLC   #8711
BLUE swaps 500 ETH with GREY for 2.75m BTS    Duration:   30 days  w/Rollovers   Daily Interest Rate: 0.0010958%

HTLC  #8711a          BLUE allocates 1000 ETH as collateral     MCR= 200%

GREY allocates 5.5m BTS as collateral     MCR = 200%

                              {Could convert to [specific or Universal] StandBy HTLC }

   Note:For  Newbies
  Borrowing from oneself -  https://steemit.com/bitshares/@sc-steemit/how-to-borrow-from-yourself-on-the-bitshares-platform

Activities:    BLUE produces $25k bitUSD leveraging BTS 1.316 m as collateral with MCR = 2.0

BLUE produces $20k bitUSD leveraging BTS 1.026 m as collateral with MCR = 2.0

So he exchanges $25k bitUSD for BTC and transfers to the child's Coinbase acct. for the tutition

He converts $20k bitUSD to fiat (via BTC) or P2P (Bitsy) and purchases gold bullion bars from a local dealer.
                                                                                          https://d.tube/#!/v/agorise/kvbh7rumaww

He will use the remaining BTS received to produce bitGold smartcoins to start his Gold hedge.

A CASCADE could be generated if BLUE instead had swapped 1000 ETH for 5.5m BTS
and allocated 2000 ETH for collateral.

and after completing PREPO #442.. initiates a new 30 day PREPO #443.

      Firstly uses ~3.0m BTS to short bitGold smartcoins (~ 23oz/660g)   with MCR > 300%    (~US $35k)

and then swaps the bitGold for BTC. He then uses BTC to exchange for stablecoins, USDT, bitCNY,USD,EUR,KRW, etc.

      and subsequently for any other cyrpto asset desired..{LTC, XRP..etc..}

With large enough volumes the CASCADE could continue to leverage various assets received.

                  =========================================

GREY converts 150 ETH to fiat using his CEX account (Coinbase.etc.) to be able to fund the binder deposit.

GREY uses the remainder 350 ETH to generate a CASCADE HTLC

A CASCADE is generated by starting a new PREPO #444 with GREY swappng 100 ETH for 25K XMR
and allocates 250 ETH for collateral.  MCR= 250%

He splits the XMR into a 50% long postion and exchanges 50% for a basket of stable coins to be able
pounce on any buying opportunities that surface in the 30 day contract or extended Rollover period.

Again, large enough CASCADE volumes can generate a multiplicity of opportunities or deal with more complicated
      motivations.
