MemoryCoin / Re: Idea for a new unique feature - pool spread
« on: January 28, 2014, 07:17:08 am »
I prefer a community / private attempt first.

I'm making Max's Mine to promote smaller pools.  You mine for me at a sponsored pool, I donate back to the pool operator or mining community.

Currently running a "follow us in the leaderboards" for dwarfpool users to donate to dwarfpool development:

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2535.

How that's working? Check spread history.
Only minority cares, rest will follow better payouts.

Lot of coins have this problem, this could be special if built in the protocol.

MemoryCoin / Idea for a new unique feature - pool spread
« on: January 27, 2014, 09:58:31 pm »
Have an idea - this would be crypto first, so another unique feature of the coin.

Could we implement solution to the algorithm which would favour smaller pools?
This would be great in preventing 51% attacks and 1 or 2 big pools.

Not sure how hard that would be, but could we do something like that:

Block reward = lower to - let's say 90%
Remaining 10% would be spread evenly between first 10 pools (so the less people in pool, the more in reward per person, encouraging  equilibrium).

It's just first idea, I'm sure you'll think of better implementation

sure!

what happened last week:

* updates on the client for the linux/mac compability.
* moved  memorycoin.org to a new/better server.
* released two python libraries for the app developers around mmc. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2365.msg28716#msg28716
* bought and fired up a server  (1 year paid from the start) for churn nodes in order to support official stable/node list which fasan created already. (mmcnodes.com)

on the other hand, usual stuff:

* development of mmcvotes.
* mmcfaucet.com is still up and continuously filled by cto salary.
* mmcwiki updates for new

ongoing work:

* exchange site.
* binary builds and full compability for linux/mac.
* testing, feedback and hosting the live cd for yam's miner.
* research on p2pool for a open-source mmc pool software.

please shoot us with your ideas and critics.

That's great progress, thanks!

I'm thinking about a single place/locked thread (maybe thread for each CxO position) where these could be logged/posted, so everyone can easily see all the good work that is going into the coin - thus the proof that voting/hiring works well.
Also would be great for you to keep votes :)

Hi Guys,
Could you please update the status? I think quick weekly updates would be quite good.

3 laptops with yvg1900's yam miner:

i5-3337U Ivy - 3.1 HPM
i5-3340M Ivy - 4.0 HPM
i5-2450M Sandy - 1.9 HPM

6

when u get more than 3x mmc now, y not mining few minutes for dev :D

Don't get me wrong - I will mine for dev even when there's version without it, however I realise some people will not like it, so this could reach wider audience...

7
yvg1900 - great job with the miner!

i5-3337U Ivy - 2.1 --> now 3.1 HPM
i5-3340M Ivy - 2.4 --> now 4.0 HPM
i5-2450M Sandy 0.9 --> now 1.9 HPM

Taking into account power consumption, I would have to get 28HPM on the single 280x to get same performance/watt.

MMC rocks...

I think we should (grant) support the dev, so the version with no mine for dev can be release and market it for wider adoption... big selling point for MMC

~$100 eventually.

No doubt the market for cryptocoin is only going to grow, so the several top coin will keep increasing in market cap along with the demand.
This one has huge potential and opportunity to be there - unique features, no silly name, no scam, no copy, no get rich quick premine for the dev.

MMC has good features unlike many other $hitcoins, if the C*O guys do half decent job, this coin should get to the top and easily reach 10-100$ this year.

Agree on MMC comment. In my opinion MMC has more innovations then both PPC and XPM have combined. I will try to do a better job explaining MMC features and promoting MMC innovations.

Also agree on your constructive criticism. Right now I'm trying to get some news media exposure for the coin also I'd like to have presence in social media, but so far I can't show any great results yet.

Precisely about the innovations which the coin brings.

I wasn't really criticising anyone though - apologies if it sounded that way.
I meant that even a bit of work would propel the coin, and I'm sure all elected  C*O are going to do all they can/need to do to promote, market and further innovate it.

It's definitely Bitcoin/Litecoin calibre, we just need to support it...

Selling this coin for a quick profit is very short sighted.

MMC has good features unlike many other $hitcoins, if the C*O guys do half decent job, this coin should get to the top and easily reach 10-100$ this year.

I'm mining full bore on all my CPU/GPUs and buying as much as I can.
