Random Discussion / Re: DAO - Delegated Autonomous Oracle

Quote
If we hope to stem the mass destruction that inevitably attends our economic system (and to alter the sense of entitlement - the sense of contempt, the hatred - on which it is based), fundamental historical, social, economic, and technological forces need to be pondered, understood, and redirected. Behavior won't change much without a fundamental change in consciousness. The question becomes: How do we change consciousness?

― Derrick Jensen, The Culture of Make Believe

In the spirit of the OP, I threw the coins on the question and they returned Hexagram 50:

Quote
From coming out to life to going back to death:
Those companions (t'u) of life,
They are one-third (shih-yu-san);
Those companions of death,
They are one-third;
Those living but moving toward the place of death,
They are also one-third.
Why?
Because of the intense (hou) life-producing activity.
I have heard that one who knows how to nourish life,
On land meets no tigers or wild buffaloes,
In battle needs to wear no armors or weapons,
A wild buffalo has nowhere to butt its horns,
A tiger has nowhere to sink its claws,
A weapon has nowhere to enter its blade.
Why?
Because such a one has no place of death.

BitShares still don't understand the power of internal economy created through UIA.

Welcome!

Could you expand on this?  I'm presently trying to learn more about the potential of UIAs.

I'm possibly jumping way outside the current vision, but here's what's playing in my head.

I appreciate your vision-jumping and enjoy your posts, even when I (often) don't fully comprehend them.  I wish I could read the TL,DR version of what you envision above!

I'm currently just trying to expand my understanding of the potential of user issued assets...

I purchased some extra PTS from Cryptsy just to try and register my PTS account and transfer my old PTS wallet funds.  Unfortunately Cryptsy has not allowed PTS withdrawls for days now.  Back to the drawing board.  :(

Did you upgrade your old PTS client to v1.0.0.0 before trying the secure asset import? Others have reported difficulty trying to import from old v0.8.5.0.

Did you also try this method of importing private keys from your old wallet?

You can then register your account using the imported PTS.

Glad you're PTS is happily in your wallet.

Onceuponatime sent me (and loads of other people) BTS to register my first account, and I've received tech help whenever needed from people on both BitShares and PTS forums.  It's my pleasure to pass that along where I can.

If you have other questions or would just like to check it out, the PTS forum is http://pts.cubeconnex.com/index.php

Just sent your PTS Back. I sent 150 because it said their was a 25 PTS fee and wasnt sure if you had to pay that or if it took it out of my transfer and you would only get 100 if I only sent you 125. This is my first time using this PTS wallet so not exactly understand all the fees and such. Let me know if you got what I owe you and we are square.
Thank you again I appreciate it so much!

Kind Regards,
Reid

Thanks for considering that.  There is a 25 PTS transaction fee for sending, receiving and voting.  We are square!

No one can guarantee the safety of any wallet.....including the blockchain wallet. The general consensus is that a wallet on your own system would be the safest.  Where is the online wallet?
I found the online wallet here http://pts-bitshares.com/

bitsharesfan, that looks like a scam site... I'd get rid of the wallet. (Unless you're here to promote it, of course)

I've asked about it here.

The Wild West?

(I sure wouldn't download or click on anything there)

(Of course.  But someone else here already did.)

What is this?

http://pts-bitshares.com/

From the site:
"What is BitShares-PTS? BitShares PTS is a Bitcoin clone that allows you to mine and trade your support for the BitShares ecosystem. You become a member of a larger community of individuals who believe in building decentralized technology when you own even a fraction of a PTS.
BitShares PTS comes with a social consensus that at least 10% of the total coins (shares) in all future BitShares blockchains should acknowledge the support given by the holders of PTS. In the case of BitShares X we recommend that supporters be acknowledged with 50% of the total coins (shares).
Invictus will not deploy any BitShares systems as we are a software company that only produces open source software. We only recommend that those who choose to take our software and launch a BitShares blockchain recognize our supporters who made this possible.

Thank you so much! I have allot of funds on BTER just cant get them off; ill pay you back immediately. It says in the instructions (and I read: I could withdrawal funds to an unregistered account using the key) but I get a message: "cancelled:PTS account is not registered or memo is too long" when I enter my Key into BTER and try to get my funds to my wallet.

Do you need my key or just my username: reiddouthat

If you need my key let me know, I would post it but am unsure if its supposed to be kept to myself or if it doesn't matter. Just please let me know. I appreciate all the help that users have given me, steering me in the correct direction to figure this out; and you offering to help me get the funds to register on the blockchain. I thank you all.

Hope your holidays ave been wonderful.

Kind Regards.
Reid
You're most welcome.  I'm only sorry for the delay in sending the funds.

Please post your public account key as that is necessary for sending funds to an unregistered account.  Once you have your account name registered on the blockchain, you can then use that name for withdrawing from Bter and other transactions.

And thank you for warm holiday wishes and for your patience!

cross posting to help them out...

So I just downloaded the new PTS Client. It requires me to register on the Blockchain before I can receive my PTS on my new client.
My new PTS Username is: reiddouthat

Can someone help me figure out how to get funds so I can register on the blockchain and withdrawal my PTS from BTER? I ran into the same problem with my BTS [a long time ago]... and someone from Reddit helped me out, and I sent them their funds back once I could get mine in my wallet. Ill do the same, I promise you.

Or if there is some kind of faucet for getting PTS users registered... Could someone please let me know? Thanks!
Thanks liondani!

reiddouthat, it seems many people are away from the forum this weekend, and I myself will not be back to my computer w/wallet until later tomorrow, but if noone has seen this by then I will be sure to send you the funds to register.
