BitShares AGS / Re: [AGS] Angelshares day 1 statistics.
« on: January 02, 2014, 12:39:54 am »
Thanks for the stat, saved my time calculating.

Do you think we need Angleshares board for Stats and future discussion? Or General discussion is good enough? Any suggestion?

A dedicated board will allow people to filter it and keep things cleaner.

I agree

General Discussion / Re: Announcing Angel Shares & BitShares Allocation
« on: January 01, 2014, 02:14:32 am »
I sent my PTS 30 seconds before midnight GMT, but Coinplorer shows the transaction time at the first confirmation after midnight GMT.  (BTSBlock appears to be down at the moment, so I cannot check if its reporting of the transaction time is different.)

Blockchain.info shows my BTC transaction time when the transaction was sent (0 confirmations).

Which time counts for being included in a particular day's auction, when it is sent or when it is first confirmed?  If it's the latter, that could adversely affect auction sniping.

This is why if you're smart you should send early in the day rather than late.

Timestamp of the block that includes the transaction is how it is measured.  Note that block timestamps have a variance of +/- 2 hrs actual time and can occur out of order.   In other words, if you attempt to send in a payment near the end of the day or at the very beginning of the day you cannot know for certain which day the BTS or PTS blockchain will count it as.

Well, that makes waiting until the end of the day a lot more risky

AJ_ and I have been working on the bounty rules and submission bounty. We'll be looking for a home for this on the invictus website once we're done (assuming our entry wins the bounty). If you want to take a look at what we have so far: https://sites.google.com/site/invictusbounties/home

I copied phoenix work then tried my hand on his almost complete work, great job by the way.

What I originally had wasn't anywhere near as good as what AJ_ has made it, but thank you. I like your division into rules and ethics, as well as changing the spacing so things are more visually pleasing.

Here's what we've come up with so far. It still needs a lot of revision, re-organizing, and it can probably be shortened quite a bit before we're ready to submit it. We'd love to hear what people think of it so far.

About how long should developers expect to have to support their contributions after the bounty has been awarded to them? Also, what kinds of support will they be expected to provide?

We should have our initial thoughts and ideas ready to show by sometime tomorrow. This will in no way be a final entry, unless you're willing to pay the full bounty for what we have already. We'll just be looking for feedback for what we have so far

IMO this sort of project should NOT be using a turing-complete language as the foundation. Bitcoin's scripting language was designed to be not turing-complete for a reason. We want our protocol language to be good for correctness proofs, not malware.
What was the reason? Reasons I can imagine are simplicity and efficient encoding or speed. Are there security considerations?

I imagine a protocol in a high-level language could be compiled to ethereums script language. This would still allow for languages which are more suitable for correctness proofs.

For starters, the rules of a block chain are very hard to change after launch and even bitcoin has not turned on the full power of their scripts.  If bitcoin is not comfortable with their scripts after 5 years of evaluation, this platform will have a much harder time proving its security model in a timely manner.

What kind of powers does bitcoin still have in their scripts that they haven't fully turned on yet?

Keyhotee / Re: Redeeming Keyhotee ID & Angel Shares for Keyhotee Founders
« on: December 30, 2013, 02:34:11 am »
Got the lucky 1th mail. Thanks Stan for keeping everyone updated and completing this long and probably boring task !

Stan has worked very hard sorting through a huge spreadsheet with very repetitive labor to crosscheck everything.  He deserves a big thank you for all of his work!  I certainly appreciate him taking this off of my plate!

I just got my email, and I got my first choice! Thank you Stan! You're awesome! Keep up the good work with developing Keyhotee and getting through all the founders IDs.

AJ_ and I are currently putting our heads together to come up with something. Would a publicly view-able google drive doc be acceptable for development and/or entry?

I would like to provide an idea to enhance the process of make decision of final bounty amount.

1. 3I post a Bounty Requirement with several optional bounty amoumts. e.g 100 PTS, 200 PTS, 400 PTS

2. Forum users join, and voting for that, which they think should be the approximate price for the task. The bounty with most user support would be the final bounty given to someone complete the task.

3. Maybe, even voting for the final effect of the result of task, give 90%, 100%, 110%.

This could be just a small improvement, but can attract the community to join and contribute in some degree.

I believe 3I wants to avoid any voting systems in the bounties to prevent fraud. However, they do want to include bidding for the right to enter for a bounty, which will allow the bounty to be lowered to the true market value.

how can any form of "property" be non transferable...
whats to stop a person from taking the money (pts whatever) and just never starting anything after that... pledge money for the future of WHAT?  and just cause there's a record means nothing...

if fact, shouldn't PTS holders be entitled to 10% OF THOSE ANGELSHARES PER YOUR ORIGINAL AGREEMENT!!!
IS THIS NOT A DAC I CRY?!?!?!?
WHAT WILL YOU TRY NEXT???

do i need to go quote you from your posts? pts entitle you to...

Angel Shares are not distributed, since they are only issued by 3I. They are not autonomous, since 3I controls them. They are not a company, since they offer no services. Therefore, they are not a DAC. If you're worried that 3I will just take the PTS sent to the Angel Shares address and run, then you shouldn't even invest in PTS, since withiout 3I many DACs will likely never be created

Are you saying i should send my PTS share to the address given as an investement into angel shares? I did this to the angelwallet address using BTC I would be interested in sending some of my PTS to the other wallet given however where is the reference or (receipt) of this having occured . How do I have proof that I have sent them other than in my wallet itself.

The blockchain functions as a public receipt system. If you want to see all the donations that have been sent to the PTS address, here's a link: https://coinplorer.com/PTS/Addresses/PaNGELmZgzRQCKeEKM6ifgTqNkC4ceiAWw

Thank you very helpful link will bookmark this. Now again what benefit do I have to now send my newly purchased  PTS to the angel wallet?

The address that you send your PTS from will have angel shares. These can't be traded, but they will still give you shares in future DACs. There will be 5000 AGS issued to the people who donate PTS each day. The first day is everything between now and the end of January 1, 2014 (GMT). You receive a share of these 5000 AGS by donating, your share is equal to the % of total funds for the day that you donated. For example, if you donate 150 out of 900 PTS, you would receive 16.666% of the angel shares created that day, which is 833.33333333 angel shares, out of 5000. Angel Shares will be honored with at least 10% of the total currency in all invictus sponsored DACs, so you can greatly increase your stake by donating. The cost is that angel shares can't be traded, so you have to be in for the long haul

16) Have a commission system for the bounty operator/organizer.  The goal is to motivate rapid question/answer/evaluation cycles and divide up the task of running the bounty in addition to completing the bounty.

what do you mean by a commission system? How do you imagine it working?

Creating and managing bounties requires work on two sides.  Both sides should have incentive to settle the bounty as quickly as possible.

We want to hire bounty managers that are paid by the number of successful bounties they can manage.

So a bounty may be issued by one person, but managed by another. This manager should have an incentive to settle the bounty quickly. They should also be paid for managing multiple bounties. Is this correct?
