Technical Support / Re: Missing BitGold
« on: February 04, 2015, 04:11:43 pm »
you can try a number that is larger than 10500 .. also note that the wallets needs some time to rescan the blockchain for the newly generated keys .. you can check scanning progress with "getinfo" ..

do you see the buying/market transactions in your history too?

The history shows the amounts payed for the shorts and the buy, but no other transactions, so less BTS
and no BitGold as a result.

Technical Support / Missing BitGold
« on: February 04, 2015, 03:11:08 pm »
In an attempt to support the BitGold - initiative I tried the following steps on my WIN7/64  / v0.5.3 wallet:

Short:
Code: [Select]
Transaction #d0bda0eb

Block #1695271, Prev #1 , Transaction #2 , Next #0
TimeStamp: 02/03/2015 7:51 PM

{"type":"short_op_v2_type","data":{"amount":2417555275,"short_index":{"order_price":{"ratio":"0.","quote_asset_id":7,"base_asset_id":0},"owner":"BTSJDgUSxoPgt2MprDVvpz5PpTbTkYqChRjY"},"limit_price":null}}

Buy short:
Code: [Select]
Transaction #6a40a1cc

Block #1695295 , Transaction #0 , Next #0
TimeStamp: 02/03/2015 7:55 PM

{"type":"ask_op_type","data":{"amount":1208898516,"ask_index":{"order_price":{"ratio":"0.00008271993","quote_asset_id":7,"base_asset_id":0},"owner":"BTS7KQz7Lk7HmwktYHWnwmUmQBKRvesA6M3W"}}}
Withdraw 1208908516 satoshi amount of asset

All went well and the balances showed up in the account, so I tried some bigger amount:
Code: [Select]
Transaction #2c6a4914

Block #1695804 , Transaction #0 , Next #0
TimeStamp: 02/03/2015 9:20 PM

{"type":"short_op_v2_type","data":{"amount":9848808160,"short_index":{"order_price":{"ratio":"0.","quote_asset_id":7,"base_asset_id":0},"owner":"BTSDnvBUXv2AEpkchCbs7mwJk5q5GecxyxgY"},"limit_price":null}}
Withdraw 9848818160 satoshi amount of asset

The short showed up. Tried to buy back - whammm wallet_total_ freeze:o :-[

After restart the wallet didn`t even know my PW.. so I had to rebuild the whole thing from scratch. Finally with an old copy of the wallet, chain download and some hours gone I had a fully operational wallet again.  ::)

The transactions (see code) are here, the BitGold is "gone".  Tried:

- rescan
- wallet_regenerate_keys ACCOUNT-NAME 10500
- wallet_recover_transaction TXID

Thank you for some ideas for next steps to regain access to the purchased BitGold

Who was it that said controversy is a good thing?  Was it the guy who no longer works here because most of the community was not satisfied with his work? I believe so...

-Controversy is a good thing if we are unified in our message

-Controversy is POISON if it divides the community

At the time of this message, 68% of voters think Bingo is a bad idea.  Please don't make the wrong decision.  If it will only take 80 hours to implement, instead, try using those hours on tooltips, help messages, a help section in the menu bar.  Even something simple like a link to the bitshares wiki would be useful.  Better yet, link context based help messages to appropriate section in the wiki.  What the hell do all those voting options means?  Well gee, how about a link to voting explained section in the wiki? This ISNT rocket science....

Imagine if BitShares was TurboTax.  Do you think Intuit would take a dump without any help messages and expect to keep their customers?  Surely you can do your taxes from the command line, why wouldn't anyone want to do that? You can Google your way to the answer, if you don't get distracted by a competitor along the way.

I'm a few versions back, so some of these points may be out of date.  But last I checked, the market was still....how do you say 'not sexy.'  Like a fat old toothless hag.  I want a smooth seamless trading experience like Bter. That alone will bring more gamblers to our system than some shitty bingo game.  I like bingo.  But I don't want it on BitShares when basic functions are lacking.  Where are multi-tabbed markets??  I can't trade GOLD, EUR and USD at the same time.  Where is the common panel where I can see all my feeds? Traders need to trade in multiple markets at once - and they need to see when prices move in one common dashboard type panel that's available from everywhere in the app.  Traders need to get in on the action as soon as the price moves.  They can't (and they wont) be bothered clicking back and forth all day.  If it takes 5 clicks to go from one market to another, no one will do it except the religious.  Online poker players don't play on one table at a time, and neither do traders. Multi-tabbed markets will bring move volume than some controversial gimmick. Minimizing the amount of button clicks needed to perform functions is UI design 101.

We are getting sharedropped by PLAY.  Why disrespect their community with this idea? Let them handle gaming.

Its quite amazing all these brilliant ideas that went into BitShares, while the basics keep getting fucked up.  It doesn't matter how far ahead of the curve it is, as long as BitShares can't get the basics right, it will remain a toy for overgrown children, and not a serious investment for mainstream adoption.  If its not easy, no one will use it except the people already using it.

I fully agree        +5%

........
The developers are getting paid, software is being written. In order to expand the market in my opinion you have to show that Bitshares is safe and regulatable either programmatically or externally depending on what users want. Minebitshares can market BitAssets and the serious games can be built into that but I don't see any reason why we need or require dice or gambling.

Technical Support / Re: Vesting balance disappeared

I'd say vikram is right on this on .. the 'balance' in the transaction history is flawed .. i notices that here too ..

Would you please issue 'balance' in the console and check if that one returns the correct balance?!

wallet_account_balances  gives the correct balances. Back in history of this account I found the difference is already in November after a Short operation. So better rely solely on wallet_account_balances, transaction history is confusing.

BTW: I am a believer  :)

Running balance in history display is not reliable and can be wrong, especially if same keys in two different wallets. Balance shown by wallet_account_balance is the correct amount. Which wallet did you collect genesis balances from?

A second look into the history shows, that the "magic" was happening before, after "vote all" 33k more shows up in the GUI balance (also in the account_history).  So voting is recommended.... :)

Therefore the balance-bug seems related to voting rather then collecting ?

(Which wallet did you collect genesis balances from? :  WIN-wallet)

I took a look and all the claimed vested balances are still there. In your PM, you collected vesting 4 times in Win wallet, and 2 times in Linux wallet. I found the transactions and all the balances are still there. Here are the deposit addresses:

Win:
  • BTS9WTdFmoFpR3ydCGx7FSDoTUeWjQAuG7N9
  • BTS2wFE5b3WEEJZNDDot32KcdjehUPZyxnc4
  • BTSAATeyQb7LrdSfyzmQnoARmkF4PGXBNvLc
  • BTS1hwoTH4aiKsX9PArmyeLsoQ8C9xoLNQk

Linux:
  • BTSHDGE8LDh2ScNigHg4qhrP1N87PPaFQ5HJ
  • BTSBNrWHiqaY9H4tJn2ec7BHPTRTz1MLCp4U

If you do "wallet_dump_private_key <address>" for each of the above, and you have the private key for all of them, then you control the claimed vested balances. And they should be part of your account balance, because the wallet checks every address in the blockchain for your balances.

Since you have the same genesis PTS keys imported into both wallets, are you sure that you did not make a transfer out of your Linux wallet that would have withdrawn from a genesis address? This would also lower your balance in Win wallet. Balances stay in your genesis balance unless you manually transfer them all to an account, or use wallet_collect_genesis_balances command.

All priv-keys checked => o.k.

The account numbers in WIN-wallet are still missing part of the balance.

The last entry was:  wallet_collect_genesis_balances

wallet_account_history shows the right balance. (PM)

Is there a way that the GUI shows the same as the history ?

Thank you.

I found the balances that have gone to UNKNOWN on the linux wallet.

Where did the second wallet come from? List the steps you took across both wallets in order.

1. win-wallet: wallet_collect_vested_balances <account_name x>
Result:  o.k., stake added to account x => details PM

2. linux-wallet: wallet_collect_vested_balances <account_name y>
Result: Some of the stake added to accounts, some getting "lost"  =>  details PM

3. win-wallet: account x  shows like the primary post,
The vesting claim in the linux-accounts changed the win-account.

There seems to be no "lock" after a successful claim somehow.

Thank you for looking into this, but enjoy the Sunday anyway.
I suspect that you have (some) same private keys in both wallets.
Could you describe how you created the two wallets/accounts, and, have you export/import keys from one wallet to the other?

Yes, as I stated in my post:
Quote
Other accounts, but imported pts addresses from genesis are the same.

Thank you for support.
Same account in both windows and linux wallet?
You may need to try the command 'wallet_repair_records'

Different accounts in the wallets.

http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/RecoveringFunds

No results with: wallet_repair_records / rescan / wallet_recover_transaction TXID

still ~ 33k lost somewhere in the woodwork

Edit: On the main account page the balance of this account is 781K, as you can see in the transaction history posted the balance has disappeared resp. turned to negative.

Technical Support / Vesting balance "disappeared"
« on: January 24, 2015, 08:14:21 am »
Upgraded my WIN wallet to 0.5.3  and tried the vesting successfully. The balance was added up to the account (From 769K to 814K)
Suddenly some outputs to UNKNOWN are showing up.
I found the balances that have gone to UNKNOWN on the linux wallet.  3 other accounts where I was "collecting vested" at the times indicated, the amounts are matching and the balances are added up accordingly. Other accounts, but imported pts addresses from genesis are the same.

Now some of the "vesting" amount disappeared from the balance in the WIN wallet (actual 781 K).

A "rescan" was made, no change.

Thank you for some advice how to proceed.
