I don't like the background image of the Merchants page, kind of gloomy. Looks like Hong Kong before a Kaiju attack :D

Who is the website targeted at?

What are we hoping the target market is going to do after visiting the website?

  • Next time leave a live site up until the new one is ready, so we do not have multi-day downtime
  • Add description meta tag for each page, there is no description tag at all for SEO as of now
  • Monetize your Float, As good as Cash on Merchants page, capitalize Your and Good to be consistent with the other ones
  • Under More menu, Resources and Community are links that do not go anywhere (#), make those words non-links
  • Why is the "Team" menu link URL /who, should it not be /team?
  • Stay Tuned page had links to past newsletters might be nice, or at least the most recent one
  • The continue in "Continue reading >" text links on /press are sometimes capitalized and sometimes not
  • Consider spelling out all contractions (it's, there's, what's etc.) it is easier for those who do not speak English as a first language to read and not be confused on what is possessive and what is a contraction
  • http://bitshares.org/hello-world/ remove this page
  • http://bitshares.org/bitshares-guide/ --> remove the pingback comment, it is to a not to friendly article

MktDirector,

Please take some of the points the people are making into consideration, a final version, does not always have to be a final version.

Its good on my computer but check out this site.  www.getmadein.com

Something like this could have been done or can be done I think its more effective, https://www.getmadein.com/japan/tokyo-banana-tree

Further addition

Also harness the power of newsletters, really check out the getmadein site and scroll around, Japanese products do rock as well.  (It is not my website)

I see you guys are not believers in the Oxford Comma. :)

Actually the use of the Oxford comma seems to be inconsistent (which is worse than either using it or not using it).

See the second page:
Quote
Save and trade in gold, silver, dollars, or other currencies.

But then see the third and sixth pages:
Quote
Eliminate the middle men, overhead and bloated profits of traditional banks.
Quote
Simply put, your account can’t be raided, compromised or seized.

I have additional feedback:

The Facebook logo in the footer links to "http://www.facbook.com/officialbitshares" rather than "http://www.facebook.com/officialbitshares". Interestingly, it appears Facebook owns facbook.com and does the redirection.

The contrast of the text needs to improve for better readability. In some cases in needs to be brighter to contrast against the dark backgrounds it is on, and in other cases it needs to be darker to contrast against the bright backgrounds it is on. I also think some of the text would benefit from being thicker, and that is especially true for the navigation text (which I think would also need some kind of shadows to further improve their readability against the image backgrounds on the home page).

In the very first tab/page of the homepage, both the navigation text and the BitShares logo are hard to read because of the bright lights of the animated image behind it. I think it would benefit from some kind of dim translucent background strip which is fixed to the first tab/page and rolls up and out of sight as the user scrolls down. Or maybe there is a better solution. Whatever the solution, the navigation text and BitShares logo just need to be easily readable on the first tab/page of the homepage, and currently they are not.

I also second the change from "MAC" to "Mac OS X".

And someone please correct me if I am wrong, but in the http://bitshares.org/merchants/ page, I think it would be appropriate to capitalize two of the titles as follows: "As Good As Cash" and "Monetize Your Float". At least that is according to the rules here.

The first page says "Why bank when you can *BitShare*?" Looks strange. Why bitshare not bitshares?

Great work. Very cool site! Nitpick: In INSTANT section, "it's time you looked at BitShares Banking."

Isn't this the kind of "bank" language we were trying to avoid with the slogan? How about "It's time to bank on BitShares." That triggers a different definition of the word "bank" which does not identify it as a highly regulated institution.

Overall, excellent site.

The bank language caught my attention as well. Agreed on the rewording.

Site looks great, I will comb through it in more detail tomorrow.

Using my laptop, on the first page(?) of the site, I cannot see the top-left hand side  menu/links; .
Well I kind  of can, but I have to wait for the dark haired guys to pass through...

Not complaining, just saying to keep it in mind.

I cant read this page on my ipad the font is too light.. Should be a high comtast color for large bodies of text

http://bitshares.org/regulation-proof-self-funding-dacs/

 +5%

I can read it easily on one monitor, OK on another, and hard on my laptop. I recall we had the same issue with the client. I think you all have too expensive monitors :).

Should also not refer to btsx anymore i got confused when talking about delegate pay rate of btsx vs variable rate of bts.. Just talk about bts only and variable pay rate

You should also link yhings like when mentioning bitshares music

Great stuff.

Small nitpick- MAC is not an acronym. Please change this to 'Mac', or better yet 'Mac OSX' or simply 'OSX' on the download page.

Agreed. Mac is a model of a PC. OSX is the OS. Especially now that people run OSX on home builts and Linux/Windows on their Macs.
