Mobile Responsive is def important for SEO.  The smaller the site file is the better.  Speed of loading site is equally important.

SEO is a non-issue. Mobile optimization and speed is important if you're targeting long-tail keywords. When people search for "bitshares", bitshares.org will always be the first result in Google.

I would hope that the sum total of the SEO strategy for bitshares.org isn't to rank first for 'bitshares'. Ranking first page for 'bitcoin' would be a far loftier goal that surely would pay dividends.

Average monthly search volume for "bitshares" = 1,300
Average monthly search volume for "bitcoin" =  823,000
Average monthly search volume for "bank" =  301,000

Why not emulate the language of https://bitreserve.org/ ?

It's the closest thing to BitShares that currently exists.

Great find! Earlier today Dan described his proposed changes almost exactly like that

After Shapeshift.io integrates BTS and BitUSD (as well as other BitAssets), the functionality that Bitreserve offers could be replicated exactly.

Bitcoin deposit addresses for representative currencies can be launched as a web service for buying BitAssets for your BitShares wallet.

Do not use this post as information for making any important decisions. The only agreements I ever make are informal and non-binding. Take the same precautions as when dealing with a compromised account, scammer, sockpuppet, etc.

Our transaction fee is pennies and our speed is 10 seconds.
Really there is nothing out there that beats our stats.

I think a video on the homepage would go a long way.
I've been working on a new electronic cash system that's fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party. - Satoshi

If we're talking about websites to emulate, check out dwolla:

https://www.dwolla.com/

Love that the call to action button is right there at the very beginning, along with a super condensed pitch.

I love that there main selling point is $0.25 per transaction and that BTS undercuts that by a lot :)

A taste of dwolla and Ripple's design aproach into our site would add the polish... big time.

Good work.

I feel, that the developer/implementor (Cass) should not be in the front-line answering questions as to content/direction and defending choices made in the brief.

Agree with other comments, that the site seems to be pitched at a user that doesn't yet exist and probably won't for some-time.

To draw a comparison - Bitcoin didn't become dominant by being pitched at your grandmother.

Instead it expanded it's user base outwards from crypto-roots to early-adopters to tech-savy younger people, while benefiting from a growing network effects on forums/reddit/twitter.

At the moment I feel it's all very opaque.

The Ripple website does a good job of what we're trying to achieve.

https://ripple.com/

+5%, ripple hits the sweet spot between vague feel-good language and an actual description of the value prop.
