General Discussion / Re: my latest article: I compare BitUSD and CoinoUSD

Thanks arhag - that answers my question. Cashing out into something with counterparty risk is a no-no.

svk I have a feature request too.

Could you show a graph in the asset page of the total circulation/supply of that asset? It would be very interesting to see the growth in BitUSD supply as we approach the next bubble.

Can someone confirm whether in NXT it is possible to "cash-out" into CoinoUSD like you can into BitUSD with Bitshares?

This is theoretically another good reason for not dumping BTSX - Im wondering if NXT has that as well.

Before we get BitGold going, perhaps we should give BitBTC some love? That market is really thin.
Maybe there is a reason people don't use bitBTC? Why put money there if you can have a superior bitUSD?

I think bitBTC is a nice-to-have .. but not worth too much love

For some purposes BitBTC is more appropriate than BitUSD. For example if I just want to day-trade BTSX and dont want to worry about Bitcoin volatility. I keep looking at the BitUSD chart every day, and to make sense of it you have to work out what the current USD price of Bitcon is.

If you do decide to airdrop to a list of all addresses in Bitcoin for example, would you have to pay a huge transaction fee for copying every address into your transaction outputs?

How about give them out to current Bitcoin/Dogecoin holders? This would give them a "Free" way to get into BitsharesX and have some assets in it. Then maybe in the future they could start trading FREE against the shares.

If you think that's a good idea, I would love to have some ;)

BTSX was initially given out to everyone who donated before February towards the development of the software. From now on you can just buy them from someone else.

I bought some more BTSX on Bter.com - trade in all your inflationary Bitcoin there.

Here is the mining pool, not sure when they will actually be ready:

Hello I am new and I want to min bitshare x. Is that possible? How to mine it?

I think someone is setting up a "virtual" miner site that lets you mine Scrypt coins that get automatically sold for BTSX. But you cant directly "mine" Bitshares. It was issued in one go by an IPO, and its supply decreases. This means it is deflationary, not inflationary - which is good.

Edit: welcome to Bitshares :) Enjoy the ride!

"Venezuela's annual inflation rises to 63.4%"

BTSX would be a god-send for them. We could use that as part of a marketing campaign for BTSX, as well as this:

I agree completely..... this isn't about crushing Bitcoin, it is about taking idea of Bitcoin to the next level and giving everyone who was late to the game an opportunity to get rich, and those who got rich from Bitcoin to get even richer.

And there was me thinking your motivation for creating Bitshares was to make the State irrelevant...

Edit: I suppose all good deeds need to be rewarded ;D

Methodx I like your poster 8).

How about a section about how BTSX holders receive dividends instead of 10%/year inflation.

I agree with yidaidaxia that having BitUSD created on multiple Bitshares chains would cause confusion and doubt.

Also, what if a blowout occured on the Music chain leaving uncolleteralized Music:BitUSD? This seems to be more likely to happen there because of lower volumes and because on BTSX Bytemaster has been using his large stake responsibly to maintain & suspend BitUSD where needed. If it did happen then it would make the whole peg concept appear broken and cast doubt on BTSX:BitUSD.
