General Discussion / Re: Reworking the wallet trading interface

That dark theme looks great!

Suggestion: In the menu bar at the top how about a "Deposit" tab that shows a page where people can deposit BTC into BitBTC via Metaexchange for example. Is that in the works?

New to BitShares here. Not even sure how it all works nor do I even have the client downloaded but I have gone all in and hope for the best :) Used my few and only Bitcoins to buy bitshares on an exchange after looking at all of the things that it can do. I reasoned to myself that the price is at an all time low and given everything that may come about its sure to rise at least some from this all time low.

Hope I made the right decision  8) The community seems pretty active so hopefully my hunch pays off.

So hello all!

You bought into something without understanding how it works? :o

I'll repeat the question that wasn't asked last week, when will we see a project roadmap and why don't we have one for all to see?

Yes we really need a high-level roadmap, and can it include a ballback timeline for the bond market?

James has become a migrant developer while moving to north Florida this week.  He’s been working on adding market orders to his web-hosted wallet with the ability to buy and sell.  A pre-release version will be available for testing this week.  Valentine has been adding GUI updates and is continuing to hunt down bugs for his wallet.

Really looking forward to seeing the GUI updates and trading from the web-hosted wallet :)

Not sure about those fat buttons though.

Ah thanks Ill bookmark that instead of the soundcloud page.

Is there a recording yet?

Is anyone else worried that before BitShares becomes profitable, Ethereum might just copy BitAssets completely? Of course they would need the surrounding infrastructure to make it usable such as a tradeable web wallet, but they do have a much larger developer base.

Is the $20 fee to be part of the scheme really needed? If a user signs up a new account referring to his own old account to get half his fees back, then so what? He his still paying the network something.

Do you have any examples of successful businesses that have started MLM and weened off of it without the stigma of Amway, Mary Kay, Avon, etc.?

Not quite MLM, but the accounting company that I use gave me an Amazon voucher for referring a new customer. I thought it was great. This is their great landing page that explains why I would want to benefit from a referral scheme: http://www.crunch.co.uk/client-referral-scheme/

I dont see why this idea is so controversial.

BTS is already supposed to be a system where you buy in as an early investor by purchasing BTS, and then you get a dividend from market trading fees, in the form of having BTS be burned.

But under the new proposed system, instead of encouraging people to buy $20 of BTS and supporting the share price, they are instead asked to put that $20 into a pyramid scheme operating within BTS.  Hilarious!  Its a way to dilute the potential revenues of BTS holders, thus making BTS worth less, in order to reward early participants in the new scheme.

This proposal says instead of taking all of the transaction fees as profit for the shareholders, give some of it back as a reward to those who refer new customers. What's so pyramid schemey about that?

It really is amazing how many cool things you can do with an efficient consensus algorithm like DPOS:

-Paying delegates to develop infrastructure
-Paying yield/interest to BitAsset holders
-Charging transaction fees as an implicit dividend to shareholders (in the future)
-And now we have referral marketing +5%

Contrast this with PoW (Proof of Waste), which allows the blockchain to:
-Create new money to pay for burning electricity

General Discussion / Re: I don't want to buy Bitshares

You can.  Its not easy to find though.  You have to search for " bitUSD:bitBTC  "  in the market search under featured markets.
searching for bitBTC:bitUSD will not give any results.

Why isn't it featured? Why aren't we all using it now?

svk/valentine I know that there is a huge redesign in the newlayout_market branch that will add these to the featured page, but can we just have a quick fix for this in the meantime? Everyone wants to get this market going!

This could have gone into 0.8 or 0.8.1

In 140 characters or less, how can we advertise that? A photo would be nice too, but that would shorten the char count I think.
Either way, let me know so that we can assist!
Thanx in advance :)

We need market making to be done on the internal BitBTC:BitUSD exchange first. Im willing to do it with a bot that I wrote but theres probably no point until it the market gets advertised on the exchange page. Fortunately svk has put in a fix for that and its coming soon.
