General Discussion / Re: Bye Bye Bitshares.

I have no right to say something negative?MY negative posts were totally wrong? I dont know.

This is actually a very welcoming place for constructive criticism.

4. Do you believe that FMV will deliver the value you originally believed it would when retaining the project and team for Bitshares?

I would like to ask this too, and was the 30M BTS really worth it?

There is widespread anger against it due to the 30M bts.  I look at this anger as mostly people looking for someone to blame when their investment went down.

Im not blaming anyone else, im about to buy more BTS as soon as my BTC order gets filled. Thats because I understand the value proposition that BitAssets drives demand for BTS. I dont understand how voting services drives demand. Although I trust BM, for him to say "its critical" requires a leap of faith.

This has been suggested many times in many variations and Dan is very much against it. His perspective is that it's Adam's property and so it should be only his decision what to do with it. IMO the problem is that it was part of a decision he didn't want shareholders voting on (merger and allocations etc).

What's done is done, maybe it was unjust but it will come back to bite BTS when people don't want to use the BTS main chain for stuff.

What exactly did he do to get such a huge shit load of BTS as his personal property?

At our peak market cap that much BTS would make him a millionaire, at which point he has no further incentive to do anything for BTS, which might already be the case given how little he posts here.

I don't understand what is the harm of getting price feeds for stocks from centralized sources like yahoo finance. If yahoo finance is shut down, we choose another one.. What is the risk? or we just don't like at all anything that has to do with centralization? Why not create a decentralized platform by using centralized services whenever is better? Let's use them from once instead of them using us all the time.. What makes you think that the delegates will give more accurate price feeds than the centralized platforms? Let's not be completely blind about this and let's evolve when we can..

Alex Jones is very entertaining:

Lol but seriously, if we actually have some well known exchanges issue their assets on our blockchain (June?) then it wont matter if we havent put much effort into SEO.

Yeah media coverage can help but its not going to be critical to BitShares' success when we have a finished product.

Your web browser downloads arbitrary data with every page you visit.  If you visit certain websites they will download mind viruses that convince you that mining is good.

Users holding BitUSD is also a form of revenue, as it takes BTS out of circulation. It supports BitShares instead of supporting Janet Yellen like BitStamp USD does.

Keyhotee is no longer in development

Yes thats what I was saying. The mail branch of BitShares now has mail features in it (I think).

326
Great question.

My guess is that the "mail" branch of BitShares is where what would have gone into Keyhotee is now going into BitShares. Anyone know if thats true?

Andreas makes such absolute statements that issuing gateway IOUs on a blockchain is a path to censorship & control. He fails to acknowledge that Bitcoin is already censorable when you hold it on an exchange, which is 100% equivalent to holding a gateway IOU.

He says its good that meta protocols like Counterparty are never going to allow whitelisting, well then they lose out on revenue streams from exchanges/gateways who want to open up their orderbook, which is good for BitShares.

Exchanges need to be in control of their own assets. If you want counterparty free currency then BitAssets (and even XRP) keep you in control. Just not Bitstamp USD - the clue is in the name, Andreas.

General Discussion / Re: [Seeking Advice] GUI class for python
« on: May 09, 2015, 09:24:34 pm »
PyQt4 is a great choice for cross platform dev. (I chose version 4 over 5 for now).

One thing I loved about it was that I could rapidly design a GUI using QtCreator/QtDesigner, which generated an XML file mainwindow.ui for example. Then use a handy tool to generate a python module from that XML:
Code: [Select]
pyuic4 mainwindow.ui -o mainwindow.pyWhich is then easily imported with:
Code: [Select]
from mainwindow import Ui_MainWindow
And here is how you run it:
Code: [Select]
app = QApplication(sys.argv)
window = QMainWindow()
ui = Ui_MainWindow()
ui.setupUi(window)
window.show()
sys.exit(app.exec_())

One thing about PyQt is that your app will look bog standard because it uses the platform's native widgets. But thats probably fine, and its a great way to get something up & running fast.

Great screenshot of the designer here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qt_Creator
QtCreator really is awesome, and its even got CMake integration which is great for building BitShares core as well.

Im not an expert, but let me know if you have any questions!

This speculation is ridiculous. No one gets arrested for simply writing software. No one could possibly prove in court that Dan or Andresen or even Satoshi are a financial intermediary.
