Random Discussion / Re: Adsense Strugles
« on: October 01, 2015, 05:12:54 am »
Understand that Adsense Ads are personalized based on a lot of factors.
Currently on my screen:

-Adsense Publisher
-Adsense formats
-Adsense ADS
-Sample Proposal
Are you reading a forum post about Adsense at the moment? Yes. The content of the page you are looking at is one of the determining factors for which ads are displayed.

Adsense is clueless on here. Mine currently has:

-Dow Stock Market
-Stock Shares
-Stock Price
-How to Buy Stock
Does this site discuss trading and markets? Yes. Ads delivered therefore match the content.
Do you ever visit sites that discuss stocks, the stock markets, finance? Your browsing history is another determining factor in which ads are displayed.

General Discussion / Re: A Worker Proposal Banner on CMC?
« on: September 30, 2015, 03:29:46 pm »
BTS was never put on CMC as a banner, Method-X considered it I believe as part of his proposal, but the cost was prohibitive since I think it was in the couple thousand dollar range. I think maybe Music (or was it Play) did do a banner during their crowd funding period.

I would have posted it to the BitShares Blog, but I have reservations in regards to the logo and other links on the site. The logo and links are to a gambling site which means I may be in violation of the major ad network I often use and may end up getting my entire site permanently blocked in many places that do not want their internet being used for gambling/related content.

Publish a short article, whereever you can, making some observation about technical trends or the latest controversies and put the link to the web site in there.  Then link to that article as a case-in-point of the problem/solution/technology in your more mainstream posts.  Requires the reader to make an extra click, so make sure the intermediate article is short and punchy and all about clicking on the link to the web site.

Use funneling techniques to arrive there indirectly.

The OP left out the job of a Witness also includes publishing price feeds and the costs associated with doing so?

If 17 takes us a big step closer to profitability, I am all for it.

"Described at MIT as 'the least random number', according to hackers' lore. This is supposedly because in a study where respondents were asked to choose a random number from 1 to 20, 17 was the most common choice."

General Discussion / Re: Could the refscoreboard contain fake entries?
« on: September 21, 2015, 01:20:58 pm »
The thing you should take away form the referral scoreboard is that it probably represents about 20% (guesstimate) of actual referrals. That is because I suspect that 4 out of 5 new people probably created a BitShares account from the web wallet instead of the hassle of downloading the wallet and having to deal with all of its issues. The scoreboard only gives credit when someone downloads the client, and not the web wallet. This is what has me somewhat excited about the upcoming referral system, since it will be web based, that is of course if bytemaster follows through like he said he would with making sure a referral to bitshares.org who then has to go to another site to register and access the wallet is still credited with the original referral instead of bitshares.org being credited with the referral.

I was not a delegate and did not get paid, so faking my referrals to this point would have been pointless to me. I say this because it shows the power of blogging to get referrals. 38 you would probably see much better success if you had a blog about your life, include links in your high quality content that you post regularly, and just let Google bring you traffic. I know I saw your blog awhile ago, if I remember it was a free site setup with just a few posts, you would probably get much love from Google and other search engines if you owned your own domain name and setup hosting your site on a shared hosting provider, which these days can be found for really cheap.

It doesn't look that bad, and what site doesn't have adds?  Gotta pay the bills somehow.

sure but why not giving partners etc here chance to get adverted ... before using external ads.. ?
It didn't look bad .. but the postition directly under nav ..will cause many accidently clicks .. and for people who are using this forum more frequently, this could be irritating… anyway i'm not saying Bitsapphire shouldn't get paid for forum administration ...and Taulant guess you know this :)

Accepting payment from partners for ads is a great way to help solidify the relationship especially I'd adsense is ditched to accept it.  I am seriously doubting partners wouldn't pay enough to make adsense not worth it.

How much are these ads bringing anyway?
between 0.50 - 10 $ (and 10 is very optimistic lol) per thousand impressions.
i think the avarage is 2$

it also depends on where and how you place these ads

How many impressions does this site get on a daily basis? I'd imagine a few thousand a day?
Clicks pay > impressions. Each click they get might be between .05 and $1+

If at first you don't succeed, try try again...

"This kind of divide is evident in my day to day interactions. I can have a meaningful conversation with those who really do know what is happening and how crypto-blockchain computing is going to change the landscape almost overnight. For those that haven’t had this realization, it is a long road to deprogramming their old ways of thinking. They are still in the Matrix."

I must admit, i really dislike the advertising strip direct under forum navigation.

And i'm thinking this should be discussed again ...

There is way too much confusion and misinformation out there.

1. Cryptonomex does not and never will host any wallets for regulatory risk reasons (See Ripple Labs).  That has been stated from day one.
2.  Partners such as CCEDK, Banx, and Bunker will host wallets and register users.  They will share with us 50% of any income they get.
3.  Partners can choose what percent they want to share with affiliates.  Affiliates do not host wallets, they provide links such as  "openledger.com?r=bitmarket".
4. When openledger (OL) registers an account they define the split between OL and the Affiliate.   Half of OL's share is given to CNX.  If OL does not take a any cut, then CNX does not get a cut.
5. Different affiliates can have different deals based upon volume.   Someone who makes one referral may get a 50% cut.  Someone who makes 1000 referrals may get a 75% cut.   The cut is entirely in the control of OL, BANX, etc.

ok, and who will provide the wallets on october 13th? this is the part i don't understand.

do i understand it correct as i upgrade my existing wallet name "shentist" the fees are burned???

Referral income from the upgrade is allocated to the committee-account which is controlled by elected members and all transactions have a two week hold for stakeholders to review and/or vote out the committee members that approve it.   In other words, the funds are available to grow BTS.   This was the easiest approach that didn't involve special-casing nor burning.
What is the role of bitshares.org? So no wallet will be accessible on bitshares.org - just links to partner sites where the wallet can be found? Will bitshares.org 'owner'  - whoever that is - receive the referral fee to these wallets based on the deal they cut with the wallet providers, and then CMX get half of the wallet providers revenue (so if I was referring a user to bitshares.org it would actually not benefit me whatsoever)?
