General Discussion / Re: BitShares TL;DR. Explain in one line

BitShares are like bitcoin but ethical and the economic incentives for perpetually sustainable incorruptible financial security and privacy are aligned correctly

How would you edit this sentence to improve it's succinct accuracy?

I don't know the context of where your sentence is needed, but I got a little carried away and wrote this in response... it probably needs some work and I'm not sure if it's relevant to what you're trying to write anyway.. but it's always fun to try and boil this down. :P

BitShares (BTS) is the core asset of a decentralized exchange.  This exchange allows participants around the globe to transact value with anyone online using their choice of various fully collateralized smart-coins, issued by the exchange.  The exchange itself utilizes an adaptive model of self governance, which serves to align economic incentives among participants for the continued development of a sustainable, fraud-proof, and voluntary economic system.

EDIT: I realized this doesn't qualify under the 'explain in one line' category, but.. I'll keep trying.

This is an excellent effort.....I was going around in circles trying to say the same thing but the words kept escaping me  :D

when you go to bitshares.org it's not explaining simply enough what bitshares is. It currently says:

BitShares 2.0 is an industrial-grade financial smart contract platform.
Built using the latest in industry research, BitShares 2.0 delivers
a decentralized financial platform with speeds approaching** NASDAQ.

its to long winded and trying to sound clever.  simple is best. we should say what we are.

"Bitshares: The Decentralised Exchange"

Very good point

Akado, do we know any journalists who could use your excellent record of issues to write an article?

I have only one event recorded after 2.0 launched. Also missing links on Kraken's latest DDOS attacks. I would like to know more cases so we could safely say "bitshares could have prevented all of this". And also once we're a bit more stable? Would be the ideal, otherwise people will just shoot we can't handle volume.

Ken has some connections with cryptocoinews or cointelegraph. I dont know which one. Also one of those were into some shady stuff so we want to get the other one. Other than that, maybe Bitcoinist could use it. I dont know any guys there. Murderistic knows people in the crypto magazine bizz. Or maybe even a forbes article as ronny has a guy there too? But I would prefer to have a more solid case first, which means, more attacks on exchanges and possibly a better UI and volume on 2.0

If you know of any events post 2.0 release pls share them  :)

All very good points! Wait until it's a slam dunk then blitzkrieg!!  ;D

I have a small stake in Synereo and I follow their progress.  I very much like the sound of what they are trying to accomplish.  Anyway, they are looking for exchanges to be able to develop a market for their native token, the AMP.  What are the chances of launching AMP trading onto the Bitshares DEX or one of the other exchanges, Openledger, Bunkerchain Labs or CCEDK?

http://www.synereo.com/

Can we target other interesting projects that are struggling to get their token onto an exchange?  Obviously some due diligence is required to assess the overhead in maintenance.  Will reaching out to these other projects for that purpose afford some additional prospects for transitioning whole alts into UIA's?
I've been trying to do exactly this but not with much success. Omni is already used by some people and perhaps for certain projects Omni is a better choice.

But if they aren't Omni exclusive then we should get them on Bitshares also.

I could be wrong, but I think omniwallet does not have exchange functionality currently.....though it is a product that's under development.

Is there a clearly defined process for connecting projects with the relevant BitShares devs who can assess and support integration? I realise I could PM Ronny or Dan etc but I know they are very busy. If we are going to grow the use of the DEX or other affiliated exchanges like openledger then we need to unlock community efforts to contact and support those leading other projects and communities. If potential for integration into the DEX exists, we need an efficient means for putting the right people in contact......this probably happens in the background already but needs to be visible and well understood.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I've heard back from Dor Konforty - CEO and architect for Synereo. He's been following BitShares from day one and would love for Synereo's AMPs to be listed on the DEX.

He'd like to know what the next steps would be.....who would be the best contact initially? Any help to take this forward would be very much appreciated.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Worker Proposal Review

This all sounds good.  I like the KYC integration.  What is the timeframe for this?

The doc says 2 months.  This is superb.....very thorough and I like the arrangement with Bunker.

The doc says the pay will come from the network over 2 months. However, they may not be able to deliver within that time frame. Take into account Christmas season coming up etc. However, we are not going to pay them on anything until QC and delivery is done in full on each worker. So they are motivated to turn it out as quick as they can.
Ahh ok, sorry for the misunderstanding, you are quite right.  Besides, i'm all for increased time if it means increased quality.

Very interesting. So democracy can only exist within the embrace of anarchy and is currently only feasible at a very small scale within a tightly knit community.

My thoughts.....

Power comes from access to and control over the flow of information.

Anarchy is the replacement of the state with a free market where price discovery is the result of interactions between fundamental supply and demand dynamics. Price discovery is a true reflection of the availability and consumption of resources which enables a far more appropriate and beneficial basis for the allocation of capital, greater innovation and superior efficiency.  What's more, anarchy is absent the more degenerative influences of the state and is does not require force or coersion for its existence.

Democracy is a con as it can only work if there is accountability. It requires the uncorrupted execution of the majority of the voter's will  and could only work if they are well informed and rational.  The state and its sponsors continually work to subvert every system.....especially all markets, in order to conceal the effects of their subversion and maintain their information monopoly as they pursue their own interests rather than and at the expense of the voters. Democracy cannot exist without the free flowing of information.
