Technical Support / lost funds?
« on: June 12, 2015, 03:46:46 am »
hey guys,

I have been trying to debug my wallet for 5 day straight.

It all started with my wallet not opening after putting in the password...even after a re-install.

So I went forward and deleted bitshares, started from the beginning and then imported my wallet.

Now, my wallet only has a fraction of the previous balance before the bug and my bitusd's doesnt show up.

So I went forward and did the command:
wallet_regenerate_keys cryptoctopus 12000

Still no luck.

Any ideas?

16 month and not a stable wallet, the core dev team needs to be fired, the market is doing just that, let the free market work its magic.

Rome wasn't built in 16 months.

Can't wait to be able to vote on those projects because at the end of the day...money talks. (Now is the time to buy if you want to have voting power in the future)

General Discussion / Re: bitAsset FIAT Gateway
« on: April 30, 2015, 07:31:27 am »
Can you imagine if we had some sort of affiliate system where gatewasy would have had a bigger financial incentive to integrate and take on the trouble of figuring it out?

I still think that we should keep the conversation on the affiliate reward going because that would make the conversion MUCH more profitable for them and an easier sell for us.

This is all disturbing.. but also not surprising.

As others have noted.. devs tend to lack in interpersonal skills.. especially in dealing with business contacts.

I think people also forget cultural considerations in dealing with an international community. Many not being well traveled don't know how to handle it.

I would urge anybody looking to put some kind of business development in contact with BitShares to put them in contact with Stan.. he most certainly would have handled that entire relationship better and could have better directed the resources necessary to carry it forward.

General Discussion / Re: Should there even be a PR Focus Group? (Poll)
« on: April 30, 2015, 07:05:02 am »
PR should be done by business building on top of bitshares.

If we create enough incentives to attract entrepreneurs and devs then we should have no problem
getting the exposure and marketing we need.

So basically, I don't think the protocol needs a PR focus group.

We need products and services built on top of BitShares and rewarding those businesses for bringing in users.

Exactly.

Over time, BTS value will be driven by demand generated by real businesses built on top of the platform, not so much from speculation about the platform itself.

(Although, this is also something real that professional speculators can base quantitative decisions upon.)

Altcoin holders are, in general, stuck speculating on the continuing value of a meme.  Nothing wrong with that as harmless entertainment, I suppose.

But growth lies with an ability to support profitable businesses. :)

my  big concern is how those businesses get into positions of power and if the stakeholders will have the ability to vote them out if they do something against our foundational beliefs (like verizon tapping and sending off all your info)

I know you care about this platform fuzzy and I appreciate everything that you do for the platform.

I would like to know your opinion about this question:

Do you want people to have the ability to vote on which business can or cannot be built on BitShares?

What does everyone think about the analogy presented in the podcast?

The Programmers are the Legislator in the crypto space. They code the LAW under which every actor will behave within a given system.
The Miners are the Executive Branch which are the one who will vote which fork is the right one.
In Bitcoin, the holder of the coin don't have much of a say on what's going on other than by lobbying.

If I understand correctly, the voting power in BitShares is to the stakeholder. But right now, when I vote, I don't feel like I am voting to keep the devs in check and make sure the core protocol is securing the life, liberty and property of everyone involve(keeping the legislator in check) but rather on which business are going to receive a subsidy from the Bishares community.

I am getting something wrong?

Can I vote on what features will be added to the core protocol as a Stakeholder?

...and here we all are sobbing like babies :D

It would be nice instead to have a simple set of milestones to point at. Something simple like http://maidsafe.net/roadmap would be ideal.

Milestones; a list of what is unique; coupled with both a mission statement and a vision statement. I don't know, why we don't have those already - front and centre. There's no point in pulling punches in a competitive market. Perhaps it doesn't matter and the market caps are an illusion but it would be nice to make the most of simple opportunities where there exist.

We are preparing a list of milestones with achievable dates.

Finally!  +5%

 +5% Very good news
+5% this needs a bump!
Ive been watching that roadmap and its been on standstill since January. So I dont think its a good idea. (Things happen between the time you create the roadmap and the achievement of them...making them irrelevant)

General Discussion / Re: Current plans on delegate pay?
« on: April 26, 2015, 06:08:50 pm »
delegate pay, referral system, devs seeking funding from entrepeneurs, bitAssets AND bitAssets 3.0 can all co-exist.

CLains with the essence of it all in 16 words.  +5%

+5%

Removing something that works, albeit imperfectly, for something that is completely unproven is not a good idea. Start out with a hybrid system, then if the referral thing works out well we can eventually all migrate to that. We need incremental changes, building on what already exists, not sweeping changes that throw out the old for new shinies.

I agree on this approach
