Technical Support / [solved] Wallet cant get past password stage
« on: March 23, 2015, 07:18:25 pm »
My wallet was barley working on my mac.
It is now not working at all.
It asks for the password, when I type in a password it just shows loading and is stuck on the password screen.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Thanks, didnt know this. Though the market issued assets also had to be launched through some kind of payment.
Your understanding was correct, they must first be created by someone paying the fee according to the name length, similar to user assets. Anyone can create a market asset, but because you'd want the symbol to be the same as the actual asset, you're generally looking at a three-letter symbol and thus a fee of 500k BTS.

Interesting, I thought fees were only for 'user issued assets'. And so such hefty fees for their creation made sense to prevent spam.

But what incentive is there for MrJeans, for example, to stump up for ZAR? It's a currency I'd quite like to trade. Why should I get a free ride (if only I'm patient enough to wait for someone else to find a spare 500k)?!
There isn't any, which is exactly the problem and the reason why we're not seeing new market assets being created.
For someone running an exchange in South Africa, or to compete with mobile payment systems in South Africa such as SnapScan.

Cool video, way too fast and aggressive though (super loud, fast music). Theres a lot going on where you cant make out whats happening which makes it look confusing.

in what way does Bitshares prevent this from happening?
decentralized solution to a centralized problem

I would be cautious here.
They could easily do a charge back and you would have no recourse.
Why do you think they do not provide a Paypal to Bitcoin service, only the other way around.
They are doing some serious volumes according to their log.

It would be good to see the Bitcoin transaction IDs for all these transactions as they occur.

Is there an API for extracting data such as,
number of shares in circulation, price, inflation etc.
Thanks!

I have considered this, but I would prefer not to be held hugely accountable to the community, when requesting such a small amount.
What I was looking for was a non-obligations donation.
In the mean time I am slowly saving up the funds necessary to launch the bootstrapped version, it would have just been nice to launch yesterday. :)
But either-way, this is something I am intended to get off the ground.

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: BitShare Music Wallet release

Cant remember where I read it, but its going to be released on the bitshares chain. Then snapshot and then released again on its own blockchain.
So trading it on BTS is just to get it liquid earlier.

Yes it is performing better now

And from a purely academic point of view.
What would it take to add to the number of market pegged assets on the exchange?

I assume now that we sticking to the one blockchain to rule them all that new assets would simply be added to the current exchange.

Or would other assets need to be introduced on a forked blockchain with some kind of cross-chain trading?

I um, I believe, that when sufficient delegates provide price feeds for an asset pair, the market comes into being automatically.
Yes but to get the asset there in the first place?

Technical Support / Some issues I am having with the wallet
« on: March 14, 2015, 08:44:33 pm »
Using Mavericks and downloaded the latest client.
I need to restart it each time to see a new balance when making transfers to the account.
When trying to buy bitAssets, it says my BTS balance is 0 (which it is not). I therefore cannot trade.

Am I doing something wrong here?

EDIT: my balance now shows and I was able to place a trade. For some reason I keep needing to restart the client. Also the client keeps disconnecting from the network. My internet connection is working fine.

Really enjoying the client UI though!

Yes, please assist if there actually is a problem with the wallet.
It is causing some serious downward pressure.

I personally think that the wallet problems is just an excuse.
