Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

This is just Tony's way of telling the world how much he loves what you have done

Was that any kind of secret before?

What I actually hate, is abandoning something great in search of a new (in my opinion pipe-) dreams.

d in dShares stands for - digital; dex; "da shares" and dan - I will still insist on that, if I have a choice.

OK duly note and added .

Just for the record, DSHARES was the original name for my early ideas on stable crypto...

No, Smartcoins and Altcoins are accepted by the POS systems, but we can now use Blocktrades to bridge/gateway that income directly into the merchants bank account with less steps. Ease of use brings mass adoption.

What will be the slogan?
wait I have one:

"Smartcoins, the easiest way to pay 10% more!"

I've been wondering if there would be any  benefit from changing BTS such that it can be put in either of two states. Switching between the two states could incur a fee (possibly much cheaper or free in one direction).
The two states:
  • BTS is non-transferable and can receive many benefits which may exist (like voting power, building up coin-days for an account to send bitassets, being a sharedrop target, receiving dividends etc.)
  • BTS is transferable, but doesn't receive the host of possible benefits (more of which could exist in the future)

Although this compromise would miss the main benefit of tonyk's idea, I think it has it's advantages. It would reward people who wish to hold BTS as though it were a share and possibly incentivize people to do this. The voting power would lie more with people who hodl.

Sorry - I don't have time to delve into this at the moment, so for now let me just ask, "Does this idea have enough merit to consider any of it's aspects seriously?".

Interesting. and if we manage to get to say 66% converted to non-transferable state, we can switch off the feed and go to market (DEX) pegged assets.

jeez Dan, this should be front and center on the General thread WOOHOO!!
this is EXACTLY what POS merchants are begging for, they want customer funds to go right into fiat, not BTS because of the volatility so this is a MAJOR leap forward for POS systems, thank you!!!!!!!!

It is pretty sad actually - now that we have gate aways, the current state of the smartcoins shows itself, more vividly;
to say nothing about the need for you to change your sign to "Smarcoins NOT ACCEPTED HERE".

yes,

the only addition to the guide now is :

Margin Call will trigger only if the feed price is above the Short's Quality-of-Punishment Ratio (SQPR)

ha, thanks. actually i didn't notice a minimum SQPR that triggers the margin call. What is that ratio in practice? is it the same for every asset?

witness determined; mostly 1.1 now

I agree that off-chain distribution makes a lot of sense.

How about the rules?
[1.I would maybe add - orders (say N=10 times) N times smaller than the market maker's order at better prices do not violate the best bid/ask condition.
2. The MM in those market place both bid and ask orders to qualify; if we want to give the reward for just a single side we have to weight the order toward the other side of the order book, or some other way. Say MM1 places just a buy order - it is given credit only for the sum of sell orders falling within the min spread (say 5% spread max)
]

If yes, Xeroc can write the script in no time, I believe.

yes, and the actual buy price moves  with Short's Quality-of-Punishment Ratio (SQPR) above the current feed price.

the only addition to the guide now is :

Margin Call will trigger only if the feed price is above call price.

[edit] mistakes and clarification.

http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/user/dex-margin-mechanics.html

Great guide btw, never read it before + 1 ; some truths you will never see mentioned anywhere.(more likely to see wrong assurances it ain't so)

Not sure if it covers (the newer) feed/call price condition though.

By half-assed fork I mean that it's useless to "just try something because it sounds interesting". If there is a fork, it's goal should be that it is better than Bitshares. If it's not better than Bitshares, it's stupid to waste resources on that. If it's better than Bitshares, it should get everybody from Bitshares onboard. It should be like transition from 0.9 to 2.0 when everybody abandoned the old chain. Of course not everybody are going to do that, but it should be the goal of the fork.

well it is much better than Bitshares...what do you mean by get everyone on board? Get everyone realize that no feed assets are better than the outdated feed backed assets?
well what if they prefer the warm cushion of BM telling them "all will be fine. I have a plan"? What if they listen to outspoken kids that sold (admittedly) out of their BTS but still insist on posting their juvenile thoughts at 50/h rate and everyone agrees with them?

Should I wait for those to get on board? What is your cut out rate? And what if other people have different way of measuring where support stands?

When the lead developer of the project wants the BTS price to go down* who am I to argue with him. And as I have no other means to short BTS I did the next best thing - sold (not now but within days of the brownie points announcement) and am waiting for the price to at least cut in half to buy back.

When the lead developer of Mutiny wants the BTS price to go down* who am I to argue with him. And as he has no other means to short BTS he did the next best thing - forked (not now but needed just an announcement) and is waiting for the price to at least cut in half to buy back.

really, dilution didn't hurt the price but a random guy named tonyk who just posted a thread about forking it (who has no experience on development)can hurt the price ?
If that's the case , then I'm gonna short the hell out of BTS on polo and start my own fork to profit big time .

I am becoming annoyed and drinking my monthly rations and thus posting out of sequence.

TonyK can take up for himself but how do you know that he has "no experience on development"?

You have no clue about such matters.

This is becoming so absurd.

well, I am neither wild, nor a pig when it comes to development.[but yes, wildpig knowing it all is truly amusing]

I am I big fan of delusion.... I think BM even has a post or something about that - "how to distribute delusion"..."benefits of delusion" or something...

No delusion , no fun!
