Technical Support / success, sort of.
« on: May 16, 2019, 01:51:24 am »

I successfully downloaded the bts 1.0 blockchain and installed the 0.93 client. I restored a .json backup of my wallet and i see my old balance. great.

One problem. I only see transactions up until February of 2015. If its the complete blockchain, why wouldnt all the tranactions load? Ive tried clicking reload but no success. any ideas?

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: proposal to create bitXCD
« on: December 17, 2017, 07:05:18 pm »
How exactly do we see this being used, is it aimed towards large business transactions rather than small personal use?

I love this real world business use. Thank you bitcrab for pulling that together.

Fantastic work bitcrab. This is very exciting.

I wonder what sort of volumes we would possibly be talking about?

Does anyone know what this means?

Transaction was not signed. Do you have a private key? [no_signers].

Thanks

Guess we'll need to be patient

disagree, "we" need to start working and stop hoping for others to take us to the moon

Couldn't agree more fav. But for those of us who are not technical, it would be nice to see us form a committee tasked with X and then hire someone to do it. It seems there's an element of paralysis this decentralisation has, at least until we have more members.

Technical Support / Re: Changing the brainkey?
« on: June 30, 2017, 02:41:33 pm »
You cannot change the brain key of an existing wallet. If you want to use a custom brain key, create a new wallet and click use custom brain key.

Thanks SVK. So, I would then import my private key I assume.

Am I correct that I can go to a new computer and use my brainkey to restore and access my funds?

Let me rephrase this..

The help section states about the brainkey :

"If you never manually imported an account key into your wallet, you can alternatively backup your accounts and their funds by exporting the brainkey, a string of words from which your keys are derived deterministically"

What im trying to do is create a new wallet where i can determine my own brainkey and import the private of my existing account so that i could at the very least always restore my wallet on a new computer by simply remembering a phrase. However, according to the above statement i cant do that after importing the key to my new wallet.

I guess i could just transfer from one account to another, but is there a way to change the brainkey on an existing wallet?

Does anyone know how to change the brainkey of an existing account? A local wallet, not hosted on OL.

Thanks

great idea  +5% +5%

Ecellent. This is great and we very much need a good, stable and easy to use explorer. Its fundamental to the blockchain. Be great to have core charts that show how bitshares is growing and how individual businesses can see theirs.

I think this is wonderful.

General Discussion / Re: So when do we launch localbitshares?
« on: June 23, 2017, 08:15:12 pm »
Great idea.
We need someone who is technical to create a worker proposal outlining the steps so it can get approved and then hire someone to develop it

As a newcomer becoming a worker will take significant time and effort.  You need to build trust in your capabilities before people are likely to approve you as a developer.

If you have cryptocurrency already, you can move onto BitShares through a bridge.  Otherwise, you could purchase some on a centralized cryptocurrency exchange, or you could earn cryptocurrency directly on the Steem social network (steemit.com).  If you're new to cryptocurrency in general and don't want to buy anything yet, I'd recommend starting with Steem.

I am a newcomer here, but I know about cryptos.
I also know steem, but as long as I am not a native english speaker, I have no chances there.
I would like to become a worker in bitshares, but I have a 32bit machine and there is not a bitshares built for 32bit architecture.

So what can I do? How can I join bitshares?

i think you may be confusing the role of the worker. In Bitshares we elect workers who first submit a proposal. Its a very trusted job and is usually held by someone who has been been around a long time and can be trusted to help keep the network running smoothly.

Buy some BTS and participate in the forum or steem imo.

thx.
