Follow My Vote / Re: Follow My Vote Website Update.
« on: January 07, 2016, 11:42:16 am »
Feedback:

+ The website looks good and professional.

- It is totally bloated and its hard to find actual information about the project, status and the team.
- It contains copy-pasted information from other sources.
- People dont believe this project really exists, the website is suspicious.

Why not starting with a small website first, containing the most essential stuff only?

Don't bloat it with unessessary stuff like explaining blockchains. And show faces, code and current progress. Highlight that.

Meanwhile, competition is starting to heat up...
http://www.v-initiative.org/
http://www.bitcongress.org/
http://liquidfeedback.org/
https://agoravoting.com/
All mentioned in this article http://kernelmag.dailydot.com/issue-sections/staff-editorials/11334/bitcoin-online-voting-issues/ too bad FMV wasn't.

Not the real competition. V-Init and Bitcongress are dead. Agora Voting failed raising funds for blockchain integration and skipped that for now. Liquid Feedback is the software used by the german pirate party, also lacking blockchain features.

I outlined real competition here. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,13030.msg270632.html#msg270632

And like to add that any open source project is no competition at all. Just start collaborating already. :)

more competition for VOTE?

http://democracyos.org
http://www.v-initiative.org
http://www.bitcongress.org

DemocracyOS is researching blockchain solutions under the community label http://democracy.earth/
V-Initia is born dead. The V-App page is offline for some months now. Correct me if you know any other details.
Bitcongress claims a lot but never published any code or references. I dont believe in claims.

Most promising solutions are developed by http://democracy.earth, http://publicvotes.org  or the http://decentproject.eu ... and yeah, add http://followmyvote.com to the list.

I'm currently working on a general whitepaper on blockchain voting. You can follow my team on http://appstimmung.de (working title).

I am not sure it would work because someone still would program the algorithms and thus creating a weakness to the system. Besides, there are just too many intricacies of politics that would not feasibly be possible. Introducing legislation, bipartisan cooperation, tough decisions that may be necessary like war or investigations.
Well, that's I guess what makes blockchain technology essential for such solutions. Software has to be open source. Protocols have to be open standards and only work with consensus.

Does anyone more about placeavote? Any contacts yet?

Follow My Vote / Re: How do you stop someone voting twice?
« on: January 07, 2016, 10:35:29 am »
that's an important topic. excuse me if I necro on this one, but it's one of the toughest things to get solved with decentralized blockchain voting.

From my understanding you have something like a share of an asset (a single vote, satoshi)
you can send it where ever you want and still be in control of it..
But a key followup question remains: Who decides who is allowed to vote. Who distributes the tokes or shares. And who makes sure that the "provider" does not abuse his stack to manipulate the voting process?

you will need to register your account at an "central" authority and get a signature for that on the blockchain from that CA.
so your local government has to ensure not to sign the same guy twice on two different accounts
I hope that is not the solution :)

Topcandle: We saw. Nathan was not impressed haha :D BUT the competition is heating up and we are seeing blockchain voting apps and companies springing up all over the place. Time will tell if any of them are legitimate and can put together real blockchain dev teams. The race has begun!

There is not really competition in open source projects, but rather a missed chance in collaboration. So collaborate where ever possible. :-)

what about just disabling special charaters in forum nicks? this could avoid another favdesu* to register and abuse the forum?
