General Discussion / Re: BitNu - Funding BTSX without Inflation...

From the Nubits Whitepaper:
Quote
When this occurs, NuBit demand will decline permanently. The end of the currency will be marked by interest rates rising to unprecedented highs and then going still higher until the vast majority of NuBits are parked. When market participants reach a unanimous consensus that NuBits are worthless, then they will suddenly drop to zero value from one USD. As long as a small group of speculators believe there is even a small chance NuBit demand will reach a new all time high the price will remain one USD. As the currency shows signs of stress and serious decline in levels of use NuBits will pass from ordinary businesses and people to speculators willing to take large risks for large rewards. Ownership of NuBits will centralize somewhat as the currency shows signs of stress. Failure of the currency is not synonymous with failure of the network. If there are other currencies offered by Nu, they will continue to be unaffected.

In the space between now and obsolescence, there is much that Nu can do to benefit shareholders and its users.

It seems to me they know fairly well how the story will end. I guess it all boils down to arguing about when that will happen.

Oh wow, yeah, they basically just spelled it all out right there in the white paper.

Alright then.

We just have to beat them with better technology and marketing. :)

Thanks to the devs and marketing team for the updates!

I think we are all just getting impatient, sitting here watching NuBits come out and have great volume, seeing bitUSD volume shrink as bytemaster makes changes to the market engine, watching the BTSX price decline and not keep up with bitcoin's rise this week, etc.

We are ready for some good news. :)

market cap 2m and the trading volume in 24h is 1m.

I would bet that there are a lot more than 2M NuBits by now, so the market cap should be higher.

But coinmarketcap is pretty slow at updating share counts.

The proposal, the joke and the criticisms hide the simple truth at the core of this issue: That this is an arms race with survival at stake, and that our weapons of war are inflation, interest rates, etc.

Yes.  And at present, here is what an outsider with no skin in the game is seeing:
Nubits is crushing bitUSD in terms of use (volume, market cap).
Bitshares supporters just sit on their forum and laugh at NuBits and call it a ponzi and make jokes.

General Discussion / Re: How to protect my BTSX investment?
« on: October 08, 2014, 06:19:13 pm »
Has it? I feel it has been pegged at about $0.03 USD/BTSX as BTC continues to fall. At the start of the fall we were 0.00006750 BTC/BTSX and now we're around 0.00009 BTC/BTSX which compensates.

When bitcoin was at $450, BTSX was around 3.5 cents.  We are currently just under 3 cents.  We have fallen with bitcoin, though not quite as much.

If anyone wants to see a chart of the BTSX price that is NOT measured in BTC, you can go here:

This is in CNY, but you can see the pattern.

If you think BTSX is going to fall, you can convert to bitUSD.  Then convert back when you think BTSX is ready to rise.    BUT, if you are not an experienced trader, you are more likely to be wrong and miss a rise in BTSX as a result, than you are to save money.

If you want to learn technical analysis, thats a good thing to do, but you should expect to be quite bad at it for years.  If you dont have an entire market cycle worth of experience with technical analysis, you probably wont do very well at trading.  Most people have to lose a lot of money to learn their lessons.  Of course, this wont apply to everyone.  Maybe youre just a prodigy.  Or maybe you will never learn.

Finally, if you are inexperienced at trading, then buy and hold is the best strategy.  Just try to buy when it has dropped significantly, and then hold tight.  Your natural tendency will be to want to sell near the low, and when it is high you will be too greedy to sell.  If you buy and hold through multiple cycles you will be well enough ahead no matter what your timing is that you should do well.

Ah, so we're feeling the bitcoin contraction, just delayed a bit; assuming the reason we fared so well was a buy-in in preparation for the Vegas miracle.

So given the ~18% drop in BTC, BTSX should bottom-out somewhere between 600 and 700 before the marketing push sends us to heights unseen.

We already underperformed bitcoin since the price bottom, btsx went from about 9500 satoshi to about 8000.

Thats not to say it couldnt drop more, but it doesnt have to.

They also had at least some high volume that did not represent market demands because the walls their bots had in place were shifting frequently and crashing into each other during the most volatile period.

This is also part of it.  Possibly even most/all of it.  But it could also have been people hedging their bitcoins.

I had hopes the conference would see bitshares reassert its uptrend, it did not.  Am I seller at these prices? No not till $10 dollars each.

Anyways, opinions, is the marketing execution by Brian Page doing us justices.

What is exactly going on specifically?

It seems that lots of people were thinking that some miracle would happen at the conference and make BTSX go up, and when that didnt happen they all sold.

Wonder how it's going...

Just watch the live BTSX ticker in any exchange ...  it's like watching Dan speaking   :P
when it's going down assume he is saying something about the 5% inactivity fee possibility ,
when it's going up he is for sure talking about the bitAssets yield  8)  :)

Lol.

(Man, that stupid inactivity fee.  Never implemented and never will be, and yet everyone investigating bitshares brings it up).

Anyway, I was watching the BTSX price and it was super boring.

I compared it to BTC charts, and it looks like the BitUSD decline started when BTC broke 400 for good, around Sept 27.
I think the bitUSD decline was due to bytemaster changing the shorting system repeatedly.  Once we get stable again it should go back up.

reminds me of darkcoin going crazy because people think it's related to darkwallet :)

Oh is THAT why Darkcoin made that big move up?  I never knew.  I just sold my darkcoin and bought bitshares when it happened. :D
