General Discussion / Re: Chronos Crypto Videos - Voting Update
« on: May 31, 2016, 11:39:07 pm »
@fuzzy Thanks, I will consider it.

Good news! We now have the votes to proceed with the work. A big thanks to @jakub and @mindphlux for casting their proxy votes in favor.

We are just past the 100% mark, so still subject to some voting volatility.  :) If you haven't voted yet, please do!

General Discussion / Chronos Crypto Videos - Voting Update
« on: May 29, 2016, 03:23:31 pm »
Just wanted to give you guys an update on the voting for our latest worker proposal, Chronos Crypto Videos. At the time of this writing, we currently have support from the following major shareholders and proxies: Xeroc, Bitcrab, Blocktrades, JonnyBitcoin, KenCode, and BitsharesBlocks (plus another 6.3M BTS worth of votes from many, many other accounts, not shown). I'd like to extend a big thank you to all of you who have cast votes in favor!

The full CryptoFresh Voting Report is below:

Work is set to begin on Wednesday, June 1, but we need a few more votes to make that happen. We're over 90% of the way there!

Many of these community members haven't yet weighed in with their thoughts, notably @bytemaster and @jakub. If you would like to see instructional videos produced for the Bitshares network, and you have contact with some of the accounts in the screenshot above, please consider letting them know about your support.

Here's a short video demonstrating the style and quality of video you can expect, with a walkthrough on how to cast your vote.

Thank you!

It's not a simple problem. You might be interested in the OpenDime project.

General Discussion / Re: IS BTS dead?

Thanks to DPOS security, Bitshares can't really die. It can always get less alive, though.

A good measure is the DEX volumes, which indicate that BTS is alive.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker Proposal] Chronos Crypto videos

@fav Good question. The channel currently has 436 subscribers. Average daily views is dependent on when new content is produced, so here's a better metric: in the last 90 days, the channel has had 9788 views, which is an average of 109 views per day.

but instead he has allowed the committee to remain and vote as they see fit.

How generous of him!

Interesting way to look at what is supposed to be decentralized self-governance...
It's an interesting side-effect of the committee structure. If you have enough voting power to elect the 5th-most-popular member, then you can replace positions 6th through 11th with duplicate sockpuppets, and take committee majority. I'd say that @bitcrab assembled a sizable amount of active voting power on this issue, so his actions have been limited in comparison to that.

We have a worker proposal FOR the change, but no worker proposal AGAINST. In order to judge community sentiment, we need both. It's hard to tell how many shareholders are against this. @bitcrab what do you think of a second worker to measure this?

Hi @bitsharesbrazil, I don't have a specific plan that I would put forward, but it is a priority to me. Committee members are responsible for only a few network parameters, and liquidity subsidies would not fall under their jurisdiction. That would be the role of a worker proposal.

One change that I would consider as a committee member would be to require a LTM account for asset creation, but that idea would need more discussion.

@bitcrab is going about this the proper way. I am impressed and pleased by his patience and professional behavior.

He created a worker, which is not free, and it received over 250M votes over a period of weeks. This is enough votes to replace half the committee with his own supporters, but instead he has allowed the committee to remain and vote as they see fit.

He then created the committee proposal, set to expire June 21. I think it's likely that @bitcrab he could have easily enacted this by June 1, but again, he provided another 3 weeks for discussion. We should appreciate his patience in this matter.

Very good. You have my support.

Stakeholder Proposals / [Committee Proposal] chronos-youtube

First, let me introduce myself. I've been around Bitshares since late 2014, back when workers and witnesses were combined as "delegates", and we ran v0.9 as a desktop client. Then in the summer of 2015, I contracted directly for Cryptonomex for a couple months, doing UI work for the light wallet. I've always been fascinated by the tech behind Bitshares.

As a corollary to my work to produce Bitshares videos, I would be interested to take a volunteer position with the Bitshares committee.

As a committee member, my priorities are as follows:

  • Offer low transaction fees to attract consumers, merchants, and traders to the platform
  • Improve liquidity in the DEX, focusing on the BTS trading pairs against BitUSD, BitCNY, and BitBTC
  • Keep Lifetime Membership relevant by having certain network actions require it
  • Maintain network security by keeping witness pay at or above the cost of running a robust full node
  • Enact popular protocol changes that are shown to have super-majority support through worker role voting

Please cast your vote for chronos-youtube for committee member!

Btsnow is receiving BTS now. And a bunch of other workers. As a community, we need to be a bit more purposeful in this area. Random fluctuations should not be the driving factor. Time to bring your votes out!

I'm a developer, but I'm working on a video project (if it gets approved). Chronos Worker Proposal

I'd be interested in a list of active devs. @svk's worker just ended, so he is wrapping up his UI work right now. @dannotestein always seems to have something brewing.

HODOR!
Missed you, Ander. :)

I like low prices. 800 satoshis certainly feels like it's getting there.

What is your position about chronos videos?
committee members have no say about workers ..
If you vote for the worker then I can make this clearer in a video  ;)

Committee members are volunteers who vote on just a few things, such as network fees and witness pay.
