DAC PLAY / How random is random
« on: April 09, 2015, 02:59:30 pm »
At the core of many systems is a trusted random number generator, but it seems that some software libraries that perform this function are not completely random - for various reasons. It might seem reasonable to mix RND methods. How does the Play random number generator work and how has it been validated to prove randomness?

Any failsafe step by step instructions? Registration attempts stall and list as 'pending' for a hour or so, then fail.

General Discussion / Trading BitGld to diversify risk
« on: October 19, 2014, 01:27:33 pm »
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_as_an_investment

Gold apparently correlates well with Crude oil price...
Seems like a good option to invest in for diversification so Bitshares having BitGld is great. I think we need to support it and built it up a bit. Its easy to test with small bids, accessed from the wallet in the Market tab.

Currently the gold price listed elsewhere is around 38.5k
eg http://goldprice.org/

and this is a little different from the current price feed - around 54k
- is it in the nature of the peg to be set naturally higher than the "real price"

Just getting to grips with it, so I have a few questions:

(1) Can we see which delegates are maintaining the gold price feed, and if they are setting prices accurately? Knowing the Price Feed sources, and making this public would be helpful.

(2) With any forthcoming adjustment to BitsharesX -> Bitshares and any other proposed changes, will BitAssets remain connected and "valid", or for some bitassets is this some form of testnet?

(3) Units. These are USD per kg - I assume - can this be added to the chart?

KeyID / Getting started with KeyID / importing wallets
« on: October 05, 2014, 04:10:25 pm »
I've imported pts wallets just fine into KeyID - here's the method for anyone not sure:

(1) Within KeyID, register your account name, then click on >_Console lower down on the left hand menu

(2) In the text box at the top, below Console, type:

wallet_import_bitcoin "c:\<your_chosen_folder>\your_pts_wallet_name.dat" your_top_secret_password your_keyID_accountname

The question I had was on the use of the File > Import wallet command, which imports a .json wallet. Is this just purely a way to backup KeyID wallet somehow, or does importing say a Bitshares wallet tie a founder account to that KeyID? How can you tie founder ID to KeyID wallet or is that required?

General Discussion / Coinmarketcap listing
« on: September 11, 2014, 07:48:50 pm »
CMC seems to vary its marketcap for Bitshares X, currently its at 2000,000,000 - which I guess is incorrect. Any way we can influence the accuracy?

General Discussion / Overview of Bitshares Asset listings
« on: August 27, 2014, 10:44:46 am »
I looked on the Bitshares wiki and searched for "assets" there are didn't find too much just yet (I appreciate it's just been launched, so these are just suggestions). I just wanted a bit more info, for example, what is the precise fee structure for asset creating and for trading? how does or will this fee structure vary in time? what is the benefit to the creator for creating an asset? i.e. do delegates take all the asset transaction fees generated, or is there a split for the creator of the asset? Also, I may have missed an asset listing page with details / summary of all assets - but if not generated yet, it would be helpful to have links to this information directly from the Bitshares client.
