Can anyone explain how this can be mined with GPU? Which software? only solo? pool possible?

Thanks

https://nrs.blockquarry.com/

go to getting started and follow the instructions.

I've done it, and I'm currently mining, but it's CPU coyote miner, I was asking for a GPU. Is there one?

Edit: Found it "pts-getwork" but it seems to work only in solo

Is there any for pool?

maybe the next pool.

One thing I notice as a fellow geek, that is a bad ass multi-monitor setup. I am jealous.
Does it boost productivity as much as I think it does?

Yes it does.

FYI the two monitors were purchased a year prior to starting Invictus and the iMac was purchased long prior to even PTS launching... just in case anyone thought I was using AGS funds to buy computer bling.

if it's a dev pc then i wouldn't mind

+1  ...gotta have the right tools!

Not to mention the 10,000 ft runway we had to put in so that Federal Express could airlift the pallets of 12oz pressurized liquid caffeine cartridges needed to keep those monitors fully utilized 24x7...

I told you to just buy the factory and be done with it!

but seriously, i think that more costs of development should be from the fund. Even Stan deserves a high chair.

Anonymity is compromised the moment you start mailing material.
Anonymity isn't sacred for every user.

Not everyone wants anonymity. If early users promoting the Internet said we shouldn't promote AOL because insecure, it's expensive, slow, and it's not anonymous, who exactly would have tried the Internet?

If the early promoters of operating systems said let's not bother packing Windows in with computers, let's just ship computers without an OS or with a copy of Unix and let them install that then how many people would have got on the Internet or have been introduced to personal computers?

The people who never heard of Bitshares but want the financial services it offers and aren't necessarily concerned with the anonymity. The vast majority of people who will use Bitshares want to protect their money.

If they want to receive it anonymously then they can borrow one of these DVDs or CDs from a friend or get on Tor and download Bitshares.

I do see your argument that in some countries where it could be banned they might want anonymity. But I remember when I first got Linux I had to give my address to get a copy of the CD, and I also remember receiving DVDs from AOL for years in the late 90s to early 2000.

I also received CDs for Internet Explorer, Netscape, Microsoft Word, and a bunch of other software. Believe it or not this is how most people discover new technology, they aren't all going to be on Bitcointalk or surfing the dark web.

They might be reading a finance or investment magazine and stumble upon an advertisement for some new Forex software.

lol, my customers will have to give up anonymity in order to trade for USD, no getting around that.

Yes, the metric is actually the accomplishments of the period allotted and the quality of work produced. this is measured by a small board of 9 investors  + chair. The 9 are chosen at random. I retain the chair but mostly just to advise, policy is always in the hands of investors.

Think you'll need to allow investors to nominate proxies. Very difficult to get shareholders involved in governance . . . nominating a proxy is the lowest bar and might be possible.

Thanks, that makes sense.

We stipulate the use of performance contracts to keep efficiency at a maximum. Rather tahn voting systems which can be manipulated, we opt to use  an officers' performance as a means of retaining employment or being fired. The initial employment uses what luckybit just mentioned, reputation.

The real question is which metrics to use to measure performance. I think outcomes reveal the performance. So perhaps we set a minimum target metric we want them to reach and grade them based on how they do?

I think you cannot avoid voting systems completely when you're trying to measure performance. I do think you have to limit voting to up or down votes, or to scores, simple stuff which cannot easily be gamed. Either they are doing a good job or they aren't.

Amazon uses stars and that seems to work pretty well.

In 6 months my tenure as CEO can be challenged, the only position i cannot be replaced is Chairman. lol, i like chairs.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we could do to keep miners on board after a 60% price drop because miners are purchasing PTS just like everyone else, they just pay with electricity.    The only thing we could do is switch PTS to a proof-of-stake coin.

We could try to 'talk up miners', but miners are economic actors who see that it is cheaper to get PTS by trading than mining and thus make different economic choices.

If the difficulty becomes a long term problem we can take measures to increase the transaction rate, but short of increasing voluntary transaction fees in an attempt to motivate additional miners there is nothing we could do.   It would be like asking us to stop the price of PTS from falling after the BTS-X snapshot.
but the PTS-difficulty-retarget-block-time is implemented like a dinosaur-thing from the good old times...
why not having the fine Kimoto Gravity Well / every block a fresh difficulty?

good idea, they don't seem in a rush to fix the issue though.

I wanted to buy some NRS, and found them several times cheaper than what Barwizi here was selling. So, feeling smart, I sold little more than 2 PTS, transferred the BTC to Openex and then they disabled trading. To top it all, it seems they were hacked and may not be able to reimburse the whole amount *sigh*

Poloneix also lists NRS, but it has already been hacked twice.

Oh well, will try to mine later today using that pool. Solo mining with my GPU for 8 days yielded nada (after which I put it on hashcows).

Still feeling smart?  :)

Yeah, rub it in - you big galoot >:(

 ;D

Btw, I am not getting the email to confirm and log in into that pool.

:D i'll ask the dev to look into it, check your spam folder though.
