General Discussion / Re: Let's try to get @bitshares on twitter
« on: March 24, 2016, 09:16:00 pm »
I don't think it's about the money but about the attitude. While some members might not agree with this and its their right, you claimed "... and expect the community to pay me back for them in full."

It's about people not even be aware of this or not agreeing with this and then having you "demand" to be reimbursed. It feels unfair, hence the comment about a worker proposal of $10k to get the chinese app page. It gives the impression anyone can just do whatever they like and demand the community pays them back.

if theres a worker proposal everyone votes. I expect that people will reimburse me. I could be wrong.
just trying to be useful.

Does Twitter allow there to be an account administrator in addition to a locked-down posting account? Or is one account always one login? If that's the case, this is not something that can be truly "owned" by the community in any way.

IMO, ideally there is a marketer here that realizes that the potential value of owning @bitshares is greater than $3,000, and they pick it up. (CNX, CNI, CCEDK?) I think this asset could be more productive in private ownership.

Alternatively: what if you keep the handle, and submit a worker that pays a smaller amount but over a longer period of time for managing the account, tweeting, building followers, etc. This would be a like a dividend on your investment. Just a thought.

With the facebook page different "roles" can be allocated see here: https://www.facebook.com/help/289207354498410
This means someone like @xeroc can hold the highest position which is admin and is basically the master key to the account.
Then many other people in the community like myself can take the roles of Moderators and editors allowing many of us to contribute news etc but not have control.
I believe there is a similar system for twitter where we could do the same.

@roadscape could you please create a worker proposal for me to cover this $2800

Roadscape my man , could you create a 10000 USD worker for me while you're at it . I just purchased  bitshares account name on the most influential social platform in China which are really important for this community .  ;) ;)

You've made it very clear you think this was a waste of money and you won't support this worker proposal.

General Discussion / Re: BTC to BitBTC

If we assume that we use Open.BTC/Metaex.BTC directly that mean that we should stuck with IOU provider with very limited liquidity. That is not actually a good thing for our product.

 +5%

We must find ways to increase smartcoins liquidity (with priority to bitBTC)....  what about the bond market? When will it be ready?

BITBTC is never gonna work for people wanting to deposit bitcoin. we need sidechains for cryptocoins. bitassets only make sense for not digital assets like fiat and gold.

Zero-fee = Fee-free = Feeless = Bytemaster's original idea -> Not suitable name for abit's implementation.

Balance based fees -> Also misleading, because fees are not going to change based on balance. Fees will be same for everybody, but depending on how much your balance is, you have credits that you can use to pay the fees.

Come on people, this shouldn't be so hard. Only scammers and pump'n'dumpers will market their products with vague and misleading names and descriptions.

This is what happens if we choose misleading name for feature:
"Oh, cool, you have zerofee transactions! That's best thing ever! I'm going to start using Bitshares and tell all my friends about it!"
"Uhh... Wait a minute... There are lots of fees here... This is not a zerofee system..."
"So you lied to me! Bitshares must be a scam project. Fuck you guys, I'm going to tell everybody that Bitshares sucks and it should be avoided like a plague."

Never ever lie to your customers. It will backfire every time.

free transactions is what it people will call it. Lets use that to avoid confusion.

OPEN.BTC and METAEX.BTC charge 0.3% not 3% but that is still alot just to deposit.

I mean full path from BTC to BitBTC. If we assume that we use Open.BTC/Metaex.BTC directly that mean that we should stuck with IOU provider with very limited liquidity. That is not actually a good thing for our product.

METAEX.BTC or OPEN.BTC if you restrict your traders to just one of these the there will be plenty of liquidity as it will be the only btc trading against it.

BITBTC will not be a low cost option for a long time.

hey!

BITBTC is not liquid enough to provide a low fee bridge right now either.

What would be best for you would be have your own exchange and issue your own UIA for example CYBER.BTC

you could charge 0%

+5% +5% +5%  for the initiative !!!

some thoughts...

I think if you want to stick to the "best" 20 crypto's you should use the first 20 with the biggest volume NOT the 20 with the  biggest marketcap.... because we will see many shitcoins on the list very often....
if bit20 is depended from marketcap only it will be very misleading...  And not only use the 24h volume of course... we can use the top 20 crypto with the biggest weekly or monthly volume....

if you want to stick only with the marketacap then I prefer a bit10 index instead of the bit20 so that crap coins get out-filtered...

I support this point. Market cap is a bad measure of performance. Issue trillions of shit coins and get #1 market cap. Look at ripple for example. Trade volume is the only good way to evaluate crypto token performance.

trade volume is also easily faked

Amanda is great!  I haven't approached her about this yet but I think she could make us an excellent "how to use bitshares video" or "what are bitshares video"

I may just get a quote from her and then create a donation address to raise funds for this.

What do you all think?

Who owns BitShares account name on Bitcointalk.org ?

That's maybe a really really important marketing asset for us . Prepare yourself for a couple thousand bucks ! We will have a worker to pay for the account name .

Who owns BitShares account name on Wechat Public platform (the most crowd social tool on earth) ? Prepare yourself for a couple thousand bucks ! We will have a worker to pay for the account name .

hell , next thing we know , people would start to register all kinds of BitShares name on every major social networking tool (even dating site!) and wait to be brought by this community .

Nice marketing .

Twitter and FB are the most important social media accounts, we should control them as big brands do.  Your sarcasm isn't helpful.
I understand the power of twitter and FB well. One day of dilution isn't much to pay in the grand scheme of things. And the if we become big one day it will be even harder to get them then.

After reading you reply , I've realized the importance of this . So , following your lead , I've purchased the most important social media account about BitShares in China's Wechat platform .
So .....who should I contact to reimburse my 10000 USD for purchasing this important account ?

Why would we want a we chat account. they are for private messaging not for creating a public image and making announcements. I think fb and twitter will do.

General Discussion / An open letter to Ronny B of Openledger
« on: March 20, 2016, 10:28:54 pm »
@ccedk

Dear Ronny B,

As it currently stands I see no major difference between the downloadable light client and Openledgers webwallet.
After raising $237,000+ from the Obits crowdsale I think many Obits holders would have been hoping to see you make some custom changes to the GUI.
the GUI is great for us bitshares fans but the GUI is too complex and confusing for new users who may be used to poloniex right now.

These are some simple changes that are mostly about removing some stuff and not actually paying for development of new features.
I think these changes would make the user experience for first time users much much better.

- Host your exchange at openledger.info (right now it is a redirect)
- You could limit your GUI to just OPEN.BTC trade pairs
- Remove unnecessary buttons like a lot of the options on the vertical menu
- Make the Deposit/Withdraw button more prominent by moving it to the top menu.
- Remove deposit and withdraw options from other providers
- Limit the openledger users to a single account
- Add a trollbox
- Add a favicon
- integrate your homepage in to the exchange itself.
- Merge CCEDK and openledger into one.

If you are worried about losing features create a tickbox in settings to toggle on advanced features.
I sure for a handsome fee @svk  would be willing to make these custom changes for you.

I would like to start my own exchange at thedex.org but have put this on hold for 6 months until a few things settle down but I still hope to do it. But until then please take my best ideas and run with them.

Regards

Jonny B
