Technical Support / Re: Latest light wallet and connectivity issues
« on: November 27, 2017, 08:09:55 am »
This is a good point. I think we need Full nodes in Australia, South America and Africa. Hopefully we can get more businesses involved in the DEX that will add those services. Unfortunately the cost to run those servers continues to go up as the full node runs around 64GB RAM now and continues to grow. Running a local node is a solution but it does require some technical skills.

vote for the infrastructure worker...
I did. But we will need more...

Technical Support / Re: Missing active authority

This usually means that your wallet is missing one of the keys. Double check and make sure that all your private keys are still in the wallet if not you will have to add/restore them.

To setup a full node see here:
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23925.msg303814.html#msg303814

You can skip CLI, it's not needed. Once you get this going and still want to run a full node for Australia PM me and I will help you set it up.

I would agree with you that we need more Full nodes (the ones that allow trading, most seed nodes don't), and I don't know of any in Australia. As an alternative, if you have at least a 64GB RAM machine at home you could setup a local node and have the wallet connect to it. As far as finding active nodes, the wallet supposed to switch to the closest one automatically as it finds them. Also try adding this one:
Code: [Select]
wss://bitshares.crypto.fans/ws
It's run by @startail and not hard coded in the wallet, maybe it will help.

Great, you are also looking for our passwords and RSA keys?

General Discussion / Re: BitShares Seed Nodes
« on: November 18, 2017, 05:36:57 pm »
Here are my definitions of BTS nodes:
Witness - Stores blockchain, limits CLI access to local port, provides p2p for blockchain downloads, generates blocks, and does not include history plugins
Seed - Stores blockchain, limits CLI access to local port, provides p2p for blockchain downloads, does not generate blocks, and does not include history plugins
Full node - Stores blockchain, opens CLI access to www (for the community) or limits it to local port (for example runs on your computer to provide fast wallet sync), provides p2p for blockchain downloads, does not generate blocks, and includes history plugins

Voted!

Just FYI, under the new GUI it's under PROPOSED - took me a second to find it.

Some of the nodes were upgraded to the latest version that stopped working last night. People running full nodes are rolling back to an older version to get all of the services back up. That just means that your connection has high latency atm, I think all the nodes should be back up in about 24hrs.

Random Discussion / Re: Fork of steem, "calibrae"
« on: October 19, 2017, 02:47:26 am »
Looking from outside on your project, I don't see any significant contributions to make you distinguishable from steem. Tweaking few parameters will not make this stand out. Looks to me like I could make your listed changes to the code over the weekend myself and have it up and running by Monday. I am just not sure what is the value added vs Steem to this new blockchain?

How did you set up your feeds for BitBTC? Curious as I am suggesting we create an official smartcoin for BitETH, etc...
It uses BitcoinAverage and falls back on the exchanges if that API is not available.

Thanks. is there a "code" for this that is public amongst witnesses you can share? I'd like to tweak it and put out a proposal. Are other witnesses using a similar strategy, or can they use their own?

Yes. We use price feed tools written by other members: BTS Tools, xeroc's price feed and alt's. Look at the guide I wrote:

October notes for my witness:

- Updated MCR on HERO to 200%
- Updated my testnet witness and seed on TestNet after last night's testnet crash
- Approved HF, which scheduled for 2017-11-27 14:40 UTC
- Updated my test box to 32 RAM with 32 Swap and ran a full node test on TestNet
- My full node on dexnode.net runs now at 55.6GB RAM, if you want to run a Full node - plan accordingly, This is running on my 96GB RAM Dedicated server, I will upgrade it to 128GB RAM if we pass the 75GB RAM mark
-  To do for next 30 days:
Update all my servers before the HF
Upgrade my test box to 64GB RAM
Build a faucet on dexnode.net to supplement OL

@sahkan could you check`? Regarding HERO

Will get done corrected today if I'm off.
@fav I just checked and DEX is forcing the MCR at 200% based on majority, I will adjust today to reflect that.
