Do bitshare holders benefit from hero?

The Billion Hero campaign is designed to promote the Hero token by raising awareness for bitshares.
Some time this summer Stan has locked 3,000,000 bts in a dedicated wallet, it was worth $1,000,000 back then. The campaign ends when this locked amount of bts worth $1 billion (thousandfold increase in price). So yeah, it benefits the bts holders a great deal.

This campaign has more chance to end much faster, when his $1000000 get margin called. Or did this already happen? o_0

No, he locked up three million bts, not bitusd. Look up the billionherocampaign (or something like that) wallet

Technical Support / Creating a worker proposal
« on: November 20, 2017, 04:28:26 pm »
I've read the summary on how workers work and it got me confused - what is the cli_wallet?
docs.bitshares.org/integration/apps/cliwallet.html says I need a full node to run it. Can't I create a worker without a full node?
I have a bitshares2-light wallet and I suppose it's not possible to create one through there?

lol guys, BTS currently has FOUR, count them, FOUR professional marketing teams hired. Let's go through the list:

 - High Rise Elite Marketing
 - Digital Launch
 - "Then you should see the other third of our team...." - Stan, alluding to a THIRD marketing team
 - BTS Chinese marketing assault that's currently ongoing (Zicen and team "hired" by the blockchain)

So uhh....yea...things are about to get pretty hot and heavy up in here. Hope your bags are filled.  ;)

(Source: https://steemit.com/bitshares/@Stan/behind-the-scenes-at-the-billion-hero-campaign)

Digital launch, High Rise and the third one are working on the Hero campaign, which AFAIK is a private project, funded by Stan/cryptonomex, with no deadlines and progress updates. Stan stopped talking about it several weeks ago and nobody really knows if it is still on. I know that he doesn't owe me anything and I am in no position to demand reports and updates but it would be really helpful if he commented on this thread's topic

First and foremost we need to select a person/s that will manage this whole thing from our side. Someone needs to be in contact with the marketing team, answer their questions, approve strategies, set goals and decide on funding. Can it be a spokesperson job? Or do we want someone else? Deciding on what team to hire is easier IMO, just google "best marketing firm" and take what looks better.
Please don't let this topic die in here, marketing is desperately needed. There are still people who think that bitshares is a scam because bytemaster left. There are still people who have never heard about bts. A good chunk of crypto traders still think that expensive=better and "there is no better tech than bitcoin". Many more businesses could be building upon bitshares if they only knew about us. Current state HAVE to change if we don't want to silently die in the corner without anyone noticing.

Bitshares need to stop marketing itself as "first decentralized", "fastest transactions", "control your private keys" and start promoting a dream or a positive emotion such as "easy steps to wealth that you control", "stop paying the banks and pay your self",  etc etc
I think this guy thinks in the right direction, reminds me of the apple's tv ad for the first mac.

I also think that Kevin Messerly should be paid for all the great PR he does on twitter

52
I thought bitshares already had a marketing team? Unless yall didn't get the memo.
As far as I know we only have the China team and the Stan's one, which works on the Hero campaign

53
Would be also nice to get a comment from Stan on this whole situation and what's up with the billion hero campaign, and maybe also suggest the right marketing team for us

54
I talked about it in the "marketing efforts" thread, but it wasn't taken too seriously.
At least we have some marketing in China now

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares price discussion

Get BTS on https://www.bithumb.com

Are you sure? I just went there, and BTS is not listed.   Their translations are very poor, not a lot of confidence in that website.
He meant "get bithumb to list bts"

And as for confidence - it's a number two exchange on CMC by trading volume ($1.14 billion)

56
Oh, I thought it would automatically convert my whatever holdings to btc when I withdraw through it... Well if I need to sell all my bts for btc and then withdraw through that system then yes, there is no problem at all

EDIT: What happens with the people who are already on the DEX? Let's say there's someone who holds bitBTC in their wallet, then you implement this awesome new feature - they won't have equal amount of btc in the "gateway wallet". And if I sell them my bts for bitbtc, I'll receive no btc to mine. Will they need to move their bitbtc out to a centralized exchange and go in again, now through the gateway? Am i missing something?

57
Yes, I was inconsistent with my original point :)

What if I deposit x btc and buy bts with it, then bts goes to 330$ - how can that be adressed? By putting up some disclaimer or something?

58
II think that your earnings are someone else's loses so all backed BTC should be able to pay all earnings, am i wrong ?

Exactly!

In the grand scheme of things it's correct but irrelevant. Your gains on the dex can be completely independent of your trading. You can just hold your coins there and the price can suddenly surge - who's loss is it? Some guys from China? How do you track it?
The trading-related gains are indeed losses for someone else, but again, how do you track it?

59
I'm sure we've all seen it already. A long ass article that looks like it was written by a two year old stating that Dirkes, our spokesperson, is under FBI investigation for stealing investors money. This case doesn't show up anywhere in google search and the only mention of it is in the said article written by some dumbass.
What I don't get is who the hell wrote it and why? We are not big/popular/rich enough to have controversies around us, what possible gains could be reached here? Is it our competitors (waves etc)?
Anyway, as this piece of crap is being posted in more and more places it could hurt our reputation, there's enough people thinking that this project is dead/abandoned, we don't need folks to think we are scammers too. Could we get an official statement from mrs Dirkes herself, clearing all this shit up once and for all? Isn't it what the spokesperson should do - speak?

Technical Support / Re: TESTNET Issues to be discussed.

We are not alone.
We've got folks from apasia.tech, agorise, openledger, bituniverse - all trying to help and move this project forward. No reason to be pessimistic, we just need to embrace them and work together, not against each other. They may be small teams with limited resources but none of them needs to lead the whole thing. Can we bring them together and see who wants to do what?
