Uninstall 0.8.0 before installing the new version?
https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/releases/latest
no need to uninstall

General Discussion / Re: Stale Slates
« on: August 04, 2015, 01:37:47 pm »
How do I specify the slate? I changed my local approvals and did wallet_publish_slate dev0.nikolai and I got "Cannot publish the null slate!"

Cast votes for delegates within the delegate wallet with the same command you use like any other user.

Then publish it like you did above. At least that's what I understand.

You don't "cast votes", you set approval and then move funds around. I set approval, then tried to publish. Where does the slate it attempts to publish come from? Before it was approved delegates in your wallet
. It definitely shouldn't depend on what specifically I'm voting for with any BTS in that wallet.

What you are doing should work. Your approvals show up correctly if you do "wallet_list_approvals" ?

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Developer delegate: dev-pc.bitcube
« on: August 03, 2015, 05:11:21 pm »
Posted report for July: http://bts.quisquis.de/delegate/report.html

Started implementing additional unit tests for libraries/fc - squashed various bugs, including one buffer overflow

Great work on fc, pc  :)

Technical Support / Re: Genesis-json

I assume you mean a snapshot that can be loaded into Graphene as a genesis state?

This is still being tested and currently requires some manual editing to create.

General Discussion / Re: Exchange using all liquidity providers?
« on: July 29, 2015, 08:30:57 pm »
My understanding was that it would look at all exchanges and even look at things like convert BTC -> CNY -> BTS, etc. to find all the possible BTS that can be acquired (and vice versa).

Yes this is strange.. could there be anything funky with either your system clock or NTP clock ?

Some time later i'm still not able to access any of my bitshares and i've now tried and failed to get the basic client working on four computers, three PCs and a mac it stalls out and eventually crashes like 50-60% through syncing

I also have an ongoing wallet recovery issue that I fear is going to get worse when the switch to graphene happens
https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares/issues/1509

Are all of these syncing attempts using the GUI client with your wallet open? Assuming yes, do you get any different behavior if you just create a new wallet on startup and try to sync? Best bet is to sync first then worry about importing any wallets you have.

Using the command line client will be even better. There are some details here about how to run it on Windows: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,17386.msg223161.html#msg223161

The ideal way is to use the command line client to fully sync first, and then we can import your wallet.

General Discussion / Re: New bitshares.org Feedback
« on: July 24, 2015, 05:21:06 pm »
The link on the faucet webpage still isn't right.

"How to Register a BitShares Account" links to http://bytemaster.bitshares.org/tutorial/2015/01/03/How-to-Register-a-BitShares-Account/, which redirects to plain old https://bitshares.org/.

Surely it should go to something more like https://bitshares.org/register/?

This simple problem could potentially stop many people from 'joining' BitShares...

Notified @valzav .

I don't think I fully understand your description, but I believe you've just (at least partly) described Ripple Consensus.

What about orders?  Will they be cancelled?

Yes open orders will be canceled and funds returned to owners -- to help reduce complexity of the migration.

72
Will the terms of these contracts be changed and the positions rolled into the closest equivalent assets in 2.0?

Yes.

@bytemaster can comment on the specific differences.

DevShares / Re: devshares2.0 would snapshot bts2.0 or dev0.9.x?
« on: July 19, 2015, 05:46:09 pm »
DevShares 2.0 will be an upgrade of DevShares 0.x

exactly as BitShares 2.0 will be an upgrade of BitShares 0.x

Ignore include folder.

Just try running the new version first. If it works correctly then it will access your old wallet automatically.

If that doesn't work then we can try other options.
