General Discussion / Re: where has my btsx gone???? ?:(
« on: December 07, 2014, 03:09:09 pm »
When I re-installed the client a while ago, I found it just installed a second copy of the software, rather than upgrading it.

So you might find you have 2 versions of the software installed - one pointed at the old wallet, and one pointed at the new.

Feeds are updated every 2 minutes so should be. However you can only publish feeds once you're in the top 101.

Hmm, so this is a kind of catch22 for new delegates. We can't tell if standby delegates are publishing feeds until we make them actual delegates!

+5%

Remember that you can sort the columns by clicking on the titles, makes it easier to see all the delegates without feeds.

Does this show accurate info for new delegates?

Also, any chance bitsharesblocks could show the delegates with slates, and the delegates recommended on them?

i am really concerned. Many delegates do not publish feeds. At this moment in time only 59 delegates provide bitUSD feeds. I believe if the market will shut down because we have not much feeds it will have a bad impact on BTS.

So every delegate provide feeds or quit your job. Especially every delegate paid more than 3%.
- why we have still so many INIT delegate without feeds? do we still need them? if yes, install a feed script.

everyone should consider to take everyone out of their votes and maybe we can elect more reliable people.

I've recently set up a delegate for the first time. Setting up feeds is toughest part - there's little information on how to do it, and it is scattered around many threads. I'm still not sure if I've successfully managed to do so. I'm also not sure if I should be wasting time on it, if they are to be discontinued. Bottom line - more information needed.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: About Slates
« on: December 05, 2014, 05:25:56 pm »
A very basic version of this is coming in the next version, enough to at least vote safely from a hot wallet at all. A more powerful version will come after it is more carefully designed.

Great news! Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Can someone create a video on how to vote
« on: December 05, 2014, 05:19:40 pm »
these questions need to be answered in a video.

Actually what I think we need is a much simpler voting system.

>The chosen set of delegates will earn additional approvals in the amount of the stake your transfer.

I guess this means users have got to shuffle their entire funds between different ids every time they want to change their votes. This guarantees that users won't vote much.

Thanks for the explanation, although it leaves me a little disappointed. :(

It seems like it will require constant engagement of shareholders (which we're not going to get).

Think we're going to need proper proxy voting (allow shareholders to fully delegate their voting power to a trusted third-party).

Deeply impressed, both by the application and the incentive system making it possible.

Other projects are going to have a tough time keeping their devs.

Technical Support / Re: Stupid questions about running a delegate

Think I found that I had to use

wallet_account_update_registration

as the account was already registered.

Stakeholder Proposals / About Slates
« on: December 05, 2014, 08:12:58 am »
I'm just getting to grips with these slates - got some questions -

Is there any way yet to see who is publishing slates, and which delegates are on those slates?

Does a delegate need to republish his slate every time it changes? Or is the delegate publishing the fact that his slate is available, and is automatically updated?

If I send funds, using another delegate's slate, and the delegate then updates his slate, is my vote updated with his most recent slate, or do I need to send funds again to vote his most recent slate?

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: free trial vps or digitalocean discount?
« on: December 05, 2014, 06:17:19 am »
I recently started with Digital Ocean and was disappointed with their bullshit.

1. They don't accept any crypto currencies
2. They require a deposit before you can use the 'free' credit
3. After you make a deposit, they still won't let you get started, but then inform you they need a boatload of id.

They get recommended a lot because they have a generous referral scheme, but we could do with identifying more honest and better fit participants in this market.

Technical Support / Re: Bitshares pts

Just remember to withdraw your PTS from online exchanges and hold in a local wallet. Especially if they are in Cryptsy.

Random Discussion / Re: Ketogenic (Very Low Carbohydrate) Diet
« on: December 03, 2014, 05:58:03 am »
Here's a great talk given by a 25-year vegetarian from a Stanford professor into a study with 300 people on 4 different diets. He concludes low-carb (atkins, paleo etc) is best for weight-loss and health indicators.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eREuZEdMAVo

My conclusion about the increase of (especially morbid) obesity in the world is that it is a positive-feedback problem cause by bad official dietary advice.

Eat low-fat, high-carb diet -> Gain Weight -> Eat low-fat, high-carb diet -> Gain Weight -> Eat low-fat, high-carb diet -> . . . until some other limiting factor stops the cycle.

Agree - I regard with deep suspicion those who claim to be PTS shareholders, and just insist that we leave 'their' chain alone.

I don't agree with every detail of the upgrade, but it is necessary and I support it.

I am glad to see people expressing their opinions, but I am holding far more BTS than PTS/AGS and still want to see PTS/AGS exist far into the future.  Otherwise we are not diversifying risk.  We are restricting our investment vehicles in the bitshares ecosystem to 1 single point of failure...and that is a terrible terrible idea.   Why is this value proposition lost?

I agree - I think PTS will be a good DPOS backup in the event one of the more complex BTS features fails in some catastrophic way.
