We're getting closer! I'll provide a 1 PTS reward for the best guess...

Guess the correct date and time that Bitshares passes Mastercoin on www.coinmarketcap.com. Winning estimate must be posted here at least 3 hours before your date/time prediction occurs (in other words, no last minute bids--too easy). Play as many times as you want.

If you think you've won, then please provide me with proof (screenshot, charts, etc.). And I'll pay the winner a reward of 1 PTS.

EDIT: Yes, I understand there may be some see-sawing and trading positions. This challenge is for PTS' first pass of MSC, no matter what happens later. Hopefully, it will be the only pass!

General Discussion / Could BitUSD provide leverage for exchanges?
« on: May 07, 2014, 07:17:05 pm »
What does anyone think of this article (link below). It seems to indicate that Huobi and the Chinese exchanges are exploring adding another layer of either P2P exchange or play money, so that they do not have to constantly convert to fiat (which the Chinese banks are making difficult). What if they had something like bitUSD or bitCNY, fictional yet tangible and valuable, to use in this way?

While the overall results may end up the same, it turns out there is an element of psychology as well:

Please chime in and help keep this thread (which I did not start) up on Reddit. The Bitcoin mods may take it down, so the second link below shows the article it references...which is superb for Bitshares, one of the best and most stoked explanations I have seen.

General Discussion / Geocache'ing some PTS in Vegas
« on: March 29, 2014, 12:04:49 am »
An app called CoinPlanter just won an award from Coinbase for ideas built upon its platform. The app, which is in Google Play Store (link below) allows someone to geocache bitcoins in a particular physical location.

One wild idea might be to enable this or something similar for PTS and advertise that at the Las Vegas Beyond Bitcoin event, there would be a treasure hunt. Put it at the bottom of the hotel pool or under the fake Eiffel Tower. Or call this a Vegas heist or whatever. Could put it out in the desert somewhere, but it's damn hot there in July to risk dehydration.

General Discussion / Up Yours, DAC
« on: February 28, 2014, 07:31:51 pm »
Pandora meets Autosurf. Advertisers, musicians, videographers, and website owners pay to have their work seen by a captive audience (or it could start with one or two of these categories). Viewers earn a small amount for watching a channel continuously and upvoting/downvoting content. Possible Facebook integration to add "likes" for the best content. Content with a high upvote ratio gets more airtime per dollar spent. Over time, either the channels get more specific or else (if someone can program this in), the content is specifically tailored to a viewer's past history of upvote preferences. Maybe some kind of coordination with the Music or Radio DAC?

General Discussion / DAC Power for Offline Businesses
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:26:14 pm »
I'm intrigued by the possibility of using the DAC power for more than just the digital or transactional businesses that we've heard about. Granted, I think there is a great deal of promise with these digital ideas; DACs are a wonderful innovation and I don't mean to demean them. Nevertheless, the world of possibilities could be a great deal bigger. And forgive me for using the "DAC" term in explaining this, since I know this idea is not purely digital, but it would still require a strong digital element.

I don't see any reason why an offline business (which sells a product (e.g. coffee) or a service (e.g. tax preparation)) could not also honor, and be accepted into, the Social Contract. This Contract might become embedded in a business' partnership agreement or articles of incorporation, or some enforceable offline contract which makes it legally binding. Yes, I know, we'd all like to dream that DAC Utopia can work without courts, but as these organizations grow, some conflicts are inevitable. Disputes will be governed by contract law and contracts are enforced by courts.

The DAC end of the business could control the digital funding and shareholder aspects, including distribution and voting. It would turn the DAC investors into a VC fund, crowdfunder, shareholder, or passive investor, which is exactly the role they already play within a number of the purely digital businesses. This could even be a pure crypto-currency based business that only accepts BTC or PTS for its products/services, therefore the whole balance sheet is blockchain-verifiable. There would be some trust involved, that the business owner would deposit everything into the DAC, etc., and not jump ship, but that risk already exists in expecting a digital DAC owner to honor the Social Contract. Would my offline suggestion be any different than a corporation or a government that decides to turn over its voting to the digital blockchain, which I know DAC proponents have suggested as a future possibility?
