General Discussion / Re: Rumors of Darkcoin being a pyramid scheme
« on: March 25, 2015, 01:58:21 am »
People accuse any successful code of being a scam, 100% of the time.  Its meaningless.
This is just as much BS as all the peopel who say Bitshares is a scam.

(They also accuse every unsuccessful or falling coin of being a scam).

I've heard about it being premined,  but that is about it.
+5% that's all I heard as well.

Is this the dev chain (for testing?) or is this the real thing?

With the market cap being what it is doing any actual marketing might be tough until the funds pool a bit.

I do however support adding liquidity to any of the MM bots.

Good stuff and it does fill in some gaps.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: BitSuperLab please fix your feeds

Just wanted to post up to bring attention to this

current silver feed price median is showing as 15.7845021684$

current market price from kitco(ny spot) bid  SILVER bid-16.86    ask-16.96

anyone else seeing a problem here?

welcome in our world :D

on metaexchange.info we have the same problems on the bitBTC pair. We should discuss if we can improve the feed prices or if we can find a better solution for it. If we want to create businesses around the BitShares ecosystem we need better feedprices.

The first step in solving a problem is that we all acknowledge that their is one.

Hopefully others will join the discussion and we can begin to work toward a common goal.

 blockchain_get_feeds_for_asset 6

returns quite the range -
"price": 0.00051223015243678999      for a bunch of folks
"price": 0.0011302211302211                for others

Not sure how many places to move the decimal over, but its still a hell of a gap

or maybe a "Services" or "Projects" section, where each service/project like stores, exchanges, could have their own thread to provide the updates and even some support to their costumers. Kinda like the delegates one, but exclusively for each service BitShares Delegates is providing. That way it would make them even easier to find, you just browse through the section and see what everyone has to offer, what store, exchange, bridge or gateway to use.

I like the services idea, it helps to promote the whole ecosystem.

And to keep the "official" client neutral .. a plugin system should be added such that you can "install" metaexchange or other bridges/gateways as addon ..

alternatively, metaexchange could host it's own wallet having a bridge from BTC built in! @monsterer
I spoke to Valentine yesterday about adding a "MarketPlace" page to the wallet where blocktrades, metaexchange, etc can be listed and he indicated that it shouldn't be difficult to add. Hopefully we will see something like this soon.

Also, if there are other suggestions for the name of such a page, please post your idea about it.

+5% This would be a great way to showcase third party apps and services.

If it's true, you should buy BTS but not sell.
because exchange need to buy back BTS to pay debt.
this is good thing if we can prepare.
exchange can broke, but not BTS.
and we still waiting BTC38 to prove their 250 million BTS balance.

I didn't have enough to break the bank but my bts withdraw went through fine.

Its possible that the limit is there because my account is new?  I only registered it this week so that I could move btc there from bter and buy BTS, back when bter wasnt allowing withdrawals.

I took it out tonight and it let me take most of it, but not all.

contact  & withdrawal   gogogo!!

Right now it looks like we are dependent upon many free sources.

Cryptosmith accepts payment in bitgold/bitsilver so if the silver feed isn't keeping up with the live market I am sure you can see what a issue this will be, not just for myself but any merchant that wants to accept bitassets.

Many sources/greater reliability is what I am advocating here

Will there be a problem to Cryptosmith  when the price feeds are depending on free sources?

Only if those sources go off line.....even if for a short time, the market would keep moving and the feed would not be updated. The longer the period the feed would be off line well the greater the problem.

I believe any decent paid service also will take a average of many markets for any commodity thus giving you a market average.

Perhaps its just over my head but I don't understand the attack vector for feed prediction myself. I just don't see how you can predict the price feed without a crystal ball.

As to answering your question, no I don't believe their is ever a 100% accurate price. I think instead of adding .2% of random filler we should focus on where we get our feeds from.

Through some of my own research I have seen that quality price feeds that are updated from many sources/markets and guarantee 99% up time and are updated more often.
