So...

I got some tokens in the presale. When I log in to secure.peerplays.com I can see my contributions listed there. Fine.
How do I transfer these into my BTS wallet? I can see come PEERPLAYS being traded in the DEX, so I assume it should be possible?

They sold 15% of their tier 1 in the first week.  What did you expect?

$2 million market cap is still serious coin for a small team like the one they got, and promising a working product by the end of the year is realistic, but investors seem to prefer the over promise under deliver ICOs (ethereum, IOTA, Lisk) that are continuously failing to meet deadlines.

So when they say that they will have a working product by November, investors in this space have been conditioned to say:

"yeah right, November 2017! maybe"

I'm sure that the lower tiers will sell once they start showing some progress.  In the meantime, they might trade cheaper on the DEX.

You own the network, but who pays for development?

as far as i see the crowdsale is going slow. how long will tier1 and tier2 run if you not sell everything?

- and what will happen to the remaining PEERPLAYS from this tiers?
- how much do you need to start this project or will it start with or without this ICO met his target?

Answer questions people have on forums and social media

- Translate and post the regular Peerplays development updates in both social media and the forums in their own language

- Promote to places where their language is spoken

- Post an OP announcing the Peerplays project and their role as ambassador in their country in all the forums they are members of, including outreach to forums outside of the crypto space, like gaming and gambling forums.
It's pleasure to do the easy part.

No sharedrop planned? Is sharedrop theory dead?

Yes, it looks like sharedrop is pretty much a history.
Really gutted about this, I always thought that it was a really cool idea that new platforms buy users by sharedropping onto BTS (or BTSX/PTS how far you look back), I don't take new systems based on BTS tech seriously if they don't bother doing a sharedrop.

We are taking a more comprehensive approach to international relations. What this means is that we are now looking to hire Language Ambassadors who can represent Peerplays to their own countries and interact with communities in their language on a regular basis. We need people who will:

- Answer questions people have on forums and social media

- Translate and post the regular Peerplays development updates in both social media and the forums in their own language

- Promote to places where their language is spoken

- Post an OP announcing the Peerplays project and their role as ambassador in their country in all the forums they are members of, including outreach to forums outside of the crypto space, like gaming and gambling forums.

- A one-time translation of the Peerplays crowdsale landing page text, as well as text from 2 or 3 short videos explaining the checkout process (videos are being made right now). All the text from the page and videos will be given to the ambassador as a text document.

- Ambassador must be willing to give their first and last name, and social media and forum contact links, to be displayed on the Peerplays website so foreign visitors know who to contact as their ambassador.

We are offering a weekly retainer which will be a combination of tokens and BTC.

Currently we are seeking for the following languages:

French
Spanish
Chinese
Japanese

If you are active in social networks with another language not mentioned that you think will totally love Peerplays, then feel free to contact us so we can consider it.

We will look to provide additional perks and benefits to our ambassadors going forward, and are always seeking to develop long term relationships with good people.

Please let me know if you are interested and we can discuss the opportunity in more detail. Send me a PM.

Thanks!

The block time is not an issue, as mostly real-time game play can take place off-chain. The blockchain only needs to be used to permanently record the hand histories and cryptographic proofs that the game was fair.

However, there are other major complications with decentralized poker, such as the efficiency of mental poker algorithms, and how to deal with collusion, bots and multi-accounting. After much research, I came up with one of the few solutions (in my opinion the most ideal solution) to the latter, but no one was enthused as it is quite different to the current norms when it comes to poker and cryptocurrency. https://www.docdroid.net/dmo52Ag/bitshares-poker-brainstorm-v02.pdf.html

Poker on the blockchain won't work with Graphene's three second transaction times. Maybe for simple casino games it would be fine, but there are literally several dozen moments of decision making for every 10 person poker hand and if every decision has to be broadcast then it is going to take an excessive amount of time to play poker for players that are accustomed to fast play. I am going to guess that the developed poker game offered by Peerplays is also not going to compare in looks, feel and game play as say a well developed platform like Pokerstars - and this will be a big turn off similar to the many other online poker sites that have launched and failed over the years. Furthermore, poker sites spend considerable resources for customer service, Peerplays won't have this will it?

BitShares has 3 second block times, which means an average of 1 1/2 second transaction times. Graphene is scalable to 1 second block times (average 1/2 second transaction times) with a bit of tweaking to the current networking code and the money for witnesses to upgrade their equipment. In fact, the top speed is actually 1 second maximum block times. BitShares could do this right now, but it doesn't make sense to pay that much for speed at this stage.

As for your second point, I believe there are bigger challenges we face than simply developing a good looking GUI - but nevertheless the Peerplays UI will be useful and functional. It will also be released under a license that allows anyone further develop it in any way they wish, or they can develop their own. Overall, the standard Peerplays UI should help people see that they are playing on a blockchain - with a tab where they can watch the blockchain stats in real time, and vote for witnesses, etc. Once people find out they can maintain personal privacy while keeping all their winnings (minus rake) for themselves, the aesthetic appearance of the GUI will be almost trivial.

More over, as worlwide professional poker players would be highly interested in having a low rake and anonimity, I think that it would be easy to gather them and have help to spread the word.

I know, I wouldn't stop speaking about it on my poker social channels if it would be available.

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I imagine poker will be one of the hardest to do but yes I think the word will spread quickly.

PokerStars completely dominate market share but their high rake (up to 8% in some Spin & Go's I think ) + huge 2016 VIP cuts have made them super unpopular imo and regs would jump ship for 1% rake plus the fact that Peerplays would accept US players.

Those regs need players they have an edge on. The crypto world isn't that big. Bovada is doing a lot though to make people move towards it. (They had a 50% deposit bonus.. basically unlimited.  if you use BTC) Bovada sucks though. Man,  no fish and all super good players.yanno? ;)

There are many many problems with poker on the blockchain. You need transparency but only until after the hand has been settled. Maintaining transparency until then seems like a significant problem and at one point I gave it some thought. I could not reason a way to do it, but supposedly someone has figured it out but I've yet to find a paper that is legible without committing a day to it.  If I recall correctly, it  was a lot of.. Let A be C, let C be D and E.  Then F is G.  Layers and laayers of symbolism and "mental poker".I gave up and am still suspicious of that paper and what it actually solved. You'd think a guy who writes dozens of pages on a subject, would spend 1 page take-away/synopsis. Hmm. Perhaps I should glimpse over it again.  Frankly, I think it is impossible, because nodes will have to know game state.  So thus partial information games between multiple players will never work with 100% trust. It could solve rigged RNG perhaps, but not p vs p collusion or cheating by the house.
I speak for myself and only myself.

Speed would probably be the biggest issue of the ones you listed there but it may be acceptable for 2/3 player variants, which are some of the most popular these days anyway. Regulars may also just play more tables than usual so that they're making actions as frequently as they're used too/comfortable with.

A US player accepting site with 1% rake should find a market regardless of other issues imo.
