HITSHARES

 +5% +5% +5%

+5% Yeah, been trying to think of funky names, but HitShares is pretty simple and ties in nicely with Bitshares.

You can't beat shares as a word for what we do either, shares as in shares of something and as in sharing something.

Just remember that this will probably be a consumer facing site, where, like spotify, most users have no idea what's going on behind the scenes with artists and record companies.  As cob said this site will be geared towards music listeners not crypto nerds like us.  The fact that music shares will  exist in an open market will be a nice draw for music artists, but not user-listeners

Do not use this post as information for making any important decisions. The only agreements I ever make are informal and non-binding. Take the same precautions as when dealing with a compromised account, scammer, sockpuppet, etc.

So, not BeatShares then ;p

Here's the thing. We want a title that is broad enough to cover all types of music, all types of artists, including even jazz, classical, etc.

Also, ideally the name would have only two syllables.

My suggestions as of now, in no particular order (some of these were posted before by others):

SoundCloud
SoundShell
MuseCloud
CloudMuse
CloudVibe
BitSound
BitVox
BitMuse
ShareVox
ShareMuse
Cloudbass

I will vehemently argue against anything containing the word "beat." Anybody ever heard of "beats by Dre?" They're insanely expensive celebrity-branded headphones that "kids these days" just can't keep their hands off of. I have a hard time thinking of the word "beat" without thinking about beats headphones and peoples' headlong rush to throw money at marketing gimmicks.

That, and you'd probably run into trademark issues.

"Swing" - music term, price term, or play term.  "Set" - music term, or price term

and together it is a term greater than the sum of all its parts

+1 Swingset

^yuck.

The sound looks good but d-ecen"tra", just reminds me of lazy teenspeek.. innit?

Still not clear what Bitshare Music blockchain will suggest for the service provided. Perhaps that needs to be clear for us to offer names that communicate that difference. Is it a streaming service; a store of your music; or something else - what is currently the nearest traditional offering?

Edit: I see now it's to help "artists to let their fans copy and share music as much as possible".
So, perhaps "Base" would be appropriate.

Sorry, just felt I had to chime in here.
With all due respect to Toast or whomever, "upnote" is too staid and boring. Not edgy or catchy enough. It makes one think of office supplies, or greeting cards, or word processing software, something like that. C'mon, guys... we need to swing for the fences and get a name that is truly worthy of a huge market opportunity. Ideally, the name would be able to hold its own alongside the likes of "twitter", "myspace", "facebook"...
