Meta / Re: Making a Norwegian blog.

If there are no objections i will also use this thread to post things im uncertain about in the hope of someone giving me the answer/explaining it to me.

First up, working on the translation for what is protoshares this made me wonder:

• Confidence that the ProtoShares map to an equitable share in the implementation.

Could any of you help me make this sentence simpler?
I don't really understand what this means so it's hard to translate what i don't really understand if you catch my drift.

In context it's the last pillar regarding market's assessment.

This sentence was part of a list of several factors that contribute to the market value of ProtoShares .

"Confidence that owning 1 ProtoShare when each DAC launches will ensure that you also own 1 Share in each DAC."

This is really a measure of the market's trust that Invictus, and perhaps other developers, will honor this ProtoShares Social Contract.

Keyhotee / Re: hei,I have a question about keyhotee.
« on: December 03, 2013, 03:37:56 am »
Make sure you enter alt names in "Backup Keyhotee IDs if first choice is taken" box when you purchase through Invictus website.
I had made a mistake,I choice just one ackup Keyhotee ID . I had sent the PTS ,How can I add my backup IDs now?

Just use the form again, filling it in the same way you did last time and tell us what you'd like to do in the "message" box.

My apologies.  My intent was to highlight some of your best thoughts, not modify the original.
Stand by while I think of someone else to blame.  :-[

Keyhotee us the wallet for bitshares and also tests the broadcast infrastructure.
I hope Keyhotee will be "one wallet for bitshares", not "the". Only complete openness and diversity makes (should make) things successful!
You don't have to rely on Keyhotee to use bitshares, do you?

The name chain also tests parts of bitshares.
Ok for me.

We are working on as much in parallel as possible.
I believe you - though I'm not convinced it's the right way (to do it all at once).

Nothing we do remains closed, exclusive or centralized.

If everything Invictus does/creates is open and free for all - how is Invictus planning to earn money? Just by acquiring enough ProtoShares now - like everybody else does?
Or by creating DACs - like I think BitShares would be? (Would you earn more with BitShares than the "normal" user would in the future? (Why?))
It sounds a little unbelievable that there's a company who creates innovative tools for everybody to freely use and just expects to make profit by doing what everybody else is going to do with its inventions.
Maybe the whole thing still is not clear enough for me. Bitcoin is easier to understand! :)

We are investors in this new industry just like anyone else.  Our biggest advantage is that we trust ourselves and therefore have the confidence to act while others are trying to decide whether to trust us or not. We expect to earn capital appreciation and dividend income from the DAC shares we manage to own.

Ultimately we see ourselves as DAC venture capitalists on a mission.  Right now we are simply buying while others are waiting and watching to see what happens  ...and that should make all the difference.   :)

BitShares PTS / Re: DAC Angels - ProtoShares Stakeholders Group

With a hat-tip to the WeTube Alternative DAC threads...

Quote
It is also my opinion that the persons who do most of the efforts should be the initial shareholders of this company, just like it happens in the real world. Do you imagine Steve Jobs doing what he did knowing that he had only 0.0001% of the company he just created? No, he had a good share because he took the risks and has the ideas (it is irrelevant if after some years he sold them).
...
So I propose something that would not like very much to speculators, but certainly will motivate programmers and serius investors to do serius work here.
...
Because I know that there are people who want to invest but don't have any skills to contribute, we can also create a ProtoMediaShares, similar to what Protoshares is, that could be converted to WeTube DAC's shares at the launch, at some proportion. We are open to this proposition if we still give programmers something like 3/4 of the total initial shares. But some shares could be given to miners-only with a moral condition: please promote WeTube!
...
And what part of the stock do we reserve for programmers and miners? I propose 10% for programmers and 2.5% for miners. The 87.5% left is reserved for workers to be earn slowly once the system starts running. 10% is really a lot if we consider that this DAC could become the next Youtube.

Here is some innovative proto-DAC thinking that deserves to be highlighted outside its home thread.  I'd like to see more discussion about "acceptable" ways to motivate and enable more developers to develop more DACs.  After all, we as ProtoShareholders now have a vested interest in seeing lots of high-quality DACs fielded and backed by strong teams of developers willing and able to see them through to stand-alone autonomous operation.

Proto-DACs would seem to be a way to attract DAC-specific investors and developers the same way ProtoShares attracts global visionaries and industry leaders.

I'm calling it to the attention of the DAC Angel community and would like to hear thoughts about how ideas like this can increase the value of the PTS we currently hold.

I PM and emailed you, but why no response?

We greatly appreciate the surprisingly large number of interested stakeholders and plan to contact everyone as a group as soon as what we have to discuss with you is ready for prime time.

Keyhotee / Re: Screen Shot
« on: November 26, 2013, 01:31:23 pm »
Is Keyhotee forked from PTS? And if so, how can you use your PTS to credit your id if you have to mine them aka different private keys...

Keyhotee is an application for secure interaction with people and DACs.  It does not have a tradable currency itself, but it will have a wallet for managing other currencies.  Its underlying block chain is for storing free Keyhotee IDs where just a little proof-of-work mining in the  background secures your free ID for a year.  As a user, you don't even have to think about this.  As long as you run Keyhotee about a day per year, your free ID is renewed.  If you get hit by a bus, your free ID name (not your associated private information) becomes available for someone else to claim after one year of no use.  IDs are not transferrable so there is no motivation to reserve names you don't plan to use.  Keyhotee Founder IDs, however, never expire.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares Currency Exchange (BSCurEx)
« on: November 25, 2013, 09:51:02 pm »
Is BSCurEX (mentioned in the white paper) going to launch along with BTS? If not when is it planned, and what will we be able to invest BTS in in the meantime?

Also, once it does launch, wouldn't the best investment just be to rush bitBTC? That way you can ride it to its equilibrium, ride it as it follows BTC (which is appreciating in a fairly predictable manner) AND get BTS dividends?

BitShares has to rise in value to 2x the value of all BitBTC created.    So demand for BitBTC will cause demand for BitShares to rise faster.   If you want to 'play it safe', then BitBTC will give you the capital appreciation of Bitcoin + Dividends but personally, I would Short BitBTC relative to BTS.

But this does not constitute financial advice...   :)

BitShares PTS / Re: DAC Angels - ProtoShares Stakeholders Group
« on: November 25, 2013, 09:41:01 pm »
Now that ProtoShares have largely been distributed, we would like to announce the formation of the ProtoShares Stakeholders Group.  This group will be restricted to those who have over 1000 PTS and would like to work with Invictus Innovations to increase the value of your shares.  We have some major plans in the works and would like you all to be involved.

Please send me a PM or contact us via our website so we can add you to this mailing list.   We are all partners now in the success of ProtoShares and we can do more by working together.

Anyway to have DAC "little" Angels?  I'd love to get in on some action but I have only 280 as of now

Stay tuned...  :)

General Discussion / Re: DelieveryDAC?
« on: November 25, 2013, 03:16:02 pm »
With the advent of sophisticated autonomous navigation systems, could a DAC exchange invested bitshares for BTC which are then used to purchase autonomous cars, quadrocopter swarms, etc... and then use these devices to deliver physical objects and people from one location to another, returning the delivery fee as a profit to investors?

To the extent that DACs emerge as incorruptible trusted third-party escrow agents, they can theoretically serve as a catalyst in the exchange of any tangible service or commodity.

General Discussion / Re: Transition from PTS to Bitshares
« on: November 25, 2013, 03:09:18 pm »
Also, I'm not sure if you addressed my other question. Let's say Alice has 1PTS which she redeems for 1BTS. She then sells her 1PTS to Bob for 10BTC (It doesn't hurt to dream! ;)). Bob takes the 1PTS he just bought and attempts to use it to redeem 1BTS. What happens?

It is not a redemption process.  At one specific point in time, when PTS reaches a specific pre-announced block number in its block chain, the forked BTS DAC will initialize a "matching" genesis block.  Whatever PTS you hold as of that block get duplicated into the new DAC.  Then its over.  Alice will have 1 PTS and 1 BTS.

There is no way to recycle your new BTS shares back around for a second forking iteration.  That's what trading exchanges are for.   :)

兑换后交易所价格是会上升还是会下跌? 那些只专注于投机,甚至连背后原理也不搞懂的估计要有损失了,至少在兑换完BTC后短期内,会有波动吧。

Proshare is a altcoin, but not just a altcoin?!

DACs are a special class of cryto-currency.

Each DAC is an unmanned company with its own currency backed by the services it performs and a way to distribute profits from performing those services to owners of that currency.

For regulatory purposes, however, it's still just an altcoin.  A better altcoin with tangible value added to its speculative value.

Once you redeem your BTS from your PTS, is there any point in holding onto PTS? Also, once PTS are already used to redeem BTS, can they not be used again? So someone buying PTS won't know if they're getting PTS+BTS or just PTS?
You never lose your PTS, you'll just get additional shares in every DAC. So say if you're holding on to 100 PTS at the launch, after the launch of BitShares, you'll have 100 PTS + 100 BTS. The value of PTS might fall but it still has value because Invictus or other community members might come up with other DACs in the future and honor the same social contract of giving initial shares to PTS holders. Invictus has publicly announced their social contract - every DAC they create will be forked from ProtoShares which means by holding ProtoShares, you get a share of each of the Invictus DACs in the future. That's why they're valuable.

Ah, I see. Do I get Keyhotee rep/name for holding PTS?

Is there incentive for other groups to release their DACs forked from PTS? Or is the success of PTS post-BTS launch pretty much entirely dependent on the success of Invictus' other DACs?

Regular Keyhotee IDs are mined for you by Keyhotee at no cost other than a little of your computer's time for proof of work purposes.  They are first-come first-served by the Keyhotee network.

The incentive for other groups to honor the ProtoShares Social Contract is that they instantly get the attention and buy-in of everybody who already understands and believes in the potential of DACs.  All the early adopting True Believers by definition are ProtoShareholders.  We believe that the desire to inherit that community, (and the fear that if you don't honor them you leave the door open for a competitor to do so) will cause a lot of third party developers to honor the social contract.

The existence of a knowledgable and motivated DAC Angel community of potential investors interested in leveraging their PTS holdings might also influence whether they want to go it alone or not.   ;)

So What will the PTS price go just before and after release of bitshares? There may be lots of people want to get BTS so they buy PTS and few people want to sell. So the price maybe go very high. And PTS may become very cheap after people receive their BTS.
In the result, will the price fluctuate dramatically at that time?

Those who value PTS solely as a vehicle for owning one specific new DAC may lose interest in PTS and sell them after they have their new DAC shares.  Conversely, those interested more in PTS for future DACs on the horizon may quickly sell their new DAC shares to buy more PTS.  To the extent that there exist trading vehicles that span the genesis block singularity, the transients that occur there may be significantly damped.

Those who have ears, let them hear.
