General Discussion / Re: TOP 3 REASONS TO BUY BITSHARES NOW!
« on: September 07, 2015, 07:04:15 pm »
(In no particular order...)
1.  Perseverance & genius of core Dev team
2.  Referral program
3.  Bts undervaluation + unrealized monetary impact of partnerships = unprecedented growth

Great thread, thanks!

Hi Guys,

I was on the following Mumble "Hangouts".  I just got around to creating a "web wallet" and used my LinkedIn to verify my ID.  Can you please forward some Brownies to dmo09 ?  Thank you and let me know if you have any questions.  Many thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Please stop changing the rules of the game
« on: August 21, 2015, 09:32:08 pm »
I just noticed that Brownie points are now a sharedrop target and might be given other benefits. This is not really a big deal on its own, but it points to something which I think is very important. Every other week the rules of the game change around here, or perhaps to put it more accurately the nature of the value proposition changes. It has been happening constantly, and it is very annoying and off-putting.

You can't build a castle on shifting sands.

If Bitshares wants to draw people in and get people involved and encourage people to build on it, then the one single most important thing those people need is to have some confidence that they won't have the rug pulled out from under their feet by the powers that be.

Personally I would have no confidence in building anything to do with Bitshares, because by the time it was completed things would have changed so much it would probably be unprofitable or impossible.

Please try to make just one damn thing work (commercially speaking) before screwing it off to go and make something else.

Bts is an entrepreneurial venture of unprecedented kind.  I completely understand why there is evolving change as things unfold.  It's not like we're funding a lemonade stand.  We're writing history.

Yes, it has been frustrating in the short-term.  But this is a marathon through uncharted territory.  And I have only seen proof that the Bts team will work as long and hard as it takes to make this project a success.

Brownie Points:  I have zero, but understand that the people working proactively deserve a “token” of appreciation.  This token is now a share-drop target.  I am not surprised, nor am I complaining.

There is more than one reason to join Bts.  I joined is because this group is more technically and philosophically advanced than any other.

General Discussion / Re: Test GUI for Normal Users!
« on: August 21, 2015, 01:03:16 am »
Hi guys- I can't get past "Please create an account".  When I enter account name/password, I get a pop-up: "Failed to create wallet: TypeError: Invalid value undefined supplied to WalletTcomb/chain_id: String"

I have tried every combo of lower case, #'s, etc., in both my name and password, and get the same message every time.  I also get a pop-up after clicking "create account" that says "Unlock Wallet" "Password".

I was trying to create a dummy account just to play with the wallet.  Do I need to log in with my real account?

Same prob on galaxy tab II / chrome

Yes I was on Chrome and iPhone.  I'll try Explorer also in the future as a third try.

General Discussion / Re: 350M votes for marketing delegates WTF
« on: August 20, 2015, 01:43:15 am »
Only referring to the delegate voting system in general:

Have we ever considered the pros and cons of vote expiration dates, say 365 days or so? Or maybe losing a percentage of that person's vote over time unless continuously reaffirmed?

Like voting a delegate into a term in office?

That might keep people more active...

General Discussion / Re: What is the focus of BitShares now?

I have to tell the people that bytemaster and his philosophy is good, also the software, but that the community is mostly selfish, non-charity, pennyfaces who pretend to be anarchists but are only in for the money.

Be careful not to make assumptions about the many based on your experience with few.  It sounds like your expectations were let down somehow and now you are now projecting your frustrations.

I like "bitID", but it also sounds like "bitUSD"...

Will There end up being several "____abits" and if so, will the "abit" be a different color, or  "*" in between like "Wal*mart"?

Most importantly, I think this business model is genius.  Good luck getting accepted by banks and governments!  Godspeed!

What happens when the cost of energy goes to zero(or near zero).  As we begin using more and more renewable energy, the cost of energy becomes marginal.

The cost of energy will not reach even close to zero unles a "free energy devise" is invented, and then somehow slips by  "the powers that be", and then reaches global commercial manufacturing. In other words, extremely unlikely by today's standards. ...Unless things are radically changed.

Renewable energy is not free either, but it has reached "grid parity", which means it costs the same (over time) as other forms of energy (on a level playing field where all incentives are stripped away). So at best, RE is as expensive as, or a little cheaper, than "fossil fuel". Both require large up-front costs.
