Then you should start looking into Eris. I REALLY like what they are doing.
Eris? URL?

Sorry I sound so whiny, but as I am a newb, especially getting more and more vested here, I need to know it all before I dump any large sums into this.

I can't help unless I fully understand everything myself (use of the client, use of the online wallet, how to auto-reinvest yield and dividends, how to buy into DAC's that haven't launched yet, accessing the Whitepaper (assuming it's up to date), explaining why/what/how on every aspect of Bitshares)...

1) I'd like to see us offer up DNS service (put a browser in the bts client, offer a chrome plugin, etc).
2) I'd like to do margin trading.
3) I'd like to see Bitshares and Bitassets as an option in all the different arbitrage bots.
4) I'd like a CURRENT step by step "dummies" document that shows me how/why to setup a DAC, or convert my existing companies/employees.
5) I'd like to see the Wiki become a constantly-updated eBook (a Bitshares 101 second edition)
6) I'd like to never see the terms protoshares or btsx again if those are no longer even things that I need to learn about.
7) It's imperative to have up to date documentation, esp when this community is growing and changing so rapidly.
8. I'd like to see a DESIGNATED Delegate whos' sole job is to get DNS going (.p2p, .dac, whatever). The DNS issue should NOT be a side-job or something at the end of the Bitshares todo list.
9) I'd like to see a DESIGNATED Delegate whos' sole job is to keep the wiki up to date.

Confusing people will never foster mass-adoption.

What are the names of the Delegates that are supposed to be keeping the Wiki up to date?

Random Discussion / The DAC that hired and fired its own staff
« on: March 18, 2015, 03:24:27 pm »
Re: http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/DAC/Hiring_Employees,_Management_and_Development_Teams

Getting hired as a Delegate by a blockchain-driven DAC is WAY more secure than a traditional j.o.b. oh, and no more top heavy management either since they can simply be voted out and replaced with efficiencies never before seen in traditional companies. DPOS DAC's - simply awesome.

SAMIR
I have to leave now, ok? (gets up) I have to get my resume ready.
PETER
Get your resume ready for what? Another job where they can fire you for no reason?
SAMIR
That's right! If I'm lucky.
PETER
Look, I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of being pushed around. Aren't you?
SAMIR
Yes, Peter, but I'm not going to do something illegal.
PETER
Illegal? Samir, this is America! Come on, sit down! Come on! This isn't Riyadh! They're not gonna saw your hands off, all right?
.......
PETER
The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy. It's just that I just don't care.
BOB PORTER
Don't, don't care?
PETER
It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now, if I work my ass off and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime. So where's the motivation? And here's another thing, Bob. I have eight different bosses right now!
BOB SLYDELL
I beg your pardon?
PETER
Eight bosses.
BOB SLYDELL
Eight?
PETER
Eight, bob. So that means when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my real motivation - is not to be hassled. That and the fear of losing my job, but y'know, Bob, it will only make someone work hard enough not to get fired.

1) If you guys have an unlimited data plan on one of your smartphones, it would be awesome to do a Hangouts Live with people along the way. Maybe even while you're in the vehicle  driving down the road. Nothing beats live feeds with random discussion on road trips.

2) Show people how Bitshares pays better than banks. Banks pay around 0.3% interest right now, right? bitSilver pays over 2%.
The dollar is depreciating and Bitshares is appreciating.
Holding gold is great, but holding bitGold pays AND will follow the gold price too as price suppression lets up.

3) Take a laptop and demo the wallet.bitshares.org site over wifi.

4) Hand out Bitshares stickers or other goodies.

5) Put a giant "Powered by BitShares" sign in the back window.

Wish I could offer you guys a room too.
Say hello from Germany for me! :)
Prost!

Now that the cable companies (here in Germany too) and the FCC (and gov's around the world) are taking control of the internet, we have got to get a handle on DNS and routing RIGHT FRIGN NOW or else Bitshares and the entire ecosystem being built here will quickly become worthless.

Why can't the Bitshares client (or wallet?) also be a web-browser?
The bts: protocol if typed into the browser with a valid username like bts:kencode would bring up my webpage.
Or bts:child.kencode would bring up a different website that I own.
Or bts:kencode.ePlug would bring up my company page.

I hate to sound like a whiny little bitch but man seriously, all this news of the fcc, icann, iana and other restrictions being aggressively pushed thru the pipeline right now scares the shit out of me. They are the Borg, and they're winning on that front.
If we have hundreds of Delegates working on Bitshares, can't we have a few of them get an html5 browser built in to the client and implement bts: based websites ASAP? Think of how many people would flock to Bitshares if we started offering up the new decentralized internet, not only free of charge, but a decentralized internet that PAYS YOU for your participation in it?

Sorry if I sound paranoid guys, but as a meshnet junkie, the dns thing just worries me somethin fierce.

Right, like a "Reinvest income if received" checkbox or something.
If checked, it would enable a <select> menu of sorts that lets you choose what you want the income, or yield, automatically invested into. This keeps our money moving, gets the market cap up, further secures the network and so on.
So..?

Not sure, never heard of retroshare.
I've used Aether tho, still have it installed, but not too many people are using it so not many threads appear yet.
It looks like a good start tho, I'm a big fan of minimalism.
It does need color tho for some ui ease, I love Discourse, would love to see a decentralzed version of Discourse, in my ideal world of course ;)

IMO, right NOW is the time to be buying up BTS. At 0.00003btc, BTS is at its floor, especially with Moonstone coming out, an awesome nullstreet Newsletter goin out every month, Bitshares TV gettin the word out now, wallet.bitshares.org, name associations (bitpay/bitshares, overstock/bitshares, etc) bein thrown around... it's just a matter of time right now.

If I was you, I'd get over to metaexchange.info ASAP. Putting even 20 bux into BTS is a smart move. My BTC ain't doin squat.
I'd love to see tools like Quatloo Trader arbitraging BTS too. I'm comm with fyrstikken on that as we speak.

One small criticism, could you have all links in newsletter open in new tabs?

Agreed. Back button never takes you to the same page in the pdf. An href target="_blank" would be really nice.

Sign up here: https://bitshares.org/newsletter to receive future editions of the NullStreet journal via email.
Michael

On that Newsletter page, it says "Buy BTS via Shapeshift"... it should say "Buy BTS via MetaExchange".

Maybe if you just do a large scale (300x300px), then convert the logo to 4 colors (the 3 shades of green + the transparent bg).

I use my gravatar photo as a favicon:

I'd like to see MetaExchange get tons of brand recognition like shapeshift, especially since i am starting to use ME now more often than shapeshift :)
The Pixlr editor lets you design right down to a 16x16 icon scale too..
